  1. The mere fact that it was actually discussed, puts it's ahead of 90% of the trade posts on this board. Pursing a starting pitcher that would slot in front of Santana, makes a great deal of sense for a team with World Series ambitions, as does eliminating a questionable contract. I also found it refreshing that it wasn't another post about packaging the board scapegoats in hope of receiving something of value.
  2. I think there is a good possibility we see both in the pen at the start of next season. May in the backend, Duffey as long/swing man. I understand the fan board would like to see May, Duffey, and Berrios in the starting rotation, but there are other combinations which are more likely to help us obtain our goal, of getting into the World Series.
  3. You don't rebuild a team in less than 4 years with poor roster management. There is a much bigger picture out there, let me give you a big picture example. I may be missing someone, but I believe only Buxton and Duffey have made it to The Show in TR's 4 drafts. It now appears the 2012 Draft was a strong one, and though it is too early to grade his next 3 drafts, we do know they are topped off with a high pick. The point is, he has taken our favorite team from multi-year rebuilt to in the hunt without the benefit of the traditional source of improvement for mid-market teams, the draft. The best is yet to come.
  4. Win or lose, nothing could possibly be more beneficial than to have our favorite team playing meaningful games this time of the season. Evaluations of our current players, and even our new manager, are much more valid while in the hunt.
  5. I agree, our favorite team is positioned perfectly.
  6. I believe the starting rotation will be TBD, Santana, Hughes, Gibson, Nolasco/Milone with Duffey and May in the pen and Berrios first man up. I'm hopeful Meyer has a Hickslike rehab and gets into the mix no later than the trade deadline. I have no doubt TR will go for the jugular next season. The info provided by our very own Jeremy that our favorite team was pursing a front of the rotation upgrade was good news, as was the knowledge they would try to eliminate a large question mark by moving Nolasco.
  7. Our top 3 trade chips are Plouffe, Hicks, and May, and I would not trade Plouffe until we are convinced Sano is not a 25-30 errors per season machine. We are postioned almost perfectly. We have gold, vets to trade, and prospects to trade. I would look to slot someone in front of Santana at the front of the rotation. Yesterday TR made it sound like a catcher to slow down the running game would be a priority. Many ways we can go.
  8. Now they are.
  9. At this point in time, our favorite team has little margin for error offensively. Once Buxton becomes a terror, which I'm still holding out hope will happen yet this year, we gain a fair amount of breathing room.
  10. I think you're confusing Joe Mauer with Richard Simmons. You do know he was recruited by Division I programs in three sports out of high school?
  11. Immeasurables are so important. Our favorite team does not have a country club atmosphere. It's obviously a disco.
  12. Every 13 years or so, it does appear The Twins Way let's us down.
  13. The future's so bright I have to wear shades.
  14. If I'm not mistaken we considered Storen in the Rule 4 draft also. I believe Duffey and Pressly will strengthen the pen next year, with Graham first man up. For lefties, I like Cotts resume. I don't think we will spent big, because our farm system should start spewing out power arms left and right at some point next season.
  15. 2002 seems like just yesterday.
  16. Only the Twins are in position to measure leadership and team chemistry.
  17. I've been working off post #3 which includes Kohl Stewart. Arcia as 4th piece is interchangeable.
  18. Berrios, Duffey, and to some degree May, are still pie in the sky as starters. May and Duffey will go a long ways towards solidifying the pen with Berrios as first man up. With Shields, Santana, Hughes, Gibson, and Milone in the rotation, Hedges in the mix at catcher, I would move all the chips to the center of the table.
  19. Mike, for the second time Shields is a 2/3. We are in the win now mode. It's nice to see you finally embraced the rebuild, but you're late to the dance.
  20. The Padres were in a win now mode. It didn't work, and after less than a year they are shifting gears. So the tear down begins. They don't practice The Twins Way and are taking more of a fan board friendly approach, which is panic at the first sign of adversity.
  21. I like this deal. Nolasco is not sunk costs, but at this time is damaged goods. If he comes back healthy as a 4/5 he is still worth 6-8 million per year. I like Shields as a 2/3 we can move in front of a very underestimated Santana. Good post!
  22. Molly said Sano will play little or no 3B the rest of the season after the game. Earliest we would know if Sano can play 3B at the major league level is right around the trade deadline. Trading Sano before we find out if he is at least an average 3B risks taking a step backwards, which I can't see Ryan doing. As trade chips, Hicks and May are probably edging towards their peak value.
