  1. Trading for Lynn was mentioned on another thread and was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response, but I like the idea.
  2. Same thing as every mom - "you aren't going out to play ball until you clean your room"
  3. I agree 100%. At work today I saw the score go across the bottom of the screen. I also saw "Rosario 4-4, 3B, HR" and thought at least Eddie is recovered. Then I come here and see 0-4 plus a key error and got confused. I finally checked the box score and saw that Amed Rosario had himself a pretty nice game.
  4. I hope that is right. Depending on the type, the road with leukemia can have many bumps and twists and turns. Praying for a full recovery. Baseball has had its share of tragedies and inspirational stories. I hope this becomes the latter, not the former.
  5. He's a lefty and still breathing, plus I still have my Liriano Twins jersey. I think that's a fairly complete list of positives.
  6. If he's wearing that robe, I don't know him (even if he's my brother.) Tell him (since I'm not speaking to him) that Hal McRae is the dirtiest player in history and MLB should have denied the protest in the pine tar game. Oh, and George Brett was overrated. (That last one isn't true, but that doesn't matter when talking trash.)
  7. I haven't seen that at schools I have been to, but that would make sense. I still had fun speculating about the other possibility.
  8. That 3.99 GPA is impressive, but I'm trying to figure out how one gets that. Your standard degree is 120 credits. If you get all A's except a B in a 3-credit class, it's a 3.975 (round to 3.98). If that 1-credit Library Skills class messed up a 4.0 for a Mechanical Engineering student, that would be sad (and pretty funny.)
  9. That catch has been on TV a lot - it was pretty impressive.
  10. Come on guys. Don't bust the time like the Vikings did back in the day. (Twins fans worry better than anyone.)
  11. I'm still feeling some of the pain from last year, and it felt worse than the #13 pick. (It also felt worse than the final record - 78-84?)
  12. I know it has been a couple of years, but when I see a Beloit - Cedar Rapids score, it still takes me a few second to remember which team our guys are on.
  13. We had channels 3, 6, and 8. CBS, ABC, ABC. At some point channel 6 switched to CBS (big help). Occasionally, if the weather was right and the antenna was facing the right way, we could get channel 10 (NBC), but it was very rare and pretty snowy when we got it. I think I was a freshman in HS before we got cable (and upgraded to a 19" color tv.) I have fond memories of visiting family in St Paul because we always got to see a Twins game (at the Met, except for 1981), the games we didn't go to were frequently on TV (and my uncle had color), and there was more in the paper about the Twins than the usual two sentence summary we got at home.
  14. We had Freddie Mercury on the team and marketing couldn't do something with that?
  15. It sounds like this was the jingle we needed tonight. (I was umpiring tonight, and two of the three games were worse than the Twins game.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97ECZMvbLxg
  16. I don't believe it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSUIQgEVDM4
  17. Ugh. I can't find the Dislike button, and I really need it. (I guess you need it more, since it was your shoulder.)
  18. I read the headline and tried to remember when we had a 3-game losing streak and I forgot to panic. Apparently this was just a drill. Don't worry - my panic-button finger will be alert until we clinch the division (late August?)
  19. Perez seems to have made changes that look like actual improvement, not smoke and mirrors. A sub-3.50 ERA is not an unreasonable forecast. I'm not sure what Odorizzi changed, but he seems like a better regression candidate. Polanco is likely to regress some, just because he's playing at an MVP level right now and I don't think he's quite that good. (He's young enough and has had flashes in that past that indicate there is at least a possibility he is actually that good.) Buxton is about halfway between what he has been and what I hoped he would be eventually. I'll call it a good compromise and hope he stays healthy. Kepler is marginally better at an age where marginal improvements are the norm. I never trusted Hidenberger's stuff. The bullpen and pitching health are my two biggest concerns.
  20. If they keep playing like they have been, that should fix itself by mid-September at the latest.
  21. If he reminded me of my kids reading Amelia Bedelia, he would be my favorite announcer. Whatever he was saying about Rogers as he threw the pitch that became the tying base hit was accidentally hilarious - something about how he always rises to the occasion (or similar.) Now that Hawk Harrelson is retired, the worst announcer in baseball crown is up for grabs. Latroy is in the mix.
  22. I thought the laying off pitches down and away was the biggest and most encouraging change. (Cue the tastes great/less filling argument.)
