    This question was answered in the Gibson to the IL thread. Putting him on the IL allowed them to recall Thorpe before the 10 days was up from when he was sent down.

    This is very likely related to the E. Coli, but it could have taken time to manifest, That said, training staff can’t diagnose this. This is an issue for a GE doctor and a series of tests. It probably reached a point where he finally went to a doctor. You aren’t diagnosed with this and then live with it for the season. I’m giving him the benefit of a doubt.

    Unless he actually is away from the team? Dunno. But this diagnosis would explain others noticing how ‘gaunt’ he looks.

    Yes. The record was at 7 for players with 20 or more home runs in a season. It was just a matter of time with Polanco sitting at 19 for so long. And if Gonzo can hit a few more, we could wind up with 9.
