    Counting this game the Twins have 26 games this month. Going into this game they have 12 wins. It would be good to have a month that doesn't have a losing record.

    There's good reason to tank in the NBA, less in hockey and football and essentially no reason at all to do so in baseball. You can win it all in the NBA with 3 really good players, and the draft is much more of a sure thing providing immediate benefit compared with other sports. That's why the NBA has a draft lottery and the other sports don't. Tanking in baseball for the purpose of the draft and so forth is pretty much pointless.

    It will be quite a while before I can read what everyone has said, but I'll put this in here now. There are two linked actions here: One, firing Ryan and, two, hiring the next GM. Firing Ryan is by far the less important of the two.

    Tony the Tiger was voiced by the incomparable Thurl Ravenscroft. Mr. Ravenscroft was also well known to those of us of ChiTown's vintage (I said us, don't give me grief) because he sang the Grinch song.

    My family has taken a number of vacations at the Dells. In 2003 (I think?) we encountered Tom Prince and his family. My wife had a nice conversation with him.
