    There are tons of really good players who never get their cup o' coffee. Many of them probably would have been excellent MLB players. Opportunity IS rare. Many players to not get an opportunity, and if they do get one and do not cash in, they are done. Obviously some bias here...but one of my former high school players was in the Blue Jays and Phillies organizations for the better part of the 2010s. Almost got a chance, but didn't. Ended up playing in the Independent League and winning a national triple crown. Brewers gave him a chance after that...it came down to him vs. Jesus Aguilar. Aguilar won (who played ages 24-26 with the Guardians with a total of 60 ABs and almost did not get a chance himself). Logan Morrison ended his career on that team LOL.

    I'm not big on Snell either. But would love to clear up money for Woodruff/Montgomery/Urias/Hader. Although I am not sure if Urias is still in trouble or if LA is ready to part ways. The bats left in FA aren't all that great...

    I'm sure it is highly unlikely to sign a big FA...but if we clear up some $, why is it 100% off the table?

    Wasn't talking about trading for a SP. Why would a high dollar FA pitcher be off the table if we create money for one? I was talking about allocating those players salaries for a FA top end of the rotation SP (or Hader). Who has been offered for Polanco or Kepler?

    Are you referring to Brad Keller? Because he is a FA (and one definitely worth looking into). Those other guys are going to cost WAY more than Julien.

    Giants signed Hicks to be a starter apparently. Seems like a goofy move, but if it works out, they got him on the cheap.

    If I am the Twins FO, I am doing everything in my power to trade Vazquez, Kepler, and Polanco this off-season...for whatever they can get. We have perfectly reasonable replacements for all of them, and that is a lot of money that can go towards an ace or a solid #2. Or we can sign Hader and have an amazing bullpen. Kepler and Polanco may be at their apex value NOW. These guys still out there... Snell/Woodruff/Montgomery/Urias (and Kershaw but I'm sure he signs with LAD or retires)

    Hasn't the deadline passed for offering a QO? Or are you talking for next year? Also, they would only get that comp pick if Kepler signs elsewhere for at least $50.

    Um...I can think of quite a few other ways to spend $20-$25 than Kepler.

    We done got lots of new fellers coming up soon. And some young fellers who are already intricate pieces of our puzzle. Are any of these vets worth signing to 1 or 2 year deals for mentorship and part-time roles? The FA market appears to be pretty expensive...we'd probably have to pick and choose very carefully. A front of the rotation pitcher looks unlikely. 1B: Votto 3B: Turner (obviously will cost a little more) OF: Pillar/Duval SP: Cueto/Ryu RP: Matt Moore/Ottavino/Stanek Anyone of these guys grab your attention? Anyone else that we might be able to get on the cheap?

    Fairly certain Farmer signed back with Reds, but I could be wrong. I see Snell getting something like 6/150. Seattle is a very intriguing trade partner...could see them signing Snell and trading Castillo. Would love it to be us. Would give up Lee, Polanco, and SWR kind of deal...

    You're probably right. My thought process was there are 2 different versions of Cease, and if the sox do not want to roll the dice on the bad version, maybe they would take some major league talent to help bridge an IF and OF position...

    If we can't find a SP worthy of moving the needle, would it make sense to invest in Hader instead? Filthy bullpens win playoff games...

    It is a really weird situation and difficult to gauge who they might get back. If I was them, I would wait until the deadline and see if they are in contention...but it sounds like it might happen soon.

    What is your definition of selling the farm? The only reason we COULD have a chance getting Soto (or Alonso) is the fact we would get them for only 1 year. Otherwise we have no chance. In these scenarios though, the playing fields are even because it comes down to farm systems and expendable pieces, and we have a pretty good ones.

    There is no way Jeffers would get us Burnes. Or Alcantara. These trade values from some of these sites are laughable.
