  1. It was a great move for Falvey to get involved in this. This is how a mid-market team gets in the World Series. It doesn't happen by signing free agents to Mauer contracts.
  2. I would continue to talk. They have a lousy farm system, bundle up some of our excess so they can save face. #3 starting pitchers, reasonably priced for 4 years don't grow on trees.
  3. Mike, would you quit living in the past. We will always have more prospects than money and Falvey completely controls prospects. Darvish we came in 2nd, Corbin was never on our radar. Who on the board would trade Buxton for Stroman? Tell us which free agent we should have signed instead of JD. Stop confusing free agency with Christmas.
  4. The board was screaming to sign old man Ryu. If the board truly wants to win now, Maeda is the way to go. I hate to see Balazovic or Duran even mentioned, but it's time to win.
  5. Offer them just enough to save face. A Trevor May or The Turtle type.
  6. Agree. Let the market come to us. Before our showdown with the Yankees we a need a #3 and can afford to overpay in prospect capital. Maeda fits perfectly.
  7. We need Berrios in 2020 and 2021. He's replaceable thereafter. Let's not pretend we didn't know this day may come. Extending Buxton at some point in time, is much more important.
  8. Maeda is too good a deal just to walk away from. Keep negotiating. No doubt we have a walk away price just as we did in free agency, but I would keep talking. We can afford an overpay with prospect capital.
  9. The Twins did the right thing. You heard it here first, by the time Berrois is able to walk, our favorite team won't skip a beat.
  10. Several days before the draft, by one account, Jay worked himself to #3. Also, it was hard to find anything that didn't project him as a starter. The right move simply didn't work out.
  11. By fate you mean winning the Central with 101 wins?
  12. I think I made why position perfectly clear, but feel free to spin away.
  13. I can guarantee you they never did. Mookie is 27M and Price is 3 years for 96M. Our benevolent owner is not going to stroke the pen for another 50M or so.
  14. To me, just being a valued member of one of the best run teams in baseball elevates him.
  15. Whatever, it's our 10th solid move this offseason. For those keeping score at home, this is the greatest offseason in the history of our favorite team.
  16. A wise man named Andy MacPhail, once said.....pitching is a numbers game.
  17. My guess is we have to make it work. Maeda is far too good a fit, to let anything get in the way.
  18. When we drafted Duffey he was a college closer, and not rated anywhere near as highly as Enlow coming out of high school. Granted they both have breaking pitches. Excellent move by the FO to go well over slot on him.
  19. This has nothing to do with David Ortiz. This goes back 100 years to Babe Ruth.
  20. Well, we know they are good to great at trade deadlines. Also, lets not pretend we are anywhere near the only team in this position.
  21. Generally, you don't see prospect for prospect trades either. I'm hoping we have some excess starting pitching vets we can deal for low level pitching. Also, the handling of Oderizzi loams large.
