  1. Happy Unbirthday, RB! I hope that you got an extra cheddar bay biscuit yesterday.
  2. I think it is still fair to criticize Molitor on some of the usage of the bullpen and timing and perhaps the number of pitching changes, but the bulk of the blame does go to the FO for not doing more to improve the pen to start with. Molitor has certainly been handcuffed by the lack of quality arms and I think he's done a better job of managing it in the second half, but he's not without blame either.
  3. You might be right that he'd be one of those guys that have the approval of the manager to bunt, but then it's on the manager there to tell him to swing away.
  4. Rosario still drives me nuts with some bonehead base running and defensive decisions, but I've got to hand it to him when it comes to his at bats. He's impressed me in that area this season. Hopefully he keeps that up and he'll have a very nice career.
  5. I want to echo this. I simply don't have the time that I used to to spend reading up on the Twins and this is the best place that I've found that I can get a plethora of content on a wide variety of topics. I don't even have the time I used to for this site unfortunately, but it's definitely not because I don't want to be here more. Between the writers & contributors here, the linked articles/blogs and the knowledgeable commenters (those I agree AND disagree with) this is a great place to get caught up and/or stay caught up on what's going on with the Twins and even the league. I just wish that I had more time to keep digging through what I haven't already discovered. Keep up the good work everyone!
  6. As has been said many places in this thread, including the one you quoted, how do you know that Mauer didn't ask to be put in the lineup and Molitor simply didn't do it? It's not about not being able to criticize a player, it's about being reasonable about it. You, nor I, have any idea what transpired before the game yesterday. In the end, Molitor is the guy filling out the lineup card. I'm disappointed that Mauer wasn't in the lineup last night too, but it's unreasonable to me to rip Mauer alone. Molitor could simply have gone to Mauer and said, "hey, we need you today." He may have, but we don't know. In the end, Molitor is the one that filled out the lineup card.
  7. I always thought that it would be interesting to get a Mrs Riverbrian section in his game thread intros. I'm sure that no good would come of it for RB, but the rest of us would probably enjoy it.
  8. There are some that would argue that they already have been spayed or neutered with their inability to score runs.
  9. Correct. A domesticated card would be much safer. It may even make for a nice pet, given certain circumstances.
  10. Anybody know what the Canadian exchange rate for games in the standings is? I imagine that makes the Twins task that much more difficult. Maybe North knows?
  11. A distinction without a difference. Pressly made it into the game later, so the options were available.
  12. So, if you combined a hoe and an ax, why would it not then be called a hoax?
  13. Correct. Molitor is carrying a three man bench so that he can employ more pitchers. If he's not going to use those extra pitchers, he should at least have a longer bench should he not? Since Pressly came in later in the game, lack of options doesn't seem to be the issue.
  14. I'd be finding a new manager if my manager considered a two run deficit in the home half of the 7th low leverage.
  15. "Now he’s saying that 3 out of 2 people don’t understand logic." I had a college professor that stated on a couple of occasions that 2 does not equal 3 even for large values of 2. So by those standards, this may be more logical than we give RB cred it for.
  16. Throw some good BBQ sauce on it and it'll taste just like one of my father-in-laws grilled meats!
  17. With how he started, I know that I'm disappointed about how it's turned out.
  18. Except I'm complaining about the pitching usage as they were happening and before they blew up. Mine are not complaints about the results, they're about the usage. If the splits are going to be ignored, what was the point of bringing in more analytical people to the organization? If you play the numbers and still don't succeed, at least you maximized your potential. Sometimes things aren't going to work out despite best practices, such as a similar scenario last night. That's baseball and life. But ignoring the splits in the first place is just poor practice and not maximizing the potential for success.
  19. But you don't know that the bats are going to continue to be feeble in their last three at bats. Yeah, you know that now but Molitor has to manage in the now and without the benefit of hindsight or a crystal ball. He's got to do what he needs to in order to keep his team in the game. So no, none of this is a moot point.
  20. Molitor's job is to put his players in a position to succeed. Boshers facing a RH batter was not putting his player in a position to succeed and not in the best interest of trying to win a game. What was a manageable two run deficit became a five run deficit because of that. That's poor managing.
  21. A relievers job is also to keep the team in the game and/or minimize damage. He certainly didn't accomplish either of those things.
  22. I get what you're saying, but I don't agree that it doesn't change anything. There are other ways to make it harder for a WC team to succeed without adding another team to the mix with silly elimination games. I don't mean to hijack this thread, so I'm going to leave it at that.
