  1. This is some really ugly baseball so far.
  2. Based on birdwatcher's comments, I guess we're doing it wrong. Try looking through the other end of the binoculars.
  3. Try zooming in on a bird book. Much more professional like.
  4. I would be in favor of bringing them up to get their feet wet. If they decide to move Santiago out of the rotation, whether it be back to the DL or something else, I'd like to see them bringing the kids up to fill that spot. It seems that Gibson is salvaging something, so I don't see them moving on from him yet. Any time a 5th starter is needed, I'd like that to go to one of the prospects too. Even if they're just getting spot starts at the big leagues, they're still being given a learning opportunity. There can't be anything wrong with that. They get a taste of what they're dream is and perhaps some pointers from the big league staff and/or veterans. In the meantime, if they're not on the major league roster I'd like to see them at AAA. I'm not sure they have much left to prove at AA. Get them some tougher competition to help reinforce the major league experience.
  5. Not only that, but deal a pitching prospect to get him? That makes even less sense to me.
  6. Nice ceremony for Rod Carew before the game.
  7. Dozier scratched tonight. Anyone have the scoop on that? He was originally in the lineup I believe. Edit: sore back apparently.
  8. Since I won't have a chance later, I just want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July! I expect everyone to be typing with the same number of digits come Wednesday as they are today! Have a sober ride home too! Anyone have any cool and/or unusual 4th of July celebration traditions?
  9. Strikeouts will always annoy the heck out of me. No good ever comes from a strikeout. At least put the ball in play.
  10. Yes, this sounds very familiar indeed. Luckily, as the older sibling, what I lacked in size I made up for in speed and cunning. What that really means is that I made him take the dog out when we got off of the bus, so I got first dibs on whatever was left in the fridge.
  11. Ah, that's right. I forgot about Burdi and his TJ. Thanks for the correction.
  12. Burdi, Bard, and probably Reed should be on the horizon. Probably a bit too early to bring them up yet. That would be especially true of Burdi and Bard. I'd prefer them to get some AAA innings first. Even that is assuming they can stay healthy.
  13. You know, I've discovered that if you keep checking the contents of the fridge for a long enough period of time things will disappear, things will suddenly appear or things don't change at all. I think you need to study further Riverbrian.
  14. That's not true at all. Busenitz was just sent back down to make room for Pressly. Curtiss has also earned a call up as well, just to name a couple. There are options.
  15. If they're not performing and clearly not in the long term plans and ineffective in the short term, why keep an older player that has no value to this team or another? There is no reason to carry old, ineffective relievers like Belisle and Breslow on this roster when they have young options in the minors that can do no worse. While I get the idea of the roster flexibility involved with sending a Busenitz down to bring up a Pressly, simply letting go of a Belisle is addition by subtraction and it gives the younger guys opportunity to get their feet wet. The Haleys, Tonkins, and Tepeschs of this system have already sunk. They don't belong in this conversation and you know that - that's why you picked them as examples. If you're going to twist my words to the extreme to fit your holier than thou opinion, then I have no further interest in carrying on this discussion with you.
  16. But I'd argue that anyway if they're over 28 and I'd add Belisle's name to that list. It's time to bring the kids up and let them sink or swim. Get them innings this year so that they can be more trustworthy next season.
  17. Don't worry, I realize that if the pen comes in ugliness will be a compliment.
  18. I was referring to that particular inning.
  19. Yup. He's the ace. He's got to eat some innings here.
  20. Like I've said in several posts now, that can't be their only deal. They've got to supplement that move with more. If that is their only move, it makes no sense at all. I've never advocated to dealing only Erv, that's just one move of several.
  21. I'm tired of it too, but I don't see them as real this year so I don't really consider it moving the goalposts when next year was what I was looking at anyway.
