  1. Careful, save some energy for the playoffs!
  2. Walk and an opposite field single for Sano. Not April Fool!
  3. Unfortunately, it's still March. April Fool!
  4. Not the result I expected from the Sano AB, but a welcome one nonetheless.
  5. I sense a theme with your posts thus far...
  6. They should DFA him now to save themselves the frustration of the rest of the game!
  7. My brother and I used to play the original RBI Baseball using the All-Star teams. We made a rule that every pitch had to be straight down the middle, effectively creating a home run derby in a game setting. We'd have some absurd scores. Perhaps the league should explore that option too! (Worth noting that I'd absolutely hate the game if they did implement that.)
  8. That, and there are only 3 night games league wide anyway. And they're all on the west coast. The Yankees have a 1:05 start time, and I'm guessing the league doesn't hate them so much.
  9. I'm trying to reconcile the fact that much of the depth is largely unproven. It's scary and exciting all at the same time. I suppose that's a sign that I'm ready to see the next group of prospects push through.
  10. I like the direction the squad is heading in this context, but they've still got work to do in this department. I do think it's coming though. This is where drafting athletes and finding a position for them later has it's advantages. The only thing I really worry about is that most of these positions have significant drop offs from the starter. Being capable and being adequate at a given position are two different things. But as I noted above, I do think some good options are waiting in St. Paul.
  11. I'm not an Austidillo guy, but I recognize that he had a pretty good spring. He's also basically the 26th man on the roster, which he is perfectly suited for. I don't want a Rooker or other prospect eating that bench time. This move is no surprise to me. Don't really understand the Garlick over Rooker, but he did finish stronger than Rooker. Rooker will still have his chance. Garlick is hardly an established player and an easy DFA candidate should he not continue his good spring.
  12. I tend to agree with this sentiment. I'm happy for the guy, and he's a great story. The deal is relatively low risk with plenty of potential upside, but if this is the "bedrock" of their future rotation, that doesn't instill much confidence.
  13. My condolences to his family and friends.
  14. Were you still able to get tickets after all of that? I'm curious to see what the turnout among the season ticket holders will be, especially early in the season. I didn't even try this time around, but might when they release the next batch. This will be the first time in 18 years that I won't make the home opener. I'm not even sure I'll be able to make the games that are in my package. I love weekday day games, but only when I'm able to partake in them! Also, how did you fare in the temporary seat location? I actually got the same seats, much to my surprise.
  15. Perhaps you inadvertently offended the baseball Gods and the losing streak is just their way of smiting you for the long haul? They are a fickle bunch, the Gods...
  16. Yeah, I've never understood the business premise of making your product harder to consume. That's especially true these days.
  17. If division titles were the ultimate goal, I'd be happier about that. But since they're not, I couldn't care less. That pace hasn't translated to even a single win in the postseason. That said, I'm not worried about the bats yet. Get back to me at the end of April.
  18. Not always. The most common occurrence where this doesn't happen is with a LH pitcher and a runner on first. The pitcher can keep their foot on the rubber, pick up their front leg as if in a pitching motion and still throw to 1B as long as they don't make a movement towards home (i.e. they step towards home instead of 1B). This also applies to a RH pitcher with a runner on 3B. Also, if the pitcher picks up his front leg as they would in a typical pitching motion, as long as the front foot doesn't cross the back leg, they can still throw to the base as well while their plant foot is still on the rubber. That's why you'll see pitchers pick their front leg straight up regardless of where they intend to go with the ball.
  19. There's certainly a lot to like about the rotation. And it is the best rotation that they've had in some time. However, that's a pretty low bar. It might even be good enough to win a playoff game, which shouldn't be the monumental achievement this team has made it into. But I still don't see it being good enough to win a playoff series. And frankly, playoff success is all that I really care about.
  20. Apparently unpopular opinion...I'm not really "anit-Root Beer", but I'm definitely not "for Root Beer". And Carrasco just can't catch a break. I feel bad for the guy.
  21. He may not be my first choice there on a daily basis, but it makes a lot more sense than hitting him first.
