  1. Interesting. Interesting to see the variance in the splits too. Thanks for the info!
  2. Out of curiosity, do you know what the figures are for the last 4 innings? I know that it's typically tougher to score on a bullpen (unless you're playing the Twins), but this team doesn't seem to do a thing against opposing bullpens. Curious if that notion is based in fact or just an ill conceived notion.
  3. I've said this before in previous seasons. It's not the losing that bothers me so much. I don't like it, but sometimes your team just isn't as good as the opponent. I can deal with that aspect. It's how they lose that bothers me. They shoot themselves in the foot consistently. They leave scoring opportunities go wasted with regularity because they run themselves out of it or they string together poor ABs. They play atrocious defense which only compounds the poor pitching problem. It's one thing to simply not make enough plays to win. It's quite another to squander the few plays you do make and then top it off with mistake-laden play that even poor teams find a way to capitalize on. Sloppy baseball is unacceptable because it requires little talent. It only requires focus and attention to detail. The Blue Jays have exposed the Twins defense. They are forcing them to make decisions on the fly because they don't believe that they'll make the right play. The Morales steal last night was a perfect example of that.
  4. Swinging bunt, rbi single that doesn't go 15'. Can't make it up.
  5. Yup. I'd like to see Kepler and Rosario swapped.
  6. If your pudding dispenser ever becomes reality, I'll take a dozen!
  7. I don't remember Sid Bream being a Twin.
  8. Wind blowing hard out to left tonight. Many a lazy fly balls could go out. They're going to have to obliterate a ball hit to right however.
  9. You hand a lead to the Twins bullpen and it's probably over too. Just in a much different sense.
  10. Thank you for articulating my point better than I did...and with accurate information!
  11. I think most people expected this, but Curtiss was called up for today's game.
  12. This is what I get from going from memory after looking at 2016 and 2017 results...you are correct. I'm the idiot! I also agree with you about August. They were playing some really good baseball and that spilled into September.
  13. If I'm a player on this team and I'm told that I have to endure another Hughes start, I'd feel like the FO is slapping me in the face. There are a lot of things wrong with this team, but this is one of those things where they actually have a few options.
  14. The other problem that makes thinking 2017 repeatable was the fact that they were essentially a mid 70s win team for 5 months of last season. They had a great August, which put them into contention. However for most of the season, the fact remained that they were very streaky and lost more than they won. You'd hope that they could spread those extra 10 wins from August out over the course of the season. That would be a sign of a team that improved because it would signify more consistency. The only consistency that we've seen from this club so far has been that they've been consistently poor in pretty much every facet of the game. *Edit: As Chief points out below, I'm pretty much completely wrong on this.
  15. Could be worse. You could have tickets for tonight. At least it's supposed to be a nice night for baseball. Hopefully a legit baseball game breaks out.
  16. It's amazing how a team that was talking contention going into and coming out of Spring Training handcuffed the roster like they did. I'm no fan of Molitor, but some of the roster composition choices did nothing but handcuff him. Why would a contending team carry two, arguably three, dead roster spots? The lack of legit 4th outfielder is mind boggling. I could handle Grossman or LaMarre, but not both. It's true, the injuries to Buxton and Santana have left a void. The suspension of Polanco hurts the team more than many realize in my view. I thought that the 2016 squad was one of the lowest baseball IQ teams of recent memory. I don't think this years squad is quite that bad, but I leave myself scratching my head about bonehead plays and brow raising managerial decisions far more frequently than I should from a team that has it's sights set on contending. What has me more concerned at the moment is how the team seemed to lay down after getting down both Friday and Sunday. One of the things I have enjoyed about Molitor teams is their lack of quit. That has not been present in the last week or so. Friday night after they fell behind, they looked like they were going through the motions.
  17. I'd rather they move him to the MLB rotation and Hughes go to the pen or out the door.
  18. What a disheartening series after a disheartening series, which was following a disheartening series. I know that it's still April, but its got to be time to start finding guys that want to play. This team felt disinterested all weekend to me. They got down early and then just checked out. That's what is the most alarming development for me.
  19. I'm still puzzled at Molitor bringing Pressly in to face three straight lefties when he also had Rogers ready at the same time. I trust Pressly more than most in the pen, but the lefty/left matchup at that juncture in the game seemed to me to be the wiser course. He ended up coming into the inning anyway to face Votto. It was a good thing that the wind was blowing in from left though. The score could have been even worse with all of the hard hit balls hit that way.
  20. Good thing the wind is blowing in from left...
  21. An AL Central in which they currently sit in third place in... If we're talking about margin for error to take the division, sure. If we're talking about being a legitimate threat in the playoffs, not so much. It's still April though. This team hasn't shown an identity yet. That's why they play the game.
  22. With Slegers coming up, I'm hoping that he starts tomorrow and Hughes goes to the pen. I'm doubly hopeful since I'll be at tomorrows game. I'd much rather watch Slegers than Hughes.
