  1. This year, those entering Canada are subject to random testing as well as a vaccine requirement. Many countries, not just Canada, have vaccine requirements. Some are lifting them. Last year the vaccines were just rolling out so they didn't have a requirement at the border. They do as of January. It's another country. They get to do what they want no matter how unfair it seems to some.
  2. No, a baseball site is not an arbiter of medical information ... but we are also not an arbiter of medical misinformation. That's the point of Nick's statement. In the forums we have removed discussion on BOTH sides of this issue ... both ... not just one, so you can claim bias all you want, but you are wrong. And we have given warning points to BOTH pro and con when they get combative, confrontational, rude (or worse) and refuse to stay to the topic. This is why we don't want to even go down this road of any comments regarding covid (or other topics such as politics and racism, etc) because the conversations become, well ... not even close to baseball related and the defensiveness and meanness and judgement and whatnot come out and it's just ugly. We want to discuss baseball, so leave your crap at home. But a front-page article is out of the moderators' control. As in ... we have no control what the writers write, and then we have to struggle with the fallout, especially when it appears there is a double standard. There just isn't in this case, though. Satire isn't for everyone; and some subjects of satire definitely aren't for everyone, especially known taboo subject matter. And we hate it as much as you, trust me, probably even more; yes, more, way more. And it sucks. Because people can't just 'let it go' ... they have to become 'old men screaming at clouds.' And that's when we have to step in. To try and redirect the discussion. You have choices. You can leave it alone and choose another baseball thread to comment on. You can discuss civilly or you can scream and rant and deal with the consequences. Or you can leave the site entirely, but we'd miss you in game threads. Your choice. And I'm locking this from further comment for the time being, because I'm tired and have stuff to do and I don't trust what will continue happening.
  3. Actually, many countries, not just Canada, have the same rule.
  4. Or the starting pitcher is already on the IL. There is no need to move them to the restricted list. What I had heard, 4 pitchers, including a starter and one position player
  5. Those players will have to be moved to the restricted list ... so ... they don't need to necessarily publicly state who, it will be listed. What we won't know is who already on the IL is unvaccinated, just those on the current 26-man who have to be removed before they travel.
  6. If Cave is vaccinated ...
  7. Well, girls sports weren’t as well funded or organized back in my day. I remember playing volleyball in 9th grade … 1st time there was a team for it and we didn’t play anywhere but against each other. I didn’t continue with it beyond that point. I did play summer softball from the time I was 9 through high school, but never went out for the sport in h,s, because I was usually too busy with music activities. But our summer league team had a lot of the h.s. team and we won a championship one year. That year I played 2nd. But I also pitched occasionally and caught some games. (Guess I was a utility player.) I did play tennis and was on the team in h,s,, but not varsity. I stopped playing softball several years ago due to injuries and getting too old for that. Tennis I still play regularly … once/twice a week as my work schedule allows.
  8. I’m giving my body to science. Can’t stand the idea of being buried or having my whole body being put into a furnace. Would rather be cut up and dissected in some anatomy class and then turned into ash. Morbid talk. Kind of how I feel about the Twins today. But go Twins! ?
  9. Martin is the #2 prospect in our system; SWR is our #5 prospect. https://twinsdaily.com/minnesota-twins-top-prospects-rankings/2022/
  10. Between injuries and Covid, we are missing too many pieces. And we need to do much better in the run department. And when yet another person goes out for whatever reason, we have to shuffle again. We have too many games when we aren’t scoring. The east coast teams were always going to be tough with everyone there, but with half our team being AAA we are going to get creamed. It’s going to be a tough time.
  11. I actually waivered on that for a while and am now thinking I should change it to 1-2
  12. Okay ... clean the bathrooms or watch the game ... hmmmm .... think I'll go clean the bathroom ...
  13. Be careful what you wish for ...
  14. People would probably go nuts to know I did this but ... my Mom had some ticket stubs from the 1965 All-Star game and 1965 WS ... when we were going through everything at my parent's house when they were getting ready to sell, I just threw those things away. There may have been some kind of a program book in there from that year, too. Eh, they weren't games I attended and I doubt they had all that much value and not worth my time to look it up. I'm not a collector, either, but I have a few things that I do love ... a signed Escobar ball and a signed Rosario bat ... my two Eddies! ❤️ Those are most definitely in the category of 'most treasured' as they were and still are, favorites and two players I miss still. I have a signed baseball from Tony Oliva that he tossed to me over the fence at a ST practice, and we chatted briefly. He does that quite a lot at ST. In a raffle I got a signed Mitch Garver baseball. In a game drawing from ST one year, I won a batting helmet signed by Hunter, Jones and Stewart. And then I have this baseball I got at a game in 1986. Was sitting over the Twins dugout and when Bert ended the inning with a strikeout, the catcher threw the ball back to him and as he walked into the dugout, tossed it up to me. It's not signed, but I still have that ball. Oh, and somewhere in my storage room, in a box of stuff labeled 'memories', I have a scorecard from a game, don't remember when, mid-70s, that Rod Carew signed. I guess for 'not collecting' I have more than a few things. But none of these things I actively sought out myself ... except maybe the autograph from Carew when I was a kid.
  15. And the taxi squad isn't just for those out with Covid, but also for those who cannot make the trip to Canada. I believe the Covid rules (as far as calling up players and their status on/off the 40-man) apply? Yes?
  16. I wonder if any of those players are already on the IL? If so, we likely won’t see any ‘restricted’ moves for them. Re Alcala … as much as I want him back (and doing well) I hope he’s not rushed through his rehab
  17. I performed the anti-jinx ... so ... not sure what else to say
  18. I can't believe there is so much time between games ...
  19. One in the field, one as DH ... because who else?
  20. And ... the lineups: TWINS 1. Byron Buxton (R) DH 2. Luis Arraez (L) 1B 3. Kyle Garlick (R) LF 4. Jorge Polanco (S) 2B 5. Trevor Larnach (L) RF 6. Jose Miranda (R) 3B 7. Nick Gordon (L) CF 8. Ryan Jeffers (R) C 9. Jermaine Palacios (R) SS TIGERS 1. Willi Castro (S) CF 2. Jonathan Schoop (R) DH 3. Harold Castro (L) LF 4. Javier Baez (R) SS 5. Spencer Torkelson (R) 1B 6. Kody Clemens (L) 2B 7. Jeimer Candelario (S) 3B 8. Daz Cameron (R) RF 9. Tucker Barnhart (S) C
  21. ooops .... <turns in a circle three times, spits over both shoulders, does 10 burpees, and bangs head against wall> That should counter it
  22. Not sure what you're looking at but this is what I see:
  23. So ... looking at the next game ... the Tigers' starter is 0-1, 20.75 ERA, 1 K ...
