  1. Chicken-ery! From the Mlb site:SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS Buxton recorded his fifth career three-hit game, and four of those have come against the White Sox. Haw haw haw...!
  2. Death, taxes, and beatin' the hell out of the white sox. Should be regular things. At least one of those things are enjoyable...
  3. Wow, just checked in to find Mr. Adrianza making an impact. If this keeps up, I can't wait to watch the replay on the Sox broadcast later. Is Hawk still doing games? I'm sure the silence would be deafening... You can put that on the board. Yes.
  4. Ahhh, Chicago memories... Sept. 1, 1997. Living in Chi, about 4 blocks from Wrigley. My late pal Moose (the guy who got me started playing rugby) and lovely wife came down from St Paul for the series, the first year of interleague play. A great, great, time-- 2nd photo- Sammy Sosa at bat, Terry Steinbach behind the plate. Sammy hit a tater that day, but Mighty Pat Meares had a 3 run bomb, and the Twinkies took 'em, 7-6. Oh, wait, we're playing that other team....
  5. From the album: 2017

  6. Oh, my goodness. I think what we got here is a new fart metaphor.... I'm gonna try it out the next time my nose crinkles in a car full of folks.
  7. All the dang math in this thread so far. $@*%! I just wanna see the boys jump all over Sale's a$$. Show him it doesn't matter what color Sox he has on, we're gonna eat him alive just the same. I wanna see him cry Gibson-esque tears out on that mound today. Get 'im, boys.
  8. I made this point in another thread, but it seems apropos for this one, too. I like the moves the past week or so here from the FO side. They did give a few guys one good last MLB shot to see what they truly had in them, and the proof was borne out. DSan and Tonk are not bad guys, have a good amount of talent between them, but they didn't harness and use it to benefit the club well enough. I hope they'll do better with a change of scenery. It looks like those guys are only the first of the place-holders to make their exit. The way to get a good starter here is going to have to be free agency. And the way to attract someone decent is show them a decent chance to win- a young, solid offensive and defensive corps, quality arms for back-end support in the BP- we may have them already, but timing and injuries have taken a toll. It's like using the whole team as a showcase for picking up a quality starter- or even 2 over the winter. Everybody wants a good payday, but every single dang guy out there wants to win more than anything. Gotta give 'em a reason to want to make that happen here. I've got no illusions about contending this year- there are just too many question marks, and too many holes that a rental starter wouldn't begin to address. I'm all for using this season as one long audition for the young talent to show their stuff, and learn some MLB lessons. I suffered through 198-by God-2, but I was happy to see what we had in the kids who came up- Hrbek, Gaetti, Bruno, Laudner, Frankie V and others. They took some big lumps, but they turned into solid core for long-term contention. We've got a lot of similar pieces, but they've gotta get up, and Molly's gotta play 'em.
  9. So, it's nearly 5AM here, why I'm awake rt now is anybody's guess. Maybe it was the excitement of the beginning of the Tepesch Era... Oops- maybe not.
  10. Brandon... Sheesh....... Just a whole universe of suck.
  11. It's been a mini-Greek tragedy, watching how concussions have robbed a couple of key Twins of many productive years. Joe (and Justin) were such formidable keystones for a good while, and barring those freak injuries, should have been for several more years. But I have to concur with the above posts-- my gosh, how long have these defenses been adjusting to the oppo-outfield and roll-over infield patterns, and why in the heck hasn't the one hitter with the best batting eye I've ever seen been able to adjust to that, even minimally? But here's the kicker in the whole mix-- Molly's lineups-by-reputation. A guy who's having the worst month of his entire career, entrenched in the cleanup spot. (And Castro a couple slots behind.) Now, that is one of the biggest of Molly's many head-scratching moves. Cripe, let him work out his stuff in the 7 spot. Get Vargas backing up Sano, or throw Grossman in there sometimes. Instead, our Mgr has maybe the two most intensely-slumping hitters in the 4 and 6 holes. Fer cryin'......
  12. Man, the sounds of those A's bats on Gibby's pitches-- He gets squared up more than anyone, ever.
  13. OK, being +50, sometimes get beckoned by nature during the night- which prompted me to check the score- even knowing Gibby was on the mound. I'm going to cry myself back to sleep now. Gibby.... sheesh.....
  14. I think they opened for Strawberry Alarm Clock at the Met back in the summer of '68...
  15. All I know is, having Kintzler as Kloser is running up my laundry bills, having to change trousers 2-3 times whenever the 9th inning rolls around with a lead...
  16. and maybe, just maybe, one of 'em can knock Castro out of the 6-hole, and maybe Joe out of the cleanup spot....
  17. They need to get those young hitters going, then add a couple of those young BP fireballers. Vargas needs to be in the lineup, and Park/Palka need to get up here, too. Shaggy and Burdi, or whoever shines down on the farm back there in the pen as well. Show some solid offensive support, and a back end BP to attract a FA stud pitcher to come to Minny. Next year's market already looks a lot better than last years by a longshot. "Pitcher's" park, with fleet-footed outfielders, and young guys who can rock the baseball-- now that's a recipe for getting a quality #1 or 2 to come to the Twinks. Oh, and maybe a new Mgr who puts less-than-out-of-a-hat lineups together..... but that's just MHO.
  18. That could be the new tag line for pretty much any game finished by Mr. K...
  19. Whew--- I had to go teach classes in the top of 7- Came back to see the end of that cluster----. K-k-k-k-k-intzler as the K-k-k-k-k-k-loser has never inspired much K-k-k-k-k-onfidence in me. I feel like I got a virtual roller coaster ride. And what's this stuff on my shirt?
  20. I just get the feeling that Bert has a jar of worn-out old baseball cliches, that he just keeps picking from and reading. I swear to Gawd, "good piece of hitting...." Bang, zoom, Alice!
  21. Shoot. I could do that. Well, if I took the direct route....
