  1. Just think, board scapegoat Gibson, is practically an All-Star compared to Berrios in 2016.
  2. But the Twins don't have a losing culture. One of the laws of baseball is, every mid-market team will need to rebuild at some point in time.
  3. Gibson will be pitching in The Show for at least the next 2 or 3 years. He has value unlike board favorites Pinto and Arcia. If the search committee had chosen me, I would have Gibson and Gonsalves compete for the 5 spot in ST next year and trade Gibson if he doesn't come out on top.
  4. Castro was a very good pickup and the 2017 draft was similar to what the Astros did in 2012. We've been in the hunt 2 of the past 3 years, and for all intents and purposes, the rebuild will end with this season. The glass isn't half full, it's running over.
  5. No question we need to pick up a 2/3 starting pitcher this off season. If so, I believe we can go 10 deep with starters who will be acceptable to most on the board. For all intents and purposes, the rebuild will end with this season. The core of 4, plus Rosario and Polanco with be in year 3, and Gonsalves, Romero, Jorge, Slegers, and Stewart are well positioned to start as needed. I would bring back Belisle, and let our cast of thousands fight it out in the pen. We should have option 1, how we use the pen with a lead, set early in the season. Option 2, how we use the pen when we are behind, will be a work in progress, probably till the trade deadline next season. Good time to be a Twin's fan!
  6. We have quietly put together a very good bench. We are going to need this group in the World Series next season. Dozier replaces Joe in 2019 at 1B, ala Rod Carew.
  7. I'll factor it in. His after draft physical showed he was injured so they offered less money. If I'm not mistaken they got that pick back the next draft. We drafted Gibson knowing he was injured and that worked out okay. I'm not positive, but I believe Bard was drafted injured also.
  8. Sano was not a done deal at 3B going into ST. Polanco was not a done deal at SS going into ST. Buxton was not a done deal at CF going into ST and I was fairly certain after 30-45 days in, he was headed to Rochester. Berrios started at Rochester. I would guess the new regime couldn't possibly be happier with the talent TR accumulated. Let's not forget, we were the 2nd youngest team in baseball, weighted by playing time. Also, I would be surprised if at least one of the national experts, doesn't rate our farm system in the top 10.
  9. No you don't. That's called chasing your tail.
  10. No. I hope they bring him back next season. Our problems are not being caused by our catchers.
  11. If they pitch like Belisle has in the past 2 months, it's a great move.
  12. Joe has carried us in the past, I think there is a good chance he will again.
  13. The previous regime's guys are at Target Field.
  14. Much ado about nothing. They traded what one member called a pig with lipstick to the Yankees for 2 pitching prospects. In the other 2 trades, they moved 2 board scapegoats for 2 additional pitching prospects. We net 4 total pitching prospects, 3 of which are lefties, which is signficant, and are still in the hunt. The big news is we didn't have to move the Romero, Jorge, Gonsalves, Stewart, or Thorpe-types.
  15. I've never heard of an organization owned by billionaires refered to as a mom and pop shop.
  16. Did you happen to read the thread once the 25 man roster was announced? I certainly didn't read much or anything on this board, that in any way hinted we were obviously ready for a step forward.
  17. I have never heard the Twins say anything positive about Garver. I believe he will get a cup of coffee come September, but if I'm not mistaken, they view him as another Pinto, and will not trust him with our young pitchers.
  18. Yes they have. Did you get a chance to review the 2017 draft? Not unlike the Astros draft of 2012.
  19. Falvey used the first half season to evaluate what we have, yet we are in the hunt for the second time in three seasons. We have all kinds of arms from our 2012, 2013, and 2014 drafts just about major league ready. Great job by the new regime.
  20. The schedule is favorable the rest of the way. A win against a bad team, counts the same as a win against a good team. They could finish the season with a run, just like the Royals did in 2014. All the talk back then was the Royals were going to clean house, but then they got hot. The rest is history.
