  1. It’s a little worrisome for me that we agree on something.
  2. Yeah, he looks awful in his 2nd major league game of the year.
  3. Maybe more so now that expectations are over for this year. But if we don’t get Machado ... Or re-sign Esco ... Too much sadness for me. Still tearing up a little over losing Esco. I really <3ed that guy!
  4. I thought for a minute that was mike’s and he used his yard art photos. <G>
  5. Ha! It says we both posted at the same time. I’ll merge them and see who the system chooses.
  6. Guess with all the events of the day, no one remembered that there’s a game on.

  8. I’m not really sure I get this post, but it’s Pohlad who is friends with Molitor.
  9. He won’t have a choice if it’s all he has.
  10. wow ... okay ... have a bit more time for trade others ...
  11. I love Esco and would love to see him back ... but he's far from signing someone of Machado's impact. If you sign Machado and he wants to play SS, you move Polanco to 2nd, and you leave Sano at 3rd. If you sign Machado and he's good with moving to 3rd, you have Polanco at SS and move Sano to 1st. There is a place for him either way if they'd sign him. But he won't. There isn't anyone else in FA that has that kind of impact. But, seeing as this is a thread about Mauer ... I think all this goes to show that I'm not sure what role Mauer still has on this team.
  12. Good, then let's hope for that! heh ... you and I both know what won't happen here ... but it's fun to dream.
  13. I'm going to remember you said this when they sign Machado this off season.
  14. I still question how much they've changed, though. I'm not sure what their motiviation was to begin with in posting those things all those years ago. Many of us have said we wouldn't have, so, why did they? Was it just wanting attention? Peer pressure? Or on some level they really thought those things? While the public acknowledgement of 'this is bad' along with an apology goes a long way, and while they should be given every opportunity to continue their lives after that, I still wonder ... where did this come from to begin with and have they really changed? I'm not asking for anything more than that, but ... I do wonder. The more things change, the more they stay the same. We can impose all kinds of laws and rules of behavior, in life, on social media platforms, in the workplace, etc ... but it doesn't truly change the root of the problem, and that is what is within us and how we see humanity. I don't have any answers for this current situation with Twitter. I think we need to be very careful how we 'police' individual thought and how to hold people accountable, particularly those with influence, as I don't want to see certain ideas legitimitzed. However, I do think there is a fine line there, and I'm not sure holding people accountable to more than an apology for actions they did as kids is warranted. That said, tweeting this kind of thing as adults is fair game for public shaming, and more, imo.
  15. I'm actually good with what they got back, less so for Escobar but I'm okay with it, and I think your comment about not having to worry about the 40-man with these guys is good. That said, for me, 'short-term pipeline' means contributing in 2019, of which I think Hoskin is right ... I really only see possibly Rooker, and not immediately, maybe Gordon and/or Wade, but I see them next year as up and down as injury replacement and are really another year away from any kind of real contribution to a season on the 25-man roster. I'm hoping for some big off-season signings and/or trades if we are to compete next year. And I also hope that those who had down years bounce back. I know you can't count on anything, but I'm hoping.
  16. Mostly I agree. I’m sure there are exceptions, but in this case I don’t think we really need Mauer, but we do Machado and it makes sense for us. If Mauer were to return, not that I’m advocating for it, it would have to be to a deal and role that makes sense for the team. Right now I’m not sure it’s does.
  17. There is only one 3rd baseman out there in FA that is worth signing. While it’s my dream to sign him the Twins won’t.
  18. The thing is, Machado is NOT out of our price range, considering what we will and won't have committed in terms of dollars. They could sign him, and I personally think they should go all in on him. However, they won't. But if they did, having Machado at 3rd, moving Sano to first, with Mauer as a backup, I think works for this team. And it's doable. We have very little committed in terms of money, we could make that work, and would be far better than having Mauer as your starting 1st and Sano your starting 3rd. We don't seem to have a legitimate 3rd baseman coming up anywhere soon. By the time Rooker is ready to put him in at first and have he and Sano share 1st/DH. Or, sign Machado, have him play SS, Sano 3rd, move Polanco over to 2nd, and then sign Joe to play 1st. When Rooker comes up, Joe and he split that, moving Joe to the bench. It's doable. But, that said, this isn't something the Twins will do, which is irritating, because they could.
  19. The deal they'd have to work out is a bench deal, if any deal, or no go. Do we move Sano to 1st then? I don't think Rooker will be ready, but maybe, but that's a big jump. Then if we move Sano to 1st, who players 3rd? (Machado?)
  20. And Pressly gives up a home run in his first appearance as an Astro.
  21. Yeah, I get that. Again, not my question. It was the reason for it I question. If that’s the reason for not ... because of one player’s feelings ... that’s what I was questioning.
  22. Esco’s first at bat as a DBack ... 4-Pitch walk
  23. I get the distraction part and agree. And yes, it can be a distraction on many levels. But that wasn’t what you said. I was questoning not negotiating an extension with one player because of the feelings of another.
