  1. As I said, I was okay with the day off, but, the questions do linger and are fair about when or if he will play CF. I mean, if he plays 4 and is off one, and does that for the season, he will be playing more than any of us ever suspected. However, I’d like to see most of that in CF and that’s where my wondering begins. Others in the game thread weren’t understanding of the day off.
  2. In the game thread yesterday there were a few comments about this. Some are convinced that he’s not healthy and the the FO is keeping something from us, that this is more than managing his recovery from off-season knee surgery. We weren’t told that he is having any lingering issues here, so when he has a day off after 4 games, it makes some wonder. I think if he plays in every 4 of 5 games this season, that’s more than anyone expects, so I’m okay with the day off even if he’s only DHing at this point. However, it is frustrating to see him NOT play in CF and that the timeline is sometime in the future they will reevaluate. At this point it’s difficult to say he’s the starting CFer because he’s really not. I get managing him, but at some point when will it be acknowledged that he is the primary DH and not the starting CFer, because that really feels like that’s what’s happening.
  3. I disagree. We needed a starter last year. That's what the trade was about. Unfortunately it didn't work out last year, but if Mahle contributes to a winning season this year, we got what we traded for. I get that down the road it could be lopsided, if the ifs pan out, but at the time of the trade, it's what we needed. And I'm glad we didn't trade for the other two Mike mentioned.
  4. And if you can’t be there in person, there’s always the game thread … 😆 (Or for me, work)
  5. Now that you’ve read the preview, come join the game thread! Good times await!
  6. Stop it. This site also has a forum to discuss football. While the purpose of this site and its formation was and always will be baseball, we are a community and do provide space for other interests. You can stick to the baseball only portions and that’s great. That’s why we are here. But some of our other posters do like a ‘one stop shop’ and enjoy talking other sports or other interests, so we do provide a space for it. As I said, baseball is our focus but we don’t discourage other interests. Feel free to pm me if you want to discuss this further, but please just move on if this blog isn’t your cup of tea.
  7. Thank you. Continue posting what you like in the blogs. Your contributions are appreciated. As an fyi, we do have a forum dedicated to Vikings a football discussion should you ever want to jump in on that. You’ll find that here. https://twinsdaily.com/forums/forum/19-minnesota-vikings-talk/
  8. We’ve played two games. While I’m not exactly not skeptical of this and have been since he was signed, let’s give it more than two games.
  9. I don’t disagree. I liked the trade. I applauded it. Merely responding to the question about who’s bitter and pointing out there are a few here who were/are still.
  10. I think there’s a lot of gray area here. Are you buying tickets the day off? How far in advance? And sometimes things are just as they, day to day and they really can’t be more certain. Many seem to want black and white answers when it’s all gray
  11. You're going to KC for the games? Are you well enough to do that?
  12. Can't help myself ... always think of that quote when people demand the truth, and sometimes that's me, too ... lol
  13. I’m sorry, but no, this is not the same old move. It was opening day and only two starters across MLB pitched into the 7th, not completing it, and a handful finished the 6th. How López was managed was pretty on par across the games today. The ‘same old move’ would have been to not let him even start the 5th or pulled during the 5th and certainly not let him start the 6th as he did.
  14. There were two who pitched 6.1, I believe. Dylan Cease of the White Sox was one … I think Cole might have been the other, or it was another well-established pitcher of Cole’s level of ‘veteran-ness’. And I think Baldelli’s pitcher mgmt yesterday was perfect for opening day. No complaints at all.
  15. There was quite a lot of disagreement with the trade when it happened. It wasn’t the majority, but there was quite a few loud voices proclaiming it was an awful trade, so I get the bitter. But maybe the better word for it should have been bittersweet … sorry to see Arraez go, but welcoming of the pitching.
  16. It’s opening day. Not uncommon to use that many in this day and age of baseball on opening day, especially with the day off today. If you look at all the teams yesterday, no one used fewer than 4 and the most used was 8. Most starters went 5 or 6, unless they were already chased from the game. A few teams with comparable scores to the Twins used 5, like Houston. Their pitchers had given up only 1 run all game when their closer blew it giving up 2 in the 9th. It’s opening day. I get people are leery because of last year but let’s wait until mid-season when we see what the trend is for this year.
  17. Check the minor league forum. That news is usually posted there in time. There is usually an article or posting listing each team prior to each team's opening days ... so ... soon. And daily updates with 'how did they fare' each day of the top prospects. https://twinsdaily.com/forums/forum/9-twins-minor-league-talk/
  18. Castro added. He made the 26-man roster
  19. I think this was an unfortunate loss. I’d rather have Coloumbe over Pagan and Sands, but wish him well
  20. I think it was their plan, but so many injuries to starters moved the piggy backers to the rotation then they were left with what they had …
  21. Right. And I think Winder was initially going to follow Archer’s starts, piggybacking. Then injuries. And Winder moved to the rotation. And, then more injuries, and then …
