Season opener tonight. I’m truly shocked that Wild+, new TV home of the Wild, has not negotiated a deal with Xfinity, DirecTV, etc. I scrambled tonight to sign up for the 7 day free trial on Amazon Prime. What a joke this is becoming trying to watch your sports teams… The Timberwolves are on some app called DAZN. Twins, Wild, and Wolves all want $20 a month or $100 for the season.

Same here. I very much prefer the weekend day games. The Pohlads need to make Target Field an attractive destination. Extending that $2 pregame beers to any day ending in Y is a good start. Take a page out of the Rockies playbook and make Target Field an attractive party destination for folks. Then continue improving the product on the field. -

God dang it… I wanted his June-July resurgence to be the real Royce again. Unfortunately he got more lost at the plate than he did before he got sent to St Paul in May.

I was unfortunately in attendance along with @USAFChiefon June 13th against the St Louis Cardinals when Justin Lawrence gave up 4 runs on 2 HRs over 2/3rds of an inning. The second he was announced as a pitcher I said to my dad and brother the Twins waived the white flag it’s over.

Those words still don’t describe how terrible the Luis Garcia experience was… especially keeping him on roster as long as the Twins did. 9 excruciating appearances should have been 2 or less appearances.

A couple of guys Nick was way too lenient on is Kendry Rojas (B) and Gomez (B+). Rojas’ control issues is what caused Funderburk to be sent to AAA. He got lucky his overall stats aren’t worse. Gomez had a terrible last 12 games. A few guys Nick was way too harsh on is Travis Adams (C-), Cole Sands (F), Zebby Matthews (C-). Adams had a 2nd half turnaround like Funderburk and he didn’t get the bump in grade like Kody? Sands’ career outlook isn’t in jeopardy… Lost seasons suck. Zebby soaked up innings and more often than not had quality starts. A few guys Nick wasn’t harsh enough on is Justin Lawrence, Woo-Suk Go, Luis Garcia, and Austin Voth. Justin Lawrence in particular is one of the worst pitchers I’ve seen in person at the MLB level.

I know you posted this as an extreme example. I did the same in Nick Nelson’s thread yesterday to meaningfully invest in Skubal, Jeffers, and Pete Alonso. It’s going to take an extreme measure like that, plus cheap happy hours more often than the weekends to get casual fans back. Meaning… The Pohlads need to take a few more upper cuts to the chin/wallet to reverse this swirling down the drain they’re on now.

Ryan Jeffers Open to Twins Reunion

Jeffers has certainly earned the right to explore his options. It will be the only time he can cash in... I will be interested to see the contract projections from Fangraphs and MLBTR. Right now I'm assuming 4 years is the minimum, and probably 5 years for the winning bid. If Tom P is hell bent on meaningfully investing in the team, will he go 5 years for Jeffers? -
Oh, and Dallas Turner needs to be green too. Having a great start to the season.

I hope you’re not using PFF grades anymore @Danchat for your ratings, but it does seem to match the eye test. PFF is dead to me… My tidbits about your rankings… How is Jauan Jennings still above average? Has he had a catch yet? Byron Murphy I think has been pretty damn good this season so far. Donovan Jackson I would also upgrade to green…. Brandel and Fries are without a doubt the weak links on the OL.

Tom P still hasn’t figured out yet that the first step is building a young core of talent. Then supplement them with the big money FA signings. He’s gonna try the raising the floor method with middling veterans to be relevant

It really is incredible how low the bar is for some diehards. A Pohlad with just a little bit of self awareness that they’re hated in the state and spending $8 million at the deadline got them hooked again.

What I’m afraid of is another offseason where we retain current players like Jeffers and Bell. Then sign a Brady Singer type of SP for $10-12 million. That’s not going to move the needle for casuals who have long checked out of this organization.
