    Absolutely. Billionaires can own all of the helicopters, cool cars, and private islands they want. Only 30 billionaires can own an MLB team, 32 for NFL, etc. etc. Once you're in that small club, why on earth would you decide to leave?

    Unless an owner is in need of a quick influx of cash, and we're talking about billionaires here - they don't, why would any owner sell their team? Jim Pohlad and Mark Cuban's personalities couldn't be further a part, but Cuban was recently on Bill Simmons' new show, who said he wouldn't sell his team for any monetary offer. His reasoning: What do I need $3 Billion for? Cuban probably has his family set up for the next 5 generations, and I assume the Pohlad's do too. Owning a team is a pride thing, and though the Pohlad's aren't in the front page of the papers like Cuban is, I'd be willing to bet they enjoy owning a team.

    My assumption is the complete opposite. That TR was not going to go full bore and the Pohlad's do. Unfortunately we probably won't know what truly is the case. I'm in agreement that Antony does not keep the job, and plenty more will come out in the upcoming press conferences, interviews, etc.

    I would be surprised if Antony IS named full-time GM at the end of the season. Much like the Minnesota Wild when they fired their coach, someone internal had to take over for the interim. I don't believe there's much of anything Antony can do to remove the interim label after this season. This has the making of a complete tear down in the organization. Something most of us would welcome.

    A step in the right direction. Like Mike and others said in the thread before this, the timing of this has to correlate with the strategy at the trade deadline. My assumption is the Pohlad's want to sell, and TR wanted to stand pat. Time will tell which side of the argument the Pohlad's are on.

    I'd love to make Suzuki to the Indians a reality. Someone in the 6-15 range in their prospect org chart will work for me. Perhaps RHP Triston McKenzie? DOB: 08/02/1997 Height/Weight: 6’5” 160 lbs. Future Tools: 55 fastball, 55 curve, 55 change Role: 50—No. 4 starter/high-leverage reliever When we say McKenzie offers projection, we mean projection. He’s wafer-thin (Mr. Creosote would be tempted), and it is an open question whether his frame will fill out with enough good weight that he can hold up as a starter. Despite the durability concerns, sources called McKenzie one of the most impressive pitchers in the AZL. McKenzie touches 93 with his four-seamer, and while it typically sits in the high 80s at present there’s obvious room to add a couple notches to the sitting velocity and push the pitch into plus territory. Both his curveball and change are more advanced—a rarity for a pitcher this young—with the curve occasionally showing plus thanks to its depth and hard spin. The change is an above-average offering, as he generates late fade and sells it with excellent arm speed. Like every other pitcher in the system, the delivery is easy to repeat, and he can throw strikes with all three of his pitches, though he can get wild in the zone. He’s light years away from contributing, but outside of Aiken, McKenzie offers the most upside of any pitcher in the system. I was known as Tigger when I was a toddler, because I loved the bouncy chair, and bouncing on furniture. As a result of this bouncing, I needed stitches 3 different times on my face before I turned 2 years old....

    One, or multiple, of these players needs to go to clear up the situation heading into next season - Escobar, Nunez, Polanco (out of options in 2017) Dozier. Dozier IMO provides the best return for the Twins, he'd be first on my priority list. Quite frankly I'd shop all of these guys around the league and see what we can get.

    It may be worth it if FSN airs it, loses the right to broadcast games, and the Twins get a better TV contract. Chief, you know what to do. Take one for the team!

    Preller was the butt of all jokes about bad GMs the last couple of years, but he's taken 2 assets and flipped them for decent returns within the last year. A strategy that our FO has yet to capitalize on....

    He's not doing well. .199 BA. Had a hot month in June but back to below the mendoza line so far this month. Certainly a drop off in production from Suzuki to Murphy but it shouldn't really matter this season.

    Does it matter this season? I would rather have 2 months of MLB data to see if Murphy is a legitimate candidate to be a full time C for 2017-18.

    I don't really see a case for keeping Suzuki this season. Worst case, if the cupboard is bare in 2017, there's nothing stopping this team from resigning Suzuki or a Suzuki type in FA. Trade him now, gather data on Murphy the next 2 months, re-evaluate in November.

    Before you consider taking a vacation to one of the hottest destinations in the country, Chief's house, I would strongly consider reading the latest reviews on TripAdvisor. Here's one for example: Betty in Ohio: Our family was very excited to book our flight and lodge to Chief's House. We were referred to go from one of our friends who says Chief tells the best jokes, and Mrs. Chief cooks the best meals. What we were NOT warned about, however, is what happens if you sit in Chief's chair in the living room. My husband chose Chief's chair to sit in after dinner, and Chief was NOT happy about it. He told us to "GET THE F$%# OUT OF HERE, RIGHT NOW!" Started throwing our luggage out of the window, and chased us down the street holding a baseball bat. 5/5 stars for the food, 1/5 stars for the hospitality. And for the LOVE OF GOD, don't sit in Chief's chair.

    Can't argue with you there, Chief. We've been beaten down by the "small market, woah is us" mentality that the Twins have been portraying the last 20+ years. Instead of challenging the status quo of a Hamels, Tulo, or Price acquisition being unrealistic, we've accepted it. I would love to witness a time where the Twins ARE in the thick of contract/trade negotiations with the Hamels, Tulos, and Prices of the world.

    What other bold options were available last year? I was all on board for a Tulo trade, but that wasn't very realistic. They weren't going to be in the running for Price or Hamels. That leaves... Papelbon? Mark Lowe?

    (Sidenote: I offered to take $125,000, play as a feel-good story in the GCL for the rest of the summer and accept being cut the day the season is over... I'm still waiting for the team's counter-offer.) Counterpoint: If the Twins want to offer $120,000 to a 26 year old RH knuckleball pitcher who once topped out at a whopping 74 MPH in high school, I'm available.

    Yeah I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt with the 750 PAs. I figured there's a chance some bottom feeding team could give him 400-500 PAs as a 27-28 year old to see if he can be an MLB player.

    I will be surprised if Walker has more than 750 career ABs in the major leagues.
