  1. Dear __________________, We thought you would like to know that your Lulu order has shipped on 1/16/20 6:46 PM via FedEx. It's getting close... Edit - Estimated delivery date: Jan 24th. Patience is allegedly a virtue.
  2. If the Twins sign him now, they assume all the risk of injury. If that doesn't buy them a substantial discount, there is no point. This is year 1 of arbitration for him - if he wants to wait, we can wait.
  3. Gotta keep the collection up to date. It gets better every year (and year one was pretty darned good.)
  4. Except pitchers injure their arms all the time. I have yet to see the "hit by a bus," and the closest I have seen to West Nile Virus is Kyle Gibson last year (and his e coli and ulcerative colitis, or whatever he had, didn't affect his contract as much a poorly timed shoulder impingement would have.) Berrios might be looking at Wheeler money in - what is it, 3 years? - if he stays healthy. That's a long time in a pitcher's life - if he can get some guaranteed money now in exchange for a discount off current value later, he might want to consider it.
  5. Bummer. I missed that, but I had a knee replaced two weeks ago, and opening the laptop required more effort than operating the TV remote.
  6. 33-yr-olds who "hit .208/.342/.406 and a meager 22 home runs, in the year of the (allegedly) juiced ball" are normally washed up. I wouldn't mind bringing Cron back, if his wrist is OK (or hand, or whatever was bothering him.) When he was healthy, he was good.
  7. Some folks around here mentioned 3 years / $75M as an expected contract for him, so the extra year and extra $5M aren't issues. The issue is do you want him at the top of your rotation?
  8. If Taft can make it to the 7th inning, you can too. (Chief will let you go buy him a beer during the 3rd inning if you really need to stretch.)
  9. Unfortuantely, Falvey/Levine aren't posting here (unless they are using pseudonyms), so the site would be lacking in content or purpose without us GM-wannabe's
  10. My guess is he will get more than that. He got $10m over two years knowing he would only be pitching one of those years. I bet he could get at least 2/$15M coming off a healthy year.
  11. Anyone know how much longer Pineda's suspension has on it? I'd like to have him back, but there are negatives/unknowns: 1. We don't know if he wants to come back. 2. His injury history isn't great. 3. His suspension was for a diuretic/masking agent. What (if anything) was it masking and how much of his recovery was from this. 4. How expensive will he be?
  12. This past year, 8 of the top 10 pitchers ranked by bWAR were drafted in the 1st round. deGrom was drafted in the 9th round and Rodriguez is from Venezuela and was not subject to the draft.
  13. The good news is the Twin Cities aren't Buffalo. It might be a deal-breaker for some, but not nearly as many as Buffalo would be.
  14. I've flown on worse - take-off only. (My one and only skydiving trip. The plane was painted silver - it looked like primer. The instrument panel looked like an old VW dash with the radio and a couple of gauges missing. I think it was motivational - to make sure we felt safer jumping than staying.)
  15. It appears the White Sox did. Hanging curveballs to Schoop aren't any better.
  16. Some deal with things like that better than others. My son's college roommate managed to make ESPN's Not Top 10 - he was a soccer goalie who managed to drop-kick the ball off a teammate's head and back into the goal. He had fun with it and seemed to enjoy the attention.
  17. I think we can squeeze that one in during the middle of the 4th inning. Maybe add America the Beautiful for extra innings. (As a compromise, we don't have to do all four verses.)
  18. At least she had the good sense to chicken out and go low on that last note. She really needed to have her hair put up, but I thought she fought through the distraction of having it blowing in her face reasonably well.
  19. Was anyone else concerned that Berrios' fastball was sitting at 90-91? Maybe it's nothing - Rocco and Wes didn't seem to worry about it. Was it normal fluctuation? A faulty radar gun? We're Twins fans and worrying is what we do best. I can't be the only one concerned about this, can I?
  20. 39th round pick this year out of UCLA. The only times he has ever hit are in the Northwoods summer league after his sophomore year (.775 OPS) and then in his junior year at UCLA (.840 OPS). He didn't get drafted after his junior year and then posted a .606 OPS his senior year. He hasn't hit much in the GCL either. My guess is his main qualifications for AAA are having a pulse and owning an infielder's glove.

    Hate losing Davis....

If he continues on the path he was on, he will be on OK player for someone. I'm not sure what I believe, his .950 OPS this year or his .740 OPS the previous two years. Granted, almost half his PA the two previous years were in the FSL, but he's 25 and just got to AAA. He's almost as old as Buxton. His stats and career path remind me of Marty Cordova, including a MiLB breakout year at age 24. If he continues on that path, I'd say that's a success. Cordova was better than I thought he'd be and was 7.7 bWAR for his career, which has been surpassed by all three of our current OF. I hope he does well and helps the Giants beat the Dodgers a few times while they spend the next couple of years rebuilding.
  22. I see a lot more Rangers fans here in OK, but there are a few recent bandwagoners around
