  1. If I were PHI and played in a bandbox stadium, I would not consider Odo given his HR history. But I've never understood that front office.
  2. Another reason he should throw more sliders, I guess. If he can control those (which seems backwards).
  3. Surprised he signed for this big a cut from last year, especially with a lower option year price. I'm fine with this. Can never have too many reliable arms. For no analytical reason, in previous years I confused Colome with Rodney and, I think, Romo too. Probably all because they were under the radar Florida-based closers in fantasy leagues. All have now been recent Twins.
  4. Lots of interesting stuff in here. Nice notebook, and I'm excited for real baseball soon instead of all the armchair GM stuff. Span is from FL, isn't he? If so it seems like a good fit for many reasons.
  5. Injuries -- and possibly suspensions or covid cases -- will get him plenty of AB.
  6. Good move. Hope he's happy with the deal and doesn't feel slighted. I suspect delays were more about the uncertainty of the league-wide DH + a changing market (I think every offseason will be later rather than earlier going forward--depending how that next CBA goes).
  7. I understand that these metrics are new and generally aren't available to compare to older teams, but it's disappointing to see a list about team history that only covers this millennia.
  8. I just hope Cruz doesn't take the slow renewal signing personally at this point. It's obvious when a player doesn't want to be here (e.g. Lynn, Morrison, Brett Favre's last year in purple). Given reports on his personality, I don't think it will be a problem.
  9. FYI to the author: Gardy isn't in DET anymore. Sad to see Rosario in the Central. I like him a lot as a player (though I also agree with the decision to let him go). This makes it way harder to root for him, except against the CSW of course.
  10. In a way, I think this signing is also good for Wade's chance at making the roster.
  11. Rotate between Blankenhorn/Gordon/Austudillo based on who is hot and adjusting to MLB and various roster needs at that time. Utilize their options with an occasional emergency pitcher using that spot too. I expect a MiLB contract utility guy with some MLB at bats to be in the mix too.
  12. Seems like it's time for Enlow to turn the corner or he'll plummet on these lists next year.
  13. I always find this line intriguing. "He’s already 26-years old, so the Twins are going to have team control of him through the prime of his career." While there's often demand to get a 23yo in the bigs, there are advantages to the "late bloomers." From a business standpoint. I want to be clear that I'm not advocating for manipulating time clocks.
  14. It seems like this FO likes depth, flexibility, and short-term deals. Also, I support this mostly because I know Polanco is onboard.
  15. Does a potential Larnach/CF/Kirilloff outfield make retaining Buxton extra important, or does one end up at 1B?
  16. Too hard to tell without a minor league season last year. But offense rules all rankings, so I suppose I'll say Kirilloff because this stuff is all opinion and arbitrary anyway.
  17. I want to say both, but I'm hesitant to give Rosenthal 2 years. And I suspect Hand wants more than 2 years to maximize his unexpected free agency.
  18. Prefer Odo. Intrigued by Paxton and Tanaka.
  19. "Though Paxton is 32-years-old, he has just 750 innings of mileage on his arm, signaling that there should still be plenty of juice left in him." That's a rose-colored glasses perspective for a player with his injury history. I'd argue it's evidence that his arm never had any mileage to begin with. As a couple others have said: both. I don't think Odo and Paxton compare. Yes, Odo barely pitches last year but all signs suggest he is fully healthy, whereas Paxon would be a prove-it type contract.
  20. I've said it elsewhere on this site, but I think it's never a good idea to sign a DH to a long-term contract. A short-term deal locks down an effective bat for the roster but offers long-term flexibility with how you use the full 25+ roster over a few years. There are always exceptions of course, but a David Ortiz only comes around so often (fortunately).
  21. Dobnak is the only surprise to me. And that they think .313 wins a batting title.
  22. And no rumors of demand for Marwin anywhere either (yet).
  23. I hate to say this aloud, because it's entirely not based on quantifiable data, but I want a few players on the team who have been in championship and World Series games. That alone makes me favor Hernandez in this scenario.
