  1. None. But what if we finish 86-76 and win the division by two games? I just don't see the logic of getting upset by signing a couple of low salary veterans which they always intended to do. The success or failure of this team hinges on Buxton, Correa, Lewis and the starting pitching. This gives them more depth. Guys like Miranda, Kiersey and Martin will all get plenty of chances.
  2. Who said Bader is a starter? He's not, as long as Buxton is healthy. He's the 4th OF'er. Larnach will DH some but we know Castro will move around and not be the every day LF'er.
  3. Unless they turn around and trade Willi Castro to offset it or something it doesn't matter. There's no salary cap and whether he makes $8 million $2 million matters little.
  4. This team has no set DH. Miranda will have plenty of AB's available if he hits well.
  5. He's a fringe roster player because he hasn't sustained his hitting for any long periods of time and he has no natural position. 3B is probably his best position but he's blocked there. He's definitely not a strong defensive 1B (but no neither is France.)
  6. Fine but that's a different discussion. The OP said he was fine with Falvey "until the last week" and is now "done". That makes no sense as there's really nothing subtantive Falvey could have done in the last week and these signings are all fairly mundane minor moves. Getting upset about them seems ridiculous. I personally would love both Falvey and Rocco gone after the season. But given the sale of the team, they were never going anywhere this off-season nor were the Twins going to go out and spend $50 million in free agency.
  7. Miranda and Kiersey are themselves fringe roster players at this point. Miranda was probably never going to be the every day 1B. E-Rod was never going to be on the team to sit on the bench. If there's an injury to Wallenr or Larnach he'll be up.
  8. If Miranda hits anywhere close to how he did the middle part of 2024, he should play almost daily and France will become a twice a week bench player. If Miranda hits how he did the last two months, he's probably worse than France.
  9. We signed a whopping two position player free agents and you're upset about prospects getting blocked? I don't really care if Julien or Gasper make the team. Julien probably needs to rebuild his value in St. Paul anyway and Gasper is a nothing ML veteran.
  10. If France is terrible and plays too much, even while Miranda plays well, that's mostly on Rocco. I don't think they were ever going to role with Miranda and Julien as the only 1B options. So if it wasn't Ty France it was going to be some other cheap veteran.
  11. I assume Miranda will still be on the team and play against all LH starters. Either at 1B, 3B or DH. Julien is the one out in this scenario unless he wins the 2B job over Brooks Lee.
  12. These are the fringe players of the roster. They had obvious needs for a LH reliever, 1B and back-up OF'er. They filled them. All three are "meh" signings but none of them are robbing roster spots from anyone meaningful.
  13. I'm no fan of Falvey, but this being the straw that broke the camel's back seems odd. What could he have done differently only in the last week that would make you feel better?
  14. I most look forward to the games where Bader pinch-hits for Wallner in the 2nd inning because the other team used a RH opener and then brought in a lefty.
  15. Glen is 84 and in ailing health. I seriously doubt he makes a serious bid. He only tried to keep the Wolves because the value has exploded since he signed that deal.
  16. Manny Margot's days as a Twin may not be over with that kind of dough to throw around...
  17. Good. He'll have size envy and be driven to get the Twins a title before the Suns do...
  18. Given the $130 m budget, I'd decline arbitration on both Castro and Topa and figure on eating half of Paddock and Vazquez's contracts in order to dump them. That nets to about $13 million to spend. Enough for a cheap 1B option ($6 m) a lefty reliever ($3 m) and a cheap 5th starter ($4 m)
  19. If they were still stuck in the Metrodome, sure. One thing the Pohlads have done is keep Target Field first class. MLB is not letting a team in a good stadium leave the #15 market for some market in the 30's or below, even if TB/A's are fully resolved.
  20. Judge Crump got a bobblehead but deserves a small statue at Target Field.
  21. Any contract can be broken, but there would be massive penalties, the stadium is still in great shape, MSP is still a top 20 market and the team still draws decently. They're not moving. The new owners aren't going to magically pump the payroll to $200 million and lose $60 million/year. But I don't think anyone's expecting that. Just be engaged, try to win when you're in a window and act like you give a $%^ about being competitive.
  22. Allegedly, the Twins were ready/willing to do this last year, but MLB was not ready to do production for so many teams and told them to take the Bally's $$ for one more year.
  23. I'm assuming that the channel they would sell Sunday games to would already be available on most cable/satellite packages (Chanel 45, 29 etc.). Also, they would still be able to stream/offer the games on the designated cable/satellite channel for the markets outside of MSP (Sioux Falls, Fargo, Duluth) etc. This is the same as it was years ago. I don't see having one game/week OTA impacting the # of subscriptions they sell or having a big impact on how much DirecTV/Comcast etc. would pay them for the streaming channel.
  24. They 100% need to do this. Their Sunday games on Channel 29 back 2000-2010 used to put up some big #'s. And it won't effect the # who sign up for streaming much if at all.
  25. Dish as a standalone, unlikely. DirecTV will likely have it as a "channel" right next to where BSN already is. If the DirecTV/Dish merger is completed by next season (unlikely) then maybe.
