    Everyone knew the Twins weren't going to sign him. No team would make a trade for someone who was going to be a free agent.

    The very last part, about Cleveland having the second-longest drought (and the longest drought in the AL). My apologies for not being more clear.

    I also understand the argument that you have to be sure to win game 6 in order for there to even be a game 7, but I think the stronger argument is that you have to have a plan for game 7 in mind while you are managing game 6. It would be interesting to hear Maddon second guessing himself after he has time to process his decisions for a while.

    Regarding Martinez making the final out, there were no position players left on the bench to pinch hit. You can make the argument that he shouldn't have been in the game in the first place but there's no way to predict it would be his spot in the lineup that would be up at the end of the game.

    But I'd still hire him over almost any other manager in the game.

    That's one of the reasons I was hoping Cleveland would win. Plus I guess I default to the AL if I don't have a horse in the race.

    I'll always remember the time in 2005 when the Twins beat the Sox and Freddy Garcia 1-0. The only hit he allowed was a dinger to Jacque Jones in the 8th. Santana got the win.

    It wasn't until about 20 minutes ago that it occurred to me that the Twins were playing. And now in spite of how things stand with my favorite team I've got the game on. Small glimmer of significance: if the Twins win this game it knocks the Royals out of the postseason.

    This is an interesting point. HS hockey players can leave school for junior hockey. There are a number of private high schools that have missions to develop on-court skills for basketball players. I'm not aware of anything similar for baseball players.

    I think the Buxton Era started on June, 4, 2012. He has matured and improved since that date and that will continue. It's a process, but he will be a top-flight major leaguer.

    The point is well taken but I still won't wear the shirt after the 24th. And don't take my point as being real important. The shirt has no impact one way or the other about whether I'll go or how much I enjoy the event.

    Just got around to reading this thread. I had seen the shirt design but hadn't stopped to think about it. I've always been a Twins fan, and it hurts to see them having such a bad year. I don't like dissing the team. I'll wear the shirt that day (I have my price, and free drinks meets my price) but after that it's going in the donate-to-charity pile.

    Dozier's first AB, solo HR. Dozier's second AB, 2-run HR. Now he's up with 2 runners on.

    Reminds me of the time Rosario stole third in Detroit when the shift was on. I thought it was a great heads-up play but he got criticized for it. This was a good heads-up play by Rosario and Glynn.

    If this continues Dozier may become the first non-juicer to hit 62.
