  1. We are actually not competing with the Lovable Losers. They are a large market team which in the not too distant past had a season ticket waiting list of 45,000 and have the third highest priced tickets. I have the utmost respect for King Theo, but then again he started his rebuild way ahead of our favorite team and had a fairly extensive teardown.
  2. The front of the line is Santana, Hughes, and Gibson and all are there due to their ability. My guess is Duffey will be the #5, and the big move this off-season joins this group. Add a can't miss veteran power reliever and a catcher to help control the running game, and our favorite team will be off in pursuit of a ring.
  3. I agree with you, I would be uncomfortable with less than 8. I just don't see anyone after Berrios for at least 2 years. I think TR is going to trade Nolasco and find someone to slot ahead of Santana. I also think it's going to be a difficult off-season for fans of shiny new things. It wouldn't surprise me if we opened up our farm system and dealt Polanco and/or Berrios.
  4. King Theo is much more Ryanlike than Brad Pitt IMHO.
  5. Kohl Stewart was brought in to be a frontline starter, not teach Sunday School.
  6. At this point in time, Arcia, Vargas, and Kepler are nothing more than shiny new things, not unlike your amigo Berrios. The quickest way for our favorite team to regress, is to load up on unproven shiny new things. The multi-year rebuild is officially over, let the shiny new things kick in the door. Our much malinged FO just so happen to have the best seats in the house to determine the right time.
  7. Why would you look at his career numbers when determining where he is today? Next season will be his 3rd full season, not too old to improve.
  8. I agree on Gibson. He's a solid 3, can pitch a playoff game, and I believe has more ceiling to show.
  9. I'm guessing they rehab Meyer as a starter. After Berrios, I don't see a top starting prospect until Stewart and Gonsalves. Any starting pitcher we bring up now, needs to be able to step into a pennant race. I feel we need to stick with Meyer until we absolutely can't, because we do have numbers on our side for power relievers in our farm system.
  10. Blackburn and Baker got hurt, that's part of the game and far from bizarre. Need more info on why Dozier, etc. were bizarre.
  11. Can you provide specific examples? In TR's many years of service to our favorite team, I can not think of anything that even remotely qualifies as being bizarre.
  12. I just saw a picture of Oliveros on a milk carton.
  13. You should listen to the Dazzle Man on the radio. Buxton and Hicks rave about Torii's positive influence.
  14. Well written. Role players and/or placeholders are important components of teams also.
  15. Bring him back. Guys who hit 22 bombs and drive in 74 runs don't grow on trees, and anyone who says he isn't average defensively doesn't watch the games.
  16. I'm hoping once Berrios makes it to Target Field, Meyer becomes next man up.
  17. I agree. Jim Callis referred to him as a frontline starter who has lost some lustre. A high level two sport athlete whose makeup is probably off the charts.
  18. Recap of myths concerning Berrios, for those keeping score at home: 1. Our favorite team should have restricted his innings in June and July. 2. Our favorite team decided before the season even started, Berrios would not make it to The Show this season. 3. Our favorite teams promotion of Duffey to The Show had nothing to do with the handling of Berrios.
  19. The harder you work, the luckier you get. Duffey is a fine example.
  20. You can do this same exercise on every team that has ever played. Why not enjoy the moment, and let sleeping dogs lie?
  21. As Terry Ryan would say, these things have a way of working themselves out.
  22. There is a huge difference between common sense and contorting. That a 21 year-old, while in AA in June, and then promoted to AAA in early July where he did experience some growing pains in his first two starts, should have been on a innings count in said June and July, is beyond silly.
  23. Today on Twins Insider, TR stated Duffey making The Show this season came as a surprise. Some time ago on another episode, he said Duffey is having a better season than Berrios and that's why he was promoted to Target Field. As I have previously posted, he challenged the number crunchers to take a look at the numbers. It follows that Berrios innings were not restricted in June or July because he was behind Duffey and not on the immediate radar. Is this enough to debunk the growing myth, or do you and the guys still feel the need to hold on to it?
  24. They moved May to the bullpen and traded for Jepsen and Cotts.
  25. Meyer crapped the bed early in the season and it quickly turned to dysentery. As I recall he only started looking like he belonged in Rochester the final 2 weeks. Without revising history, tell me how Berrios' innings could have been managed.
