  1. Even though Falvey will bring another analytics robot, Rocco needs to go. He's totally lost the team. As bad as the bullpen is, the offense is worse. Painful to watch. It's hard to even want them to limp into the play-offs. This season just needs to come to a merciful end. The wish list for this team is new owners, a new GM and new manager. But I'll take two out of 3 and be OK with one out of 3.
  2. This is on ownership but also on Falvey. His inaction at the trade deadline was inexcusable and it was not about $$. It was about refusing to part with prospects.
  3. If they actually want to cut payroll, they will have to trade Lopez.
  4. I don't believe managers generally make a huge difference in season win totals, but Gardy in his prime would have this team getting ready to clinch a play-off spot already.
  5. Technically we have the tiebreaker so we're still the # WC. Until tomorrow's loss.
  6. That shouldn't matter. No one manages/coaches out the last year of their contract.
  7. Fire Falvey. Fire Rocco. Sell to Mark Cuban. I'll settle for 2 out of 3.
  8. Thielbar in. Rocco concedes. Falvey conceded in July. All should be gone 10/1.
  9. Another game where we have led or tied most of the game but it feels like we have zero chance to win.
  10. The bullpen is on Falvey not ownership. Lack of balls to trade actual prospects for help is what led to this. Not $$.
  11. Not really. It's not unreasonable that at least one of Detroit or Seattle will go say 8-4. That would mean all the Twins have to do is go 6-6 or worse.
  12. Given the payroll restraints, no. He will cost $8-10 million and likely decline in performance. His defense has been even better than expected though.
  13. The national media doesn't give a $%% whether the Twins make the play-offs or not. No one outside of Minnesota and the fans of the teams chasing them care.
  14. I almost don't want them to make the play-offs. They don't deserve it, likely won't win a game, and this organization deserves to lie in the bed it made and take a hard look at itself.
  15. If there's such a thing as a must win game when up by 3 games, this is it. If they lose this one, stick a fork in them, they're done.
  16. It's not realistic to expect an owner in a medium/small market to lose tens of millions every year. But is realistic to expect them to do it once in a while when they are in a winning window. The Pohlads never, ever do that. And their GM will never challenge them on it. Nor will he trade prospects to make up for it. So they will never have any real chance to get to, let alone win a World Series with this ownership/front office. The Pohlads selling would be a blessing but it's not likely to happen.
  17. They will now have missed the play-offs three times in four years in a weak division. Two of the years a play-off spot was sitting there on a platter and they completely collapsed. It's as much on Falvey as it is on Rocco. I think they should both go, but it should certainly be a discussion at this point.
  18. Some analytics are needed. But the Twins require a GM who knows when to go for it and when to pull back and how to get ownership on board with that. Falvey is good at drafting but bad at free agency and trades. But most of all he is way too timid to go for it when they are in a winning window. 2019 showed us that and nothing since has changed it.
  19. I would put their play-off odds at no better than 50/50. Only one of Seattle/Boston/Detroit has to get hot. The Twins won't win more than 85 games.
  20. Fire Rocco and his spreadsheet overlords.
  21. After his "resurgence" Christian Vazquez is now 3 for his last 32. Perhaps we can stop worrying about "saving" Jeffers and actually let him catch two games in a row?
  22. Yes. But only if Falvey goes too. Otherwise the new Rocco will be the same as the old Rocco. Managing by the spreadsheet that was given to him by the computer geeks 5 hours before the game.
