  1. I think we can squeeze that one in during the middle of the 4th inning. Maybe add America the Beautiful for extra innings. (As a compromise, we don't have to do all four verses.)
  2. At least she had the good sense to chicken out and go low on that last note. She really needed to have her hair put up, but I thought she fought through the distraction of having it blowing in her face reasonably well.
  3. Was anyone else concerned that Berrios' fastball was sitting at 90-91? Maybe it's nothing - Rocco and Wes didn't seem to worry about it. Was it normal fluctuation? A faulty radar gun? We're Twins fans and worrying is what we do best. I can't be the only one concerned about this, can I?
  4. 39th round pick this year out of UCLA. The only times he has ever hit are in the Northwoods summer league after his sophomore year (.775 OPS) and then in his junior year at UCLA (.840 OPS). He didn't get drafted after his junior year and then posted a .606 OPS his senior year. He hasn't hit much in the GCL either. My guess is his main qualifications for AAA are having a pulse and owning an infielder's glove.

    Hate losing Davis....

If he continues on the path he was on, he will be on OK player for someone. I'm not sure what I believe, his .950 OPS this year or his .740 OPS the previous two years. Granted, almost half his PA the two previous years were in the FSL, but he's 25 and just got to AAA. He's almost as old as Buxton. His stats and career path remind me of Marty Cordova, including a MiLB breakout year at age 24. If he continues on that path, I'd say that's a success. Cordova was better than I thought he'd be and was 7.7 bWAR for his career, which has been surpassed by all three of our current OF. I hope he does well and helps the Giants beat the Dodgers a few times while they spend the next couple of years rebuilding.
  6. I see a lot more Rangers fans here in OK, but there are a few recent bandwagoners around
  7. Trading for Lynn was mentioned on another thread and was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response, but I like the idea.
  8. Same thing as every mom - "you aren't going out to play ball until you clean your room"
  9. I agree 100%. At work today I saw the score go across the bottom of the screen. I also saw "Rosario 4-4, 3B, HR" and thought at least Eddie is recovered. Then I come here and see 0-4 plus a key error and got confused. I finally checked the box score and saw that Amed Rosario had himself a pretty nice game.
  10. I hope that is right. Depending on the type, the road with leukemia can have many bumps and twists and turns. Praying for a full recovery. Baseball has had its share of tragedies and inspirational stories. I hope this becomes the latter, not the former.
  11. He's a lefty and still breathing, plus I still have my Liriano Twins jersey. I think that's a fairly complete list of positives.
  12. If he's wearing that robe, I don't know him (even if he's my brother.) Tell him (since I'm not speaking to him) that Hal McRae is the dirtiest player in history and MLB should have denied the protest in the pine tar game. Oh, and George Brett was overrated. (That last one isn't true, but that doesn't matter when talking trash.)
  13. I haven't seen that at schools I have been to, but that would make sense. I still had fun speculating about the other possibility.
  14. That 3.99 GPA is impressive, but I'm trying to figure out how one gets that. Your standard degree is 120 credits. If you get all A's except a B in a 3-credit class, it's a 3.975 (round to 3.98). If that 1-credit Library Skills class messed up a 4.0 for a Mechanical Engineering student, that would be sad (and pretty funny.)
  15. That catch has been on TV a lot - it was pretty impressive.
  16. Come on guys. Don't bust the time like the Vikings did back in the day. (Twins fans worry better than anyone.)
  17. I'm still feeling some of the pain from last year, and it felt worse than the #13 pick. (It also felt worse than the final record - 78-84?)
  18. I know it has been a couple of years, but when I see a Beloit - Cedar Rapids score, it still takes me a few second to remember which team our guys are on.
  19. We had channels 3, 6, and 8. CBS, ABC, ABC. At some point channel 6 switched to CBS (big help). Occasionally, if the weather was right and the antenna was facing the right way, we could get channel 10 (NBC), but it was very rare and pretty snowy when we got it. I think I was a freshman in HS before we got cable (and upgraded to a 19" color tv.) I have fond memories of visiting family in St Paul because we always got to see a Twins game (at the Met, except for 1981), the games we didn't go to were frequently on TV (and my uncle had color), and there was more in the paper about the Twins than the usual two sentence summary we got at home.
  20. We had Freddie Mercury on the team and marketing couldn't do something with that?
  21. It sounds like this was the jingle we needed tonight. (I was umpiring tonight, and two of the three games were worse than the Twins game.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97ECZMvbLxg
