  1. Good article. I wish we knew about the current velocity of his fastball, but I suppose that will be evident once he is throwing in the AFL.
  2. Ninety minutes does not seem like enough time to cover what needs to be covered. I would like to see the debates be at least three hours, with strict cutoffs when the candidates go ever the allotted time for each answer.
  3. This is some creative thinking. Please keep us posted as to who we should root for going forward and why.
  4. I agree with your idea for changing the rule.
  5. I wonder how this will affect team morale next year.
  6. I like your analysis, but wonder how difficult it might be to entice a quality free agent to come to a team that will have had the worst record in the AL for two straight years. Marcum and Jackson might put some weight on the value of going to a team that appears to have a better chance of being competitive. Also, if some other team wants them, the Twins seem unlikely to get into a bidding war. I fear that the Twins will bottom fish for someone who has some potential, but is less in demand, such as Ervin Santana.
  7. You gentlemen have obviously given this a lot of thought and I am enjoying your analysis of what might have happened.
  8. You have done an excellent job bringing perspective to a disappointing season, along with some plausible hope for the future.
  9. No thread for today's (Tuesday's) game?
  10. I also think that the answer lies somewhere in the middle. It seems to me that the best path would be to target 2015 or 2016 as the year to build for, and be willing to trade players who don't fit into that time frame. This would mean another dismal two or three years in terms of not contending, but the top prospects (Sano and Buxton) need time to ripen, and the Twins need some good young starters who they develop in house, because they will never pay for really good free agents.
  11. This makes a lot of sense to me. He will be very valuable if he can get the power under control and be more consistent.
  12. Interesting article. I would rather see the Twins target a World Series in three or four years than try to win the division next year.
  13. I just hope that the Twins play well and don't make it easy for the Tigers.
  14. Wishful thinking and creative. That is a team that would be hard to beat.
  15. I suspect that Sabathia and Pettitte will still be able to beat the Twins when they are each 50 years old.
  16. And now the beard comes off the hot dog.
  17. I don't even care if he turns out to be terrible, I just want the chance to see it. Hell, we've had three years of confirmation now that Drew Butera is an epically putrid hitter, why can't we get one month of Slamatime? Again, I agree 110%. Not bringing him up seems like a travesty from every possible angle.
  18. I feel the same as you do on this.
  19. Cute poll, but we are still in the game after two innings!
  20. Agree, other than Hawk Harrelson who is every bit as much of a mindless homer. I do everything possible to avoid hearing either of them. Ever. The only tiebreaker may be that Allen thinks he's smart, funny, and relevant. I really can't decide who is a more annoying waste of airtime. On the other hand, Hawk is fun to listen to when the White Sox are losing.
  21. Done. Hope this helps.
  22. That part was OK. The rest, not so much.
  23. No one is celebrating two wins on one day? The Twins looked decent today, and Walters gave up only one run in six innings.
  24. Since he is already paid for, it seems to me that at the very least he might win a lot of games for the Red Wings.
  25. ...and this is where I laugh at the accusations of Obama having any control over the Medicaid/Medicare moneys skewing. States decide how Medicaid is distributed and have a large say in how Medicare money is distributed within the state. States that have poor oversight are the states that see a high amount of fraud. I can tell you that South Dakota recently moved all Medicaid/Medicare receiving departments under one department head, and it has allowed for better budgeting of all funds needed by each area. It has also allowed South Dakota to claim more funds by having a better totality indicator of need than each individual department reporting. I would like to empty our prisons of drug offenders and try to fill them with people who have scammed the government and internet scammers.
