  1. Just now got caught up on the thread. I am astounded that nobody mentioned the first Canada's band. Here's the title track from my favourite of their albums.
  2. Just checked in and saw that I was mentioned. I'll tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. First of all, I've never been a good golfer. I'd usually hit 2 or 3 good shots in an 18-hole round. I think I've played once in the last 15 years. So. City Park-Rec tournament at the local 9-hole course, probably 1971, which made me 15 years old. Par 3, 170 yards or so, slightly uphill. I believe I used a 3-iron because I didn't know any better. I swung hard, hard enough that I lifted my head a little and bladed the shot. I'm surprised I didn't cut the ball. So it's basically a line drive that bounced once or twice and then bounced again right where the hole happened to be. The ball probably would have wound up 30 yards past the hole otherwise. I challenge anyone to describe a luckier, less-deserved ace.
  3. Winnah! (Sorry, got here a little late.)
  4. And he's not the offensive star of the game.
  5. Thank you Whitie bullpen. HBP, BB, BB, BB.
  6. Nice double. Now let's see if Sano can bunt him over to third.
  7. Kevin Gorg is OK but he's no Audra Martin.
  8. Trivia question about Jeter finishing second to Morneau in the 2006 MVP vote... I will always remember hearing about that and going to the New York Post web site to see what their coverage was like. Large headline: JETER LOSES MVP! It was beyond ridiculous, even for the Post.
  9. Such is the life of a Twins fan in Chicago. Our condolences.
  10. Frazier removed from the game. Dickbert saying he may not be eligible to play since it was after the original lineup cards were exchanged. Changed.
  11. Dickbert says the whities have a last-minute lineup change.
  12. Like I mentioned last night, the Twins have 26 games in July. They've won 13. So we know what one more win means for this month. Let's go, boys.
  13. Plus that was in the mid-70's when all clothing was skin tight. Remember what basketball unis looked like then? Yikes!
  14. Reminds me of one of the best lines Souhan ever wrote. He described Matthew LeCroy as a baseball player trapped in the body of a softball player.
  15. I looked it up--they wore the shorts three times in the 1976 season. Thankfully, no other team has ever done that.
  16. If/when Mejia pitches for the Twins he will be (I believe) the second player named Adalberto in Twins history. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/ortizju01.shtml
  17. Yep. Good fit for an NL team. Utility infielder with enough bat to pinch hit and enough wheels to pinch run.
