  1. I just hope everyone stays healthy as the immediate depth is not strong, IMO. Who would come up? And who would they remove from the 40-man to make that happen? Kinley would be the obvious, or LaMarre, I guess. I just hope everyone stays healthy until Polanco is able to return.
  2. If anyone wants to take up this discussion in more general terms of 'this is/isn't how the game is supposed to be played,' and is beyond the Twins' responses to this play, Platoon started a thread to do just that in the 'Other Baseball' forum. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/29172-to-bunt-or-not-to-bunt-that-is-the-question/
  3. Btw ... if anyone is interested in discussing this issue in more general terms, as in, 'how the game should be played,' and are done commenting on the Twins' responses, Platoon started a thread to do just this, found in the 'Other Baseball' forum. Here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/29172-to-bunt-or-not-to-bunt-that-is-the-question/
  4. Rainis Silva was traded to the Mariners for cash considerations.
  5. Trips for pleasure are way different than trips for work. I really hate touring when I have to be on the road for work. Go to the airport, fly somewhere, get off the plane and onto a bus to the hotel, then onto another bus to the venue (or find your own way there), work for 3-4 hours, back to the hotel, get up the next day ... wash, rinse, repeat. It's EXHAUSTING. And often times we aren't even flying commercial but there is a certain amount of hassle with that, too. And sometimes the distance between cities is such that we bus or train it. And doing it across various time zones. On the other hand, the runouts we have on occasions, much easier. Traveling for work and traveling for pleasure, as you know, is different. I don't think 9/12's analogy is really that effective for that reason.
  6. Wow, that is quite a stash at CR! They are going to be an exciting team to follow this year. I just might have to get out of Chicago to see them play (but I might only get as far as Kane Co. or Beloit). And as a reminder, if anyone is still interested, there are many Kernels still available in the Adopt-a-Prospect forum! It's a great way to follow the team and individual players. Check it out! http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28867-round-2-adopt-a-prospect-2018-monday-mar-12/
  7. Jorge will be in Rochester. Not sure where Lachlan Wells will be.
  8. Lol ... okay, now we're having the same discussion in two separate threads ... which is why we try to minimize that with merging and redirecting. So I won't go on further here.
  9. Not to turn this thread into another discussion on unwritten rules, so I hope no one takes this up, but I chalk it up to stupid, unwritten rules culture. I hope they truly have moved on, but I still think upon further reading, it wasn't as big of a deal to me as I initially thought.
  10. I guess you and I read the same thing in a different way. He didn't do it. He said he could have, but didn't. To me that speaks to him just not thinking it was worth it. <shrug>
  11. Okay, this is where I draw the line ... Dozier did not say anything about chastising the kid. He said 'I could've said something to him' ... he didn't say 'I was about to scold him.' I think your characterization goes a tad too far. I don't think it's an issue for the players, and I don't think it really was at all to begin with. I think it's been well overplayed in the media. That's what I think.
  12. Well, whatever, I just don't think it's a big deal anymore. Initially I was very much, 'Why is this a deal?' Turns out it's not for the players. And it wasn't a discussion in the clubhouse, at all.
  13. When I initially read reports on this, I was like, 'What? What is their problem over this? If they think that bunt was bad, then maybe the shift was worse.' Turns out that I think the media presented some of these opinions in a certain way to garner discussion over something that really is nothing and the players themselves don't think anything more of it. Here are some tweets from Marney: It wasn't something the players brought up, but something very specific they were asked to comment on. They gave their opinions, and then it was presented to us in such a way that they were complaining about it after the game, which doesn't seem to be, and isn't, the case.
  14. I think the point was ... tracking people is fine. We have no issues with that. And I also agree, it's good. I do want to see how well or poorly Darvish does this year as one who wanted to sign him. And I may still be disappointed or relieved we didn't by season's end. But some of the posts hidden were mocking and disrespectful toward posters who thought one way or the other. Not sure why there is need for that and those types of posts won't stand.
  15. Don't know if these were the same tweets, but here are some: So it really sounds as if how it was originally reported, it was a bit ... slanted ... to garner a certain response.
  16. Feel free to discuss this here, but there has been an ongoing discussion on this in the post-game wrap thread here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/29144-article-min-7-bal-0-berri0s/page-2
  17. Oops ... sorry I didn't get the lineups up ... was at the gym and playing tennis ... didn't realize it was an early game today ...
  18. I keep checking each team’s rosters on their websites and hadn’t noticed changes yet. I did see the news segment on the CR team arriving ... it was pretty fun. I’m definitely getting older because those young men look too much like kids to me, even Toby Gardenhire.
  19. When will the minor league rosters be finalized, ormhave they been now?
  20. Right. If you are going to put a shift on, expect the batter to try and beat it. That’s playing. I just don’t think the Twins should be annoyed by it, and if they are, then I think the Orioles should be more annoyed. Whatever, game is done, we won, not that big of a deal. Just don’t know why people are talking about it like they are. (Not here, but on Twitter and in the media.)
  21. That’s just it, if you are going to get ‘gimmicky’ with a shift in the first place at that point in the game, you should expect it. Personally I think calling for the shift was kind of dumb. If anyone should be annoyed by that it should be the Orioles. I read a comment on Twitter (which was my mistake to even go there) where someone made a comment about how Sisco should have just hit the ball, play the game the way it was supposed to be played. Well, couldn’t one say that about the shift in the first place? It’s just all dumb.
  22. It wasn’t too many years ago that a few games were cancelled in Chicago for being too cold ... and I believe that was in the 30s range. And a Royals-Sox game was just cancelled this past weekend due to cold for temps not too above freezing, again 30s.
  23. That deserved an LOL, not a simple like.
