  1. I'm not sure which version is the real Twins and which is the aliens, but if the current group is the aliens, they can stay.

    Kerrigan?

I thought it was about Joe. I have no idea how I remember the guy - maybe just because he overlapped a few of my peak baseball card collecting years.. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kerrijo01.shtml
  3. If by "hitting his innings limit" you mean 240, then I agree.
  4. Is it a single blade razor, tell her she missed her chance to get rid of you. It might have worked during the series with the Yanks or Rays...
  5. Do we know the loss of velocity is due to aging, not wear and tear?
  6. There will be no additional cost to taxpayers. There will just be 30 marginal candidates who will have to attend college elsewhere. (OK, I guess there will be $15 postage plus the cost of printing 30 more rejection letters.)
  7. Just dig a hole and let it pass through. I think they are done with that shovel in St Louis.
  8. The military changes rules all the time. I know on enlistment contracts there is some clause that you agree that if any promises have been made other than what is stipulated in the contract, they aren't binding. I don't remember the exact wording, but I'm sure the officers have a similar clause for commissioning.
  9. With Santana they didn't acquire and ace, they got a lottery ticket that turned into an ace. You make a fair point about Morris, but he had been an ace before and the Twins were able to buy low. Smiley was a legit top of the rotation guy for a couple of years, including 1992 with the Twins. When we had Santana, nobody was saying we need to go out and get an ace. The Twins were just not very good at evaluating their weaknesses and aggressively fixing them. There has been some bad luck along the way - especially concussions (Koskie, Morneau, and Mauer) and it still pains me to think what could have been if Liriano hadn't hurt his elbow. That was such a great team to watch before he got hurt.
  10. The military has a demand for fit, athletic people to join the ranks, and currently about 75% of the graduating HS seniors are disqualified for fitness, drug, or legal issues. The World Class Athlete program is good advertising, and for every one that is in the program there are probably 30 more who will join because they know that signing on the dotted line isn't signing away the pro dream.
  11. I've heard Hell is in ND (at Minot AFB, to be exact), but I guess SD is close enough to be affected by extreme weather events there.
  12. When I checked, I think he was a 1st Lieutenant (O-2). $3850 + $250 + housing (1400 - 2200, depending on which base in FL he is stationed at - I think it was Patrick AFB.)
  13. Pressly's fault, again. (Yeah, I know he was no longer pitching.)
  14. The pundits here certainly haven't been silent about Buxton's injuries. Migraines are frustrating, but most of us know someone who gets them and we know that treatment options are very hit and miss (although I've never seen someone have to miss 10 days because of them.) I don't know what to tell Buxton to do about migraines. I also don't know what to tell him to do about fouling a ball off his foot (except maybe hit line drives.) I would like to see him display a bit more discretion and less valor near the fences in the outfield, and I'm not the only one who has mentioned that. For Sano, eat less and exercise more is the short version of something that might help.
  15. This was used as a review in one of the umpiring forums I'm in. In NFHS rules, using detached equipment is two bases on a pitch or thrown ball, three bases on a batted ball. MLB rules are different - the 1-base award in the video was correct. I think on a batted batted ball it's two bases, but I'm not sure.
  16. At the very least, he feels some allegiance to the money he would have to spend to fill his roster spot.
  17. I think we may be closer to the end of the end.
  18. Those who read the Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny know it means F'd-up, Insecure, Neurotic, and Egotistical. I admit I cheated and listened to the audio books. Those who share the road with me are thankful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/bookseries/B00CJ18JFG/ref=sr_es_r?keywords=inspector%20gamache%20series%20in%20order
  19. I'm sure we could come up with a pretty good list. My wife would make sure spending too much time posting on game threads was on there.
  20. Doesn't sound like an unreasonable reaction to the game. Are you looking for less yukking and more drinking?
  21. I hope you're not offended that so many are willing to let you try I'm only peeing close to shore. You'll have to get someone else to warm up the rest of the route.
  22. I'm more optimistic about Lynn turning it around than I ever was for Marquis,so I would definitely plan on more than 7 games. The Phil Hughes leash was longer than I would have liked (I would have reigned in by the end of March), but I'm OK with the word today that he has been relegated to the pen and Romero is on the way.
  23. I doubt it, but he might be that right-handed bat we need

  25. There are plenty of times my kids speak in code and I have no idea what they're talking about. Anytime we can get some revenge...
