  1. I think he's could be too far left to win the general. That doesn't mean he can't beat Trump, but he will have the hardest time, IMO. He will be attacked as Socialist/Communist the whole cycle. Yes, they will attack whoever the nominee is with that, but it will stick better with him. He's also too old and hasn't released his taxes which negates two of Trump's biggest issues. I'm also not sure about his foreign policy experience, but that's true of almost everyone.
  2. He's a good defensive catcher who can't hit. Astudillo appears to be an average or slightly below average defensive catcher who can hit. I'll take the later. I'd be happy with a 60/40 split between the two. Garver's future is as a reserve 1B/RF IMO.
  3. I think the "creepy Joe" stuff will keep Biden out. Frankly, he's already run twice and lost and he'll be 80 in office and he has a lot of skeletons, even if they're minor compared to Trump. There are better options. At the moment, my preference is Amy or Pete. But really anyone but Bernie will do.
  4. It's not so much how great he is. It's how bad Castro is. And the fact that Bobby Wilson was playing ahead of his is a crime against baseball.
  5. Personally, I only keep Facebook as a means of contacting people I would otherwise lose touch with, but rarely look at it. Twitter is fun because you can follow folks from many different sports/interests and have it in one feed. But the block button is definitely your friend.
  6. Twitter is no better or worse than any other social media. I don't know what the issue was, but any athlete who's reading his mentions is doing it wrong, IMO.
  7. Can someone explain the logic of why Castro starts over Astudillo? You can't frame enough pitches to make up .100 points in batting average. Every time I watch him catch I figure I'll see passed balls galore and a mess back there and he's always fine.
  8. Strange not to PH for Kepler. Also, I know it's not typically done, but since we have 3 catchers, maybe put Castro in for the 9th given that Garver had just batted and Parker throws a splitter?
  9. Who?
  10. Eew. I was about to mock y'all for over-reacting to a minor-league deal.
  11. Fire Spielman. Give Zim one year with a a new GM.
  12. You have to kick this.
  13. 3rd and 1. Hey lets run it right up the gut
  14. This O line is single-handedly dooming this team. Anyone could have seen it in March. And running it right up the gut with the RB has worked on 3rd/4th and one zero times in the last 4-5 games. But let's keep doing it.
  15. Exactly. We have no idea what will get from Pineda and I don't trust Odorizzi. You need 7 starters to get through a season and we have 4 maybe. They should 100% be signing at least one starter, a couple relievers and an OF'er (Adam Jones is my preference.) You could do all of the above, and still have a payroll $30 million less than 2018.
  16. I'll believe it when I see it with SD. The problem is the Dems have no pool of candidates to draw from. The 2018 Gov race was as good a chance as they could have and they still came up short. I suppose if Sutton (the Dem Gov candidate) runs for Rounds Senate seat, he would have a fighting chance, but it would still be very tough.
  17. Cutting $50 million off the payroll when the division is right there for the taking is shameful.
  18. I disagree about the winner-take-all being a disadvantage for the Dems in the EC. The GOP in some states proposed dividing their EC votes by Congressional District like Maine and Nebraska do because it would help them. Yes the Dems would pick up some EC votes in Texas and Georgia. But they would lose them in almost every blue state.NY, CA, MN, VA, etc. and purple states they can easily flip back like PA and MI. There are plenty of small completely red states where the Dems would net nothing from this change. There are very few completely blue states where the R's wouldn't pick up some. (HI and a handful of New England states).
  19. The Dems probably have no questionable seats. Virginia is completely safe. VA is bluer than MN now. No Republican has won a state-wide race in VA since 2009, and he got indicted. AL on the other hand is going to flip back. That the Dems held it for 2 years was a perfect storm and there's almost no chance they can hold it. Nothing against Doug Jones. CO is the only relatively likely Dem flip. ME, NC and IA are possible, but I don't like their odds of getting to 4.
  20. I'm not sure about blue, but some purple states have gone red. Missouri voted for every Presidential winner from the 50's through 2004. In 2008 Obama lost it by less than 1%. It is now deep red. It feels like Ohio is headed down a similar path, and perhaps Iowa as well. I think WI, MI and PA were more 2016 flukes (with some outside funny business). But in general the B1G/Rust Belt is turning red and the ACC/Sun Belt (VA, NC, GA) is turning blue.
  21. Seriously? I can't imagine him not getting a ML deal. A multi-year deal may not happen for him though.
  22. What are the options for 2B? We can't bank on Gordon and we need someone for 3B when Sano hurts himself or get demoted. Will Dozier take a 1-2 year deal? If Escobar is only worth $7 million, he's not getting much more than that.
  23. Seriously? Give me a break. The Twins should have done more to sign him to an extension, but Target Field not having a roof had nothing to do with it.
  24. It would be ironic if we got older twice in a row. Gardy will start looking like a young, fresh face.
