  1. https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/antoine-winfield-jr/xPHI46MyyH I’d guess he’s a mid round pick. I love his instincts on the field. Not sure how he’ll test at the combine but I think he’s going to be a really good pro player.
  2. Good luck to him! I think this will be the start of several high draft picks for the Gophers.
  3. They’ve both been around the game long enough, and hopefully have the self-awareness to know they weren’t a team’s 1st, or, 5th option to sign.
  4. I hear Homer Bailey loves Taco Johns and breakfast pizza from Casey’s. Minnesota is quiet enough for Nelson Cruz to sleep in peace... Erv just loved smelling baseballs anywhere in the world. Nolasco came here to watch the world burn as he tossed beach balls down Broadway.
  5. Concur. I would gain more respect for the FO if they say we had a clear goal after the WS and failed. Fans will never get the full negotiation details. I frankly don’t care anymore who they were in or not in on. Just admit it was a failure and move on.
  6. 2019 was the most fun I had watching the Gophers. This class can look back in the future and know they were the ones who had the most successful season in 106 years. Who knows, maybe this is the start to a consistent contending team! 11 wins was well beyond any expectation I had for the team. Moving forward, the next item I want to see checked off the list is playing in the B1G Championship game.
  7. Very good win to end the best season in over a decade!
  8. I’m past the denial and anger stage of the offseason. Now I’m onto humor, where it’s now funny to think anything was going to change after a 101 win season. I also feel bad for the writers here who have to dig through obscure stats to show Bailey is “just as good” as Zack Wheeler and Bumgarner.
  9. Who else on the Twins staff threw a splitter besides Blake Parker, who was also DFA’d? Any other success stories with pitchers who prefer that pitch? P.S. Bailey is projected for a 5.15 ERA on B-Ref and 4.7 ERA on Steamer. Cheap or not, I don’t like this bet.
  10. Prior to last year, the last season where he had above 1.0 fWAR, or registering a positive bWAR was 2014. You’re willing to bet a 33 year old is on the up and up now?
  11. This isn’t what I envisioned impact pitching to look like. I chuckle because one of our members jud sarcastically said Bailey was going to be a Twin when everyone was still available. He didn’t know how painfully accurate he was at the time...
  12. Ad Astra... Lots of action for the first 90 minutes. The last 30 minutes it’s like the writers were told to wrap it up quickly. Disappointing.
  13. I’m simply saying you can’t argue both ways. Your rebuttal when Chief said Ryu threw 180 innings just last year is I’m only looking forward. Then you use past results to justify a future projection. If you’re only looking forward, then none of his past performance matters.
  14. I wanted to trade for him back in July and nothing has changed on that front. I would have paid the toll of Buxton + Kirilloff and whatever else. Still would today. That’s the team’s only chance to acquire a front of the rotation player under cost controlled terms. If it takes 3 or 4 of the top 5 prospects so be it. There will always be more prospects to hope for in the future.
  15. Why does his past matter when you’re just “looking forward”?
  16. I would put together that prospect package for Thor. He was on the block last July, and I’m not going to make any assumptions that other pitchers like Blake Snell are available.
  17. “I think we feel a breeze,” he (Levine) said with a grin. “We’re feeling a breeze right now. I think we feel like we’re getting to a place now where we feel a little bit more emboldened to sit down with [owner] Jim Pohlad and [President] Dave [st. Peter] and talk about being a little bit more aggressive. We feel like we’re progressing for sure.” “In free agency, we’re going to have a lot of conversations with a lot of players who are freely available to talk to us,” Twins Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey said. “We’re also going to talk to a lot of clubs about players that are on other teams and potential trade targets for us. I can’t put a number or where a guy is or what that means, but we’re going to target impact pitching. I think that’s going to be a big part of our focus, and try to figure out if we can get there.” This FO doesn’t commit to anything and everything all at once.
  18. I love the irony of being so reluctant to pay for the last couple years of a major contract, and advocate trading for the last 3 terrible years of David Price.
  19. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/landing.php?player=461325 His change up has been his go to pitch for years.
  20. Low risk move who can be cut easily if the wheels fall off.
  21. Contending teams generally don't develop pitchers at the MLB level... They call them up when they perform so well at AA/AAA that it can't be ignored anymore.
  22. Remember when the Turtle hit .355 in 97 MLB PAs and people wanted him to be an everyday player last winter? How’d that work out?
  23. Hard to trust 3 players with less than 100 MLB innings combined. I concur with RB 100%. None of these 3 pitchers would be thought of as opening day material. Let alone a team coming off 101 wins. Keep these players as depth and get serious about the rotation or bullpen. I still don’t like the Rays model of opener/heavy bullpen but its better than potentially trusting 3 unknowns. Let’s not change the narrative now because the Twins are striking out in free agency per usual.
  24. I see that Eddie Rosario is the new Brian Duensing throw in on every trade proposal
