  1. Baseball is a game of inches. Page after page of moves our favorite team needed to make, then our winning the Central is cemented by an injury to Jose Ramirez.
  2. I expect he will be used in enough low leverage situations, to be ready to make the staff next season out of ST.
  3. What was the asking price for Minor? It makes little sense to be unhappy we didn't trade for a player when we have no idea what the asking price was. No way I would have dangled Buxton, Lewis or Kirilloff in any trade. Don't fall for the Pale Hose hype. Reinsdorf is even worse than the Pohlads. Having talented prospects is one thing, actually winning is another. I wouldn't think I would have to explain that on this board of all places.
  4. No and No. I've mentioned it before, Nick Anderson and I pitched in the same college conference, not even 40 years apart.
  5. Anyone who has ever swung a bat, knows when the headliner in a trade is 19 years-old, it makes no sense to judge the deal in little over a year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe sometime ago you mentioned you did not consider Alcala or Celestino to be prospects. Be sure you're sitting down when the guys publish their prospects list this winter. The One Play-Off Pressly trade will go down as one of the best in franchise history.
  6. Sound strategy to see what you have internally, before wasting money on the overpriced free agency market for relievers. You can clearly see this by looking at the highest priced free agency relievers the past 2 off seasons. At the trade deadline you can pick up relievers having good seasons, which is what we did.
  7. The Pressly trade will go down as one of the best in franchise history. At some at point in time, pitching becomes a numbers game. Alcala is the type of power reliever every team in baseball is looking for. In a few years, we will see Celestino first as a 4th outfielder. If Buxton walks at free agency, he is the heir apparent. When you have foresight, you don't need hindsight.
  8. If Graterol comes up to see the Big City and to meet his future teammates, I have no problem with that. I can see giving him throw away innings. Anything more than that, we have others more ready to perform in a playoff situation.
  9. Dyson and Romo, plus player "X" from our farm system, stabilize the pen and we win the Central going away.
  10. Most players career numbers show they are nothing special. Garver will be our starting catcher next season and is nothing special defensively. Don't muddy the waters by playing him at first. Cron was one of our better pickups this off season. The FO astutely picked him up in a salary dump.
  11. I didn't see it coming. It's nice to hear a member express confidence in Dyson. Our friends at Twinkie Town gave that acquisition an A-.
  12. Actually he was highly desired. Take a look at Twinkie Town for a more balanced view.
  13. May turns 30 shortly. He's the 2nd most senior Twin. Time to cut bait.
  14. Bumgarner is a 2 month rental. If we take on his entire salary, I don't believe we would need to include those 3. That move could cement the Central.
  15. One example tells you nothing. I'm glad you are no longer espousing we need 2 starters better than Berrios, as if they grew on trees.
  16. Taking pitching with high picks is always hazardous. The mighty Astros missed on 1-1 picks two years in a row. King Theo only takes college position players in the first round and gets pitchers via trade or free agency(until his checkbook was taken away).
  17. When the season started, I thought the weakness of our farm system was starting pitching below Rochester. Except for Thorpe, everyone at AAA has been so-so. I take the strong start at AA etc. as a very good sign. I'm guessing we see several of these prospects sometime next season.
  18. So you wouldn't trade Addison Reed, Castro, and Pineda? We are already contending. Believe it or not you can do both.
  19. That's hardly the only reason. I believe we our the 4th team that feels Morin can pitch in The Show. No team has ever expressed any interest in Reed.
