  1. If that were true they could have done it in 2025. Or 2024. Or 2023. Nothing was stopping them.
  2. There's plenty of blame for the Pohlad's and Falvey, but Rocco still had the highest payroll in the division and bombed.
  3. Of course Falvey should go too, but he won't. So this was the bare minimum that needed to happen. I hope the new hire will be from outside the organization and given the freedom to skip the 2 PM spreadsheet meeting when he sees fit.
  4. They aren't free agents. What are they going to do? Refuse to report to Spring Training?
  5. Why? He's employed by the Twins. They've always employed the on-air talent. That won't change just because ESPN distributes the games.
  6. I don't know the exact impact of the minority owners. I do know that they had a $140 million opening day payroll for 2025 and there's no good reason they can't have a similar $140 million opening day payroll for 2026. They certainly don't need to cut down to $50-60 million.
  7. I don't understand this logic that they're going to trade Buxton/Pablo/Ryan? And do what? Have a $50 million payroll?
  8. -Introduce the new minority owners (hopefully at least one is someone people know). -Say that after consultation with them, you have decided big changes are needed. -Fire Derek Falvey and Rocco Baldelli the day after the season ends. -Hire a new team President and a new General Manager (who will then hire a new manager) -Vow to never let Joe Pohlad speak in public again. -Authorize a payroll of $140-$145 million for 2026 and make it clear you intend to compete for the Division.
  9. Put Zebby and Festa in the bullpen for the rest of the season.
  10. Rocco Rocco'd this game and there is zero excuses or someone like Cabrera to be on this roster. He will not be in MLB in 2026.
  11. Flashing yellow, which no one understands and crashes into each other.
  12. If the Twins continue to let Falvey run things and do so with a $100 million payroll there is no reason for any fan to have any interest or hope in 2026.
  13. The Pohlad's give Derek a budget. And I'm sure he'd like it to be higher. But they don't meddle beyond that. So he owns pretty much everything else about the current team. His fellow GM's with even less $$ in Tampa, Cleveland, KC, Milwaukee etc. are all lapping him in success. He deserves to be fired.
  14. If they did, they would sign a deal to distribute it exclusively through Barns and Noble in print. No e-version. Not available on Amazon. Then they would be puzzled by the lack of sales.
  15. All they had to do was shut the F up. If they had just "tried and tried" to re-sign Sonny Gray and he went to St. Louis, the payroll would have gone down to the $130 million it was. Announcing it in advance the way Joe Pohlad did is one of stupidest self-inflicted PR things I've ever seen. Perhaps only topped by his grandpa Carl's announcement that he was "giving" 49% of the team to the State for a stadium back in the 90's when he was really selling it. And making the announcement yesterday instead of waiting until the new minority partners could be revealed is similarly dumb. People would still be upset, but if there were actual names, faces and some sense of what will change it would be easier to take.
  16. No. It isn't. Stop it. This article is the definition of click-bait. You guys are better than this.
  17. You want to see 300 AB's of literally the worst hitter in baseball?
  18. I don't understand why they can't disclose that. Who cares if MLB hasn't approved them yet.
  19. Not in and of itself. But let's just say the Pohlad's are still willing to spend $140 million next year. A new GM spending that $$ million and signing say a new closer and a new 1B is going to give fans a lot more hope than Falvey doing it. And we're all tired of Rocco's stagnant station to station baseball.
  20. The opposite of love is indifference. The outrage over the fire sale shows that fans still care. But the Pohlad's are now driving us toward indifference. Once that happens it's very hard to get them back. I disagree that changing leadership doesn't qualify as a demonstrative action. As much as we hate the Pohlads, the Twins still had the highest payroll in the division the last couple years. They didn't fail because of $$. They failed because Derek Falvey is a bad GM. He deserves to be fired. And Rocco with him.
  21. They will eventually be forced to sell if they average 10K and under the next year or two. I'm certainly not giving them any $$.
  22. MLB negotiated for all the teams it's doing production for, so it's probably not a complete collapse from what they paid Bally's. But I'm guessing they went from $54 million in 2023 to $44 million in 2024, so around $30 million in local TV this year. If it wasn't a multi-year deal, they might get another haircut next year. My suspicion on the long-term is that the Yankees/Dodgers/Red Sox/Cubs will balk at the Amazon proposal and it will significantly hurt the $$ the other 26 clubs can get, even if they eventually go that route. I have no faith in Manfred to strong-arm them into it.
