    It was a good game ... right up until it wasn't ... but it's done now so Soldier Field will be quiet until soccer and rugby games, and summer concerts start up.

    What does it show ... a weak offense or a tough defense? Glad the Bears are up 6-3, but man ... that unrecovered fumble call was weird ... it negated the catch ... I didn’t get that.

    I might go see it today, instead of channel surf the Bears game. Maybe the theatre will be somewhat 'quiet' with everyone else invested in the game.

    Sort of, I guess ... if anyone wants to comment on the game. I will likely channel surf to/from the game. Not a huge football fan, but ... hey ... might as well jump on the local bandwagon for a bit, however long it lasts ... which I hope is at least through today's game because, well, I don't like Eagles fans.

    Maybe the answer is to not have a place to immortalize only a select few players and to not have a process where only a few who played the game are enshrined. I know there are great players whose talents were just, well, more, but they didn’t do it completely alone. They had teammates. They had coaches and managers. Scouts and owners who gave them their shot. Family and friends who supported them. <shrug> I guess I’m one who thinks the HOF is kind of overrated. The game, that’s what I love. And all the players who make it come to life, not just the superstars. They don’t do it alone and aren’t often the ones who ... make it entertaining. What about players like Astudillo who will never reach HOF status but who is someone you’d buy a ticket to see play? Yeah, I think the HOF is overrated and not filled with everyone who makes this game what it is.

    All fair. And I’m likely ‘worrying’ about nothing, but I just can’t so easily discount then, because it’s baseball and one never knows. But it does make me pause when they at least are trying to play. I guess it’s better to not pretend if you aren’t serious, but I’d still like it if the Twins at least entertained the idea. It annoys me to hear that the White Sox are showing interest when we aren’t.

    I’m not sure I agree with you on Reinsdorf, but I don’t completely disagree either. The White Sox have been willing, imo, to pull the trigger in a few things when they should have. It just remains to be seen if that worked. But the bottom line is, whether or not Machado signs there, he was invited there and he went. There is interest, strong interest, from them. The Yankees, Dodgers and Cubs seem not to be interested ... although that could just be appearances so the price doesn’t skyrocket ... but, if one of those 3 aren’t in on him and don’t sign him ... who else will? If the ChiSox get him, I think it’s a game changer for them, and I will ‘aaaaargh!’ every time I see him in that uniform facing us.

    I saw the Mary Poppins sequel last night. Eh. It was ‘delightful’ enough, and entertaining enough, but it will NOT reach the iconic levels that Julie Andrews created the first go ‘round. They called it a sequel, but it was really a remake without calling it that because, well, that can never be remade. Some ‘surprise’ appearances, but other than that, it just didn’t live up to the original, which was practically perfect in every way. This just wasn’t that.

    I think they project fairly well in a year or two. They will have Machado already and can add a piece or two then. Of course they are as reliant as anyone on prospects coming forth. I would just really, really, really hate to see Machado on a winning White Sox team in 2-3 years. If he can go there, he can come here. The bottom line is ... he went to Chicago and met with them face to face ... ugh.

    Whatever the reasons for it, it was what it was. But I do agree Polanco needs to move to second and I’d prefer he did it this year and not sit on our thumbs waiting for Lewis. Get Polanco established at 2nd BEFORE Lewis comes up. So I want them to trade for or sign a legit SS now ... there’s still one available on the FA market, but the White Sox are closer to signing him than we are. The White Sox.

    What was the service time clock back then? Not to mention that it took 5 years for things to click for the young ones, plus there were a couple of timely trades and additions.
