  1. Got a run. Made Paxton throw 22 pitches. Not bad. That said, Rosario...sigh.
  2. Rosario ends that whole "don't swing at everything" experiment.
  3. I think it was amazement that it went out.
  4. Yankees only down to -155 in live betting....
  5. Hopefully Falvey found his Cory Kluber.
  6. This thread makes me feel old. All those things just happened!
  7. I wouldn't do that for a reliever. And isn't his injury the type that is very hard to recover from?
  8. Congrats Twins on a fun season! Bring on the Yankees. Play with house money.
  9. Who else took the Lord's name in vain when they brought Gibson in?
  10. 1. Morris. End of discussion. 2. Cruz 3. Chili 4. Molitor
  11. A few Rocco beefs: -What is it going to take to get Eddie "weak foul to 3rd" Rosario out of the clean-up spot? -How do you not PH Cron for Castro in the bottom of the 5th. You have a chance to put the game out of reach and Castro's hitting .100 over the last month. You had already inserted Astudillo to play 1st, he can just move to catcher. No-brainer. -Hildenberger, Gibson and Stewart cannot pitch for this team again in 2019.
  12. I acknowledge there are different levels of must win games. Obviously this is not the highest level. But we've been on "we got this" mode since Saturday. If we lose tonight and Cleveland wins, we've basically given back everything we gained on Saturday and are back to nervous scoreboard watching and hanging on for dear life.
  13. This feels like a must win game. Cleveland will beat Detroit (again.) If we let them pick up another game, all bets are off.
  14. No way. $8 million is what we paid him on his current contract to be the starter. The gap between him and Astudillo isn't big. And Astudillo will work for minimum salary. That $8 million is best used elsewhere. Stash a "Magic Fingers" Bobby Wilson type in AAA to be safe. (But not actual Bobby Wilson please.)
  15. I don't think it was the case tonight, but we should have gone for the boot on the throat on Sunday and we didn't. Now it will probably take us until the final week-end to clinch. I see Cleveland losing 2 more games at most.
  16. I've wondered this too. Against Houston, it probably doesn't matter as they have 3 aces. But against the Yankees, do you throw Smeltzer out there in game 1, hope for a miracle and know that you now have the advantage in games 2 and 3? This almost worked unintentionally for the Twins in 2009 as they had to start Duensing in game 1 due to game 163. Unfortunately, Nathan blew the save in game 2 and Phil Cuzzi game through for the Yankees in the 10th.
  17. I agree with this, except insert Cron for Cave and move Gonzalez to RF. If staying with this 9, I'd swap Rosario and Garver to avoid having back-to-back lefies.
  18. Need to win tonight. The pitching match-up tomorrow is not favorable. Indians will likely win their next 3 at least. The division race is not over.
  19. I agree. I'm fine with the youngsters filling one spot, but not 2-3. The Twins rotation next year IMO is: 1. Berrios 2. TBD 3. TBD 4. TBD 5. Smeltzer/Thorpe/Dobnak/Graterol I would trade one of Rosario/Sano/Buxton for a starter and probably bring back Pineda as the #4. They will still need at least one FA to fill the #3 spot. Could be Odorizzi, could be someone else. The only way I want Gibson back, is if it's one a cheap one-year make good deal. I would decline the option on Perez. He's not worth $7.5 million.
