  1. This is awesome! Welcome!
  2. I live in near south Chicago ... an easy bike ride or two stops on the L away from the Sox park. I’ve never had any issue with fans at the game. Most know their team and the sport so conversation is usually pretty easy; and there are usually plenty of Twins fans at the games, too, so I don’t feel completely outnumbered. Of course, even though I live in Chicago, I’m a visitor when I go to games and behave accordingly. But being in the Midwest and in a city with a rival division team, I still see plenty of games. But I do miss the local coverage and having a local spot to watch games. TD is great at bridging that gap, and game threads have become my local sports bar. Kenny Williams lived in my building for a couple years and had a parking space next to mine. I do wonder if he ever noticed the Twins bumper sticker on my car.
  3. You need to get your name updated to WATwinsFan!
  4. Well, when you answer ‘A’ for all the questions to hedge your bets, that’s what happens!
  5. I’m not sure about the $108, but I saw tix $9 to $31
  6. So everyone is up on the full conversation of this proposal, there is a 2nd thread here on this subject: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36344-proposed-playoff-expansion-with-a-reality-tv-twist/
  7. ST has been a ‘must do’ in my calendar for a long time, and I tell any baseball fan, it’s a ‘must do’ experience at least once in a lifetime, more if you can manage it. My first ST was in 1991. After a handful, I missed going ‘98-00. Since 2001, I haven’t missed. I have never been for longer than a week or two ... I still have a full time job ... but it’s always a highlight for this baseball fan.
  8. Seth asked, ‘What more could he do?’ And this is a good answer. Some gesture like this could go a long way. I don’t know him so will take him at face value and believe he is truly sorry.
  9. Yes, the leaked medicals and how it was characterized is on them. Of course, the press is going to have their say, but to the extent the press went at it was Boston up and down. And then they walked it back a bit with a statement saying ‘They didn’t think he could be a starter based on his medicals’ but that was still too much to say publicly as it just fueled it all even more. They could have left much of that quiet, and didn’t. Graterol didn’t need to be called ‘damaged goods’ ... while that characteristic was media generated, it got its start from how Boston handled the halt of the trade. They could have and should have handled it differently, imo. But then still wanting him along with another top 10 from our system? Seriously? That was laughable. You can defend them all you want and we will remain in disagreement. I don’t think it was cold feet, just poorly managed. I couldn’t say exactly by whom, because I don’t know what exactly was happening internally.
  10. Can’t answer the cold feet thing, because that wasn’t my claim. But I do think it was all handled poorly, even upon conclusion of both deals.
  11. The first time I heard that name, I was ‘Who the heck is Jordy Blaze?’ That thought likely came at 11:16am and not the brilliant hour of 11:16pm
  12. Well, I do do my best thinking at night so it’s possible I could get hit with brilliance
  13. I think it’s funny that Boston fans will have to cheer on someone named Jeter.
  14. Those rumors were in addition to, not instead of, but it was Boston’s ask and the Twins rightfully said no
  15. Stop it! Troublemaker! As if we didn’t have enough drama!
  16. From what I’ve read he won’t be landing in Boston. But, again, who knows
  17. I don’t disagree. And yeah, who knows. But my comment was based on LaVelle’s very recent post that there has been a lot of movement this morning and an update would be coming soon. Said that Graterol and another piece would be outgoing, and Maeda and a little something else would be coming in. Don’t know to whom or from whom beyond Twins and Dodgers.
  18. The Twins did offer someone in addition to Graterol ... don't know who, but supposedly in the 15-20 range. Boston said no. Boston wants a top 10 in addition to Graterol. And good for the FO to say no to that. I don't know what's in the medicals, either ... but Boston does, and Boston still wants him. That should say something. What's been said as that they no longer view him as a starter (which really isn't anything new, imo), but they still want him. They've said no to our offers and we're not offering a top 10 in addition. So ... they are the ones who have said no to the trade. But I'm okay with keeping Graterol. There's still a possibility of working out a trade with the Dodgers for Maeda. Not sure what will get it done, though, or if that will get done at this point.
  19. Yep! This is what I've been saying. I even understand if after seeing the medicals that they want a different pitcher, but that they are still asking for Graterol PLUS another top 10 prospect? For Maeda? Come on. More is at play here than just medicals. Let the Dodgers chip in more then.
  20. I think the Twins offered that, but it was rejected.
  21. I don't disagree. Their medical team concluded what most already knew. I think it's reasonable to think that they thought they could find the right tweak and have an ace starter. and their medicals confirmed what others already knew and were already saying. That's reasonable. But what's not reasonable is their handling after that. And asking for a top 10 ON TOP OF Graterol? That's where it gets shady for me. The 'Come on Twins, cough it up' attitude. Do you also think it reasonable that Falvey made other offers and suggestions? I do. But Boston seemed intent on Graterol AND another top 10 in our system. Something wasn't quite right there. If Graterol is 'damaged goods' ... as he was called in the Boston press, which really isn't the truth ... then why still want him at all? Yeah ... this isn't truly about the medicals, imo.
  22. I disagree because I don't think this is really about the medicals at this point. They concluded from the medicals that Graterol wasn't likely going to be a starter. Well ... is that new? Not really. And I don't blame them for wanting someone else because it wasn't going to fit their needs. But, they still wanted Graterol ... AND another top 10 prospect? That's the part where I say ... ummmm ... you don't like Graterol, but still want him, and someone equally good, too? That handling was bad and made them look worse. That's where you say, "no, get real". If they could have a different prospect in place of Graterol, this would all be different. But no ... they still wanted him AND. That part bugs me.
