  1. Just tuning in. Have already had a busy day ... am looking forward to a game and a nap.
  2. I read that the recovery/rehab time is 4-6 months ... wonder if it’s a torn hip labrum, did they say exactly? So he’ll be ready to go for ST ... on another team’s roster.
  3. He actually acknowledged that in the post-game interview.
  4. I pretty much agree with this. As I stated earlier, I really think it was more of an emotional response to missing his teammates and friends who he’s relied on the past few years than pointing a finger about business decisions being made, and I get that. I’m still crying over Escobar. I won’t cry over LoMo, but that wasn’t a trade, but it almost feels like a trade ... welcome to the Twins, Tyler Austin!
  5. So, instead of the FRE, we have the THE.
  6. We’ll, it’s kind of like a trade. He’s gone, Austin is up. Yes?
  7. Moderator warning: the purpose of this thread is to track past Twins, not to continue dissecting the Dozier trade. If you want to update where he’s at from time to time, fine, as well as the others who were traded recently or long ago. Do not make this a Dozier centric or a ‘we should/shouldn’t have sold’ thread or posts will be removed. It’s obviously a subject still wanting and needing to be talked about, so start a thread or find one of the other threads already in existence, but don’t continue this debate here.
  8. You forgot to say ... This has been a CBU
  9. You said ... Escobar!
  10. I didn't read/hear Erv's comments so seriously or pointed as what some are suggesting. I read them as he's sorry to see his friends go. Yeah, it's not exactly what he said and the exact words he used seem to imply some kind of finger pointing, but Erv knows how this goes. He's not new to baseball nor new to teams struggling and shaking things up. He certainly knows that this is the business end of the game. But ... the teammates and friends who he has relied on over the past few years, are no longer here. Whether it was right or wrong, the FO made a decision and I think Erv's response was more of a personal one rather than a business one.
  11. God Bless America isn’t any kind of official song. It’s a ditty written by Irving Berlin. I think standing for that, elevating it to the level of the anthem, is actually disrespectful to the anthem. Maybe the solution for me is to not spend my money going to sporting events altogether. I have great respect for those who serve, but we are not governed by the military and forcing us all, athletes included, to participate in this sanctimonious crap is really the antithesis of what this country used to stand for. I stand for the anthem because it’s my choice to. I don’t stand for anything else. But I’m beginning to wonder now if I should choose not to stand for anything and lodge my own protest at what sporting events have become.
  12. Is it required for them to be on field during the anthem? If they don’t want players to take a knee, allow them to not be onfield. I personally think sporting events have become too much of a display of forced patriotism and too ... militarized ... for lack of a better way to put it.
  13. And I don’t disagree with that, either. I’m trusting that those who evaluate will know what they’re looking for in their decision-making process. I want to see what he does in this start.
  14. Maybe all he’s good for is AAA depth; or maybe his ultimate role is as a relieve; or maybe he will be a back end rotation guy. I’d guess that the FO does have some idea of that, but before making decisions on his future want to see what he can do where he is right now. I don’t have any issue with that as it is most definitely decision time about his future one way or the other. I think the FO is more certain of the direction of the others. I don’t know, it’s just my guess. It’s not like Kohl hasn’t earned a start. Yes, I get that most of us would rather see one of the others mentioned ... so would I, especially Gonsalves ... but Gonsalves just pitched. We hear all the time you can never have too many arms and I’d like to see what Kohl can or can’t do. I’m more hopeful of the other pitchers, but I still want to see what Kohl does, good or bad. But I really hope that Gonsalves is the next one up making the next open start.
  15. Thorpe lost two years of development time due to injury and illness. And he’s still only 22. I’m hoping we see him next year, and I’m hopeful his potential exceeds Stewart’s. Call ups aren’t about deserving it from fan perspective. We need to make decisions on Stewart at the end of THIS season. The time for Stewart is now, not because he’s ‘deserving’ but because we need to see what he can do. And it’s not like Stewart hasn’t worked hard and isn’t deserving of an opportunity to show what he can do. We’re out of it, let’s evaluate what he has. That’s what this is about.
  16. You need the hashtag for this to work.
  17. I think you answered your own why in your post. Gonsalves just pitched, they already know what they have in Romero and he definitely figures into the future, and Thorpe is already pretty high in innings, is only in AA and isn’t really ready. We need to see what Kohl has before the end of this season. This is, IMO, a really good move and a good time to make it.
  18. I was just thinking this exactly. I was just going to post this same thought in another thread.
  19. I’ll take that $20! http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30982-article-report-twins-to-promote-kohl-stewart-for-his-mlb-debut/
  20. Color me surprised, which is a nice change from disappointed. It’s time to see what Stewart has and how it plays in the majors. Not convinced he stays as a starter if he eventually sticks in the MLB, but it’s time to see him and see what we have. He will need to be protected this year anyway, and there is currently space on the 40-man, so it’s as good a time as any. Usually we are perplexed wondering why we are seeing certain players, but I think this is a good and sound move. As much as I’d like to see Gonsalves, we knew it wasn’t going to be him since he just pitched.
  21. Right. One missed start.
  22. Sprained/strained wrist. It happened during the game he last pitched. Initial reports were that they thought he'd still be able to make his next start ... apparently not.
  23. I'll give them tonight. Who knows when his flight was or if he even got out yesterday; he might not arrive until today. That said ... he could come in off the bench for LoMo. But hopefully he'll play tomorrow ...
  24. No way they pitch Odo on 3 days rest ... unless their plan is a BP game and only have him pitch a couple innings. It's buying time before something. Just what, who knows. Or just filling the roster until they decide who makes the start on Sunday. Who is scheduled in Rochester for Sunday?
