  1. What are you saying? That you can be coached to not let the ball hit you in the head?
  2. Maybe … I’ll be in town then, but will depend on what my Mom wants to do … maybe I’ll bring her along? Not sure y’all could handle her 95-yr-old spryness
  3. I wanted to vote for all of the above but you didn’t set the poll for multiple answers. 🙂
  4. Then going in on the White Sox seems like the end he wanted
  5. But how close were they to finalizing a deal? If they jumped to the sox that quickly I just think that was their hope all along.
  6. Okay, one person said it was. But when we are dealing with billionaires and big money deals, I guess I get the not surprising sort of attitude. Not that this specific scenario should have been expected, but I guess it’s not surprising to me that some sort of hitch came up and that smooth sailing from A to B is just not a thing.
  7. That is not what anyone said, but thanks for the hyperbole. But it is possible that the Ishbia’s interest in the Twins was all a ruse and their real interest all along was the White Sox. This might not be the Pohlads blowing it, but they might possibly got stupidly played. These guys with the money they have … I just think that’s more likely. And I don’t recall anyone saying it was fine.
  8. I just don’t know. If they were on such a fast track, I think we’d be waiting for MLB/ownership approval. I just find it suspicious that the Ishbias were so public and so fast, then we find out they have an ownership stake with the White Sox. I don’t think this is about Glen Taylor. But hey, you are suspicious of that, I’m suspicious of the other. I guess we will see. I really hope you are wrong, though, otherwise we will be jumping from the frying pan to the fire and that would be bad for all of us. One thing for certain, few owners really care what we think. They’re gonna do what they want for themselves.
  9. Well, I wouldn’t mind seeing the demise even if it will likely make the ChiSox better. Reinsdorf is a far worse owner than the Pohlads, imo
  10. So no one thinks it’s possible that perhaps another owner has been chosen? Do y’all think the Ishbia brothers were the only ones interested? The more I think about it the more I think the Ishbia brothers ‘interest’ in the Twins was a ruse. Their interest was made public so quickly … no one thinks there is suspect in that? Whatever happens with the Twins, and I still think a deal will go through with a new owner, I will enjoy the hostile takeover of the White Sox. And the only way they are getting a new stadium is if it is privately financed. And the Chicago Fire owner is interested in building a soccer pitch on the 78 … and will finance it himself, The state has already said no to the White Sox and the city doesn’t have the money.
  11. Rocco isn’t in charge of development. But yes, Falvey does oversee that and getting the right people in place throughout the minors to develop players is imperative.
  12. With that kind of money it always makes me a bit skeptical when someone goes so public about it
  13. the Sox will not get the funding from the state or the city for a new stadium at the 78. Period. There is no support for it, unless it is self-financed and Reinsdorf already said he wants some ridiculously high percentage from the city and state. Really not happening. He hasn’t even paid off his bonds yet from the build of their current stadium. I wonder if the Ishbias decided to buy more shares in the White Sox because they were told another buyer will be getting the Twins. Or, more likely, the White Sox were their Target all along. Once it was revealed some time ago they had a stake in the ChiSox, it made me wonder. And I hope it will be a hostile take over. That will be fun to watch in this case
  14. So you have no in-person observations or photos to share?
  15. Anyone down in the Fort? Going down soon? Please share with us your photos and observations. Fill up this feed with all that fun baseball stuff!
  16. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/hal-steinbrenner-announces-yankees-to-change-longstanding-facial-hair-policy/ar-AA1zwjh7?ocid=BingNewsSerp Wonder how many well-groomed beards we’ll see in the lineup?
  17. I’m one of those who has a pretty narrow definition of ace. To me it’s a career term and defines a very special pitcher, and there just aren’t many. And I don’t worry one iota whether or not we have one on the roster. That said, I think there are many pitchers who can have an ace-like season and can have great careers. I don’t buy into the ‘we need an ace in order to compete or win the WS’. Maybe a pitcher (or two) who has an ace-like season would help. Or maybe pitchers who just keep us in games and a BP that is ‘mow ‘em down, shut ‘em down.’ I think Ryan has the stuff to be a very good pitcher and could have one of ‘those’ season. If I were a betting person, and I said this earlier, I think Ober or Lopez are more likely candidates to be that ace this season. Hey, maybe all three will be? Unfortunately, I think we still have an offense problem. We will see.
  18. Ace status in 2025 ... hmm ... I guess my thought is that it's possible for many to have 'that year' in their career. I don't see him as a career ace, though, and I think it would be a real leap for him to even be an ace for a single season. I think Lopez (if he can stay away from stretches of bad) and Ober have that potential more than Ryan. But I do hope Ryan can have a great year and remain healthy.
  19. You choose or select your favourites. You pick your nose. 🤣 (Couldn't resist.) That said, I'm really only interested in those who will/might make the 26-man roster. The rest? Eh, don't really care. Would rather see our prospects with hopeful futures than maybes. Ynoa and Cartaya might interest me if I see a resurgence from them. Still, not likely either making the roster, but if they prove 'good enough' that is good depth to have and maybe puts them in a 'could help down the road' category if there are injuries or trades.
  20. That’s fine. Many don’t like him, and I’m not suggesting you need to like him. But he was a fine player, so he does have good baseball sense. That doesn’t always translate into being a good manager. Many people here who dislike him as a manager claim he doesn’t know baseball. That’s just not true. There’s a reason that some of the best players of the game don’t always become the best managers of the game. Given the player he was I find some of his managerial decisions even more perplexing. And it’s not because he doesn’t know game. Thats all I’m saying, that I think it’s ridiculous to claim he has no sense of the game.
  21. I think this is a ridiculous comment. Seriously. I’m not suggesting that he’s a great manager, or even good, but he was a very, very good player. You don’t get that way on pure talent alone. I think he has very good baseball sense. But not the best manager sense. It’s unfortunate that his life as a player doesn’t translate as well as a manager.
  22. If there will be it won’t start until into ST

  24. I haven’t heard him say he doesn’t want to play 2nd or refusing to put in the work. I’ve heard the Twins say that he is taking reps and working on 2nd but that he is our 3rd baseman and that will be his primary position. Developing yips? I don’t think that’s the case, nor is him refusing to play elsewhere. He has stated a preference for third, but he hasn’t refused to play elsewhere or to put in the work to play elsewhere.
  25. Actually, it’s been stated by Falvey that Lewis will be the 3B this year but that they may play him occasionally at 2nd. That’s why he’s been working out at 2nd, in case he needs to bump b over from time to time, but he’s the 3B
