  1. In the photo, it looks he got into position and then timed his jump well. That's very unlike his usual technique, which is to run back at full speed, leap with total disregard to the location of the wall, and then crash awkwardly with bone-jarring force. Maybe DHS has better coaching (except for that wall direction thing).
  2. For his long-term health, he needs to stay away from walls.
  3. The last 2B from A&M I remember the Twins drafting worked out pretty well (for a while.)
  4. It was spent, then in-spent. Now it only helps if it's (wisely) re-spent.
  5. Maybe they think "I better hit the target, because if I make him move his glove a foot it's going to the backstop." I've seen catchers like that while umpiring. It's always a painful day.
  6. I agree - I read "non-zero chance to stay at catcher" as "it's not zero, but it's close to it."
  7. My guess is he would hit around .202, with an OBP around .289, slugging .266, OPS .556. Maybe slightly lower OBP (big strike zone), slightly higher slugging. He would probably put more fans in the seats than Tebow, and that's saying something, but if you're trying to win and you're determined to sign a basketball player, Tracy McGrady might be the way to go. (If an NFL player is close enough, apparently Colin Kapernick can bring some heat.)
  8. Since "all the other crap" is most of what we discuss here, I'd say there's at least a few crazies who care about it. I'm sure we all agree the we hope he blows them away (and uses the experience as a springboard to dominate AAA, then gets called back up and had a long and productive MLB career. And always beats the team we acquired him from.)
  9. I hope we had him change his name to throw off the teams drafting ahead of us.
  10. Maybe the Twins can really practice a lot so when time resumes its normal progress they will be awesome. Or maybe they will just spend their time partying and killing people without consequences (since it's all wiped out in the morning).. As long as they get Hawk Harrelson a few times, that would be OK.
  11. Great write-up as usual. (I don't say it enough.) I vote yes on the new prospect summary. What is the "temporary inactive" list? (What are the criteria for using it.) I never thought I'd be envious of someone getting to go to Cedar Rapids for a few days, but... Have a great time.
  12. He was exactly number 5 for me, if you mean of those who had a realistic chance to catch it. (Garver was #6)
  13. I agree, although I have seen some un-framing that has worked the opposite way, especially with catchers sitting too far back losing strikes on low pitches. That (hypothetical) curveball might have been a strike, but it sure doesn't look like one when you short-hop it.
  14. She's thinking "I know he's not the greatest player in the world, but that $12M can pay a lot of child support." (I'm guessing you make slightly less than that.) Picturing Eddie Murphy way back in the day: (singing) "There's nothing going on but the rent. You've got to have a J-O-B if you want to be with me." (Paraphrasing now) Women love that song, but it's so cold-blooded. "Hey baby, what's going on?" "THE RENT. That's what's going on. You got a job yet? ..."
  15. Sounds like bilateral neck soreness to me. (Someone had to say it.) I love Mauer, but he gets the weirdest injuries.
  16. Maybe they had our pregame comments posted in the dugout before the game.
  17. Saves them from having to find that replacement guy who is exactly replacement level, I guess.
  18. He has had a pretty amazing career for a high-school dropout who got his start in the media delivering papers.

    Kerrigan?

I thought it was about Joe. I have no idea how I remember the guy - maybe just because he overlapped a few of my peak baseball card collecting years.. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kerrijo01.shtml
  20. If by "hitting his innings limit" you mean 240, then I agree.
  21. Is it a single blade razor, tell her she missed her chance to get rid of you. It might have worked during the series with the Yanks or Rays...
  22. Do we know the loss of velocity is due to aging, not wear and tear?
  23. There will be no additional cost to taxpayers. There will just be 30 marginal candidates who will have to attend college elsewhere. (OK, I guess there will be $15 postage plus the cost of printing 30 more rejection letters.)
