  1. Yep, I would agree with nytwinsfan if Meyer's starting, it will be for Rochester next year. The Twins are already locked into Santana, Nolasco, Hughes, Gibson, and potentially May for next year. I would argue that Berrios and Duffey jumped ahead of him in line for next prospect called up when someone gets hurt. Personally I would can the starter idea and make him strictly a bullpen guy. Could be a serviceable 8th inning guy or closer of the future.
  2. When you look at this season overall, sure this was a successful year. Considering most of us had them in the 75-85 win range, they're hopefully going to achieve that while staying relevant in the WC chase. I'm a believer in expectations changing during the season, and there were some things that were not changed that IMO could have made this season even better. And those are the frustrations we've noted all year: - The couple weeks prior to the ASG my expectations grew as the team had the 2nd best record in the AL completely unexpectedly. Instead of building on that momentum, very minimal changes were made to the roster. - Trevor May demotion: He was finding his groove as a starter, until E. Santana came back and caused a disruption in the rotation. I didn't feel he should be the odd man out then, and the 1 month disappearance from high leverage action was mind boggling. - World's longest leashes for unworthy veterans: Tim Stauffer got 3 months worth of paychecks for....reasons. Duensing, Boyer, Robinson all still getting more playing time than I would like. So overall there's been good, and bad, with this season. Who knows, they could get hot in September like they did in May, but I think this season could have been even better with some aggressive moves earlier this season.
  3. No doubt! Entry-level engineers, no matter the discipline (civil, electrical, mechanical, etc.) make some dang good money off the bat.... No chance I am smart enough to know how they do their jobs, but it's nice to make money finding better opportunities for them
  4. hope your son stays on the engineering path! I recruit engineers for a living and know there's a huge demand for them....
  5. Boyer probably got more grief than he should have, and he was one of our most reliable relievers for a period of time in May-June... Problem was they tried using him like Matt Guerrier by giving him boatloads of appearances. I recall Nick Nelson's mid-season stats article that brought up red flags, and Boyer was one of them for being overused. The guy had 37 appearances in the last 4 seasons combined, so I'm not sure what the expectation was going into this season. Probably not over 50 appearances is my guess..
  6. Agreed. I think it's going to get very ugly as soon as next year from the TD community on getting him out of town ASAP.
  7. I would think the Rockies need a little more than that. If a trade like that went through, essentially they traded Tulo for Ervin, and 3-4 prospects that I can't recall their names without looking it up. From the Twins perspective, absolutely make that deal. It will be interesting to see who the fan base despises more in the future, E. Santana, Nolasco, or Hughes.
  8. There was a time a few years back that the NBA and NHL experienced a lockout, and during that time, were able to amnesty one contract in order to save the owners from a bad investment. The NBA since then has gone back to their old ways of giving below average players $17 million a season to play, so clearly they didn't learn their lesson. Here's a fun hypothetical: If you could amnesty one contract from the Twins, who would you choose? Plenty of options to choose from..... My choice? Ervin Santana.
  9. Nice, Reusse hits the nail on the head. I know these are tweets, but did Reusse have TR on his radio show or interview him and call him out on said horse manure?
  10. Thoughts on the season overall? I felt it was very underwhelming compared to season 1, for reasons that others have mentioned. Poor writing and dialogue throughout the show. This season compared to last season: They introduced so many side characters and minor cases that it was hard to care about character names... I don't think it was so bad that they're not going to do it again, but for season 3, they need to find the magic of season 1 again.
  11. I'm with you Turd... I'm not sure the proper terminology to use: atheist or secular, but I know the feeling you're going through. My parents are actively involved in the church, and when I was younger they did their best to instill the values in me with confirmation, communion, the whole nine yards. It could have been a number of factors, from the church we went to, format of the church service, or something else. For some reason it didn't click with me, and I've yet to tell them my true feelings about it. Back to the article, Arian Foster has gained a new fan, and he articulated his thoughts on the subject much better than I ever could.
  12. The most talented baseball team in MN is on ESPN.... The Twins should sign a couple of these kids for the September playoff push
  13. Looks like we may be holding off on the Berrios call up for.... Michael Bowden????? WHO?
  14. Who in the F is Michael Bowden?
  15. There's something about 1919 Rootbeer ice cold from a glass bottle that reminds me of childhood...
  16. I hope you're right on the prediction, I'd love to watch him pitch... Call me a skeptic, but I can't see it happening in mid-August at the risk of burning an option year. More likely to see him in September and start the option years in 2016.
  17. Yep, very few on the list push the needle up in significant trade negotiations during this season... This offseason Plouffe would be the best option to use as a feature piece in trade talks for position upgrades. Preferably for younger, near MLB-ready talent at C or SP if they go that route.
  18. Not sure if I'm breaking any news to you, but there's a 85% chance you'll get a contact high at the Techn9ne concert.
  19. You're absolutely right! I forgot they scratched the love song angle of "Circle Me Babe" and made it sound errily similar to Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
  20. I reckin' he's one of those Cy Young types, Chief. You sure that's how you say his name? Looks like Guh Lardo to me. Daniels is always fixin' to change the rotation. Fight Texas, fight!
  21. That's what dawned on me how big the state is. Took 11 hours of consistent driving to get to OKC from Bloomington. Another 6 the next day to end up in Austin. And 7 hours to get to So. Padre Island from Austin....
  22. That is still true. I could look outside the bedroom window at my last apartment and see a TX state flag waving proudly. It was big enough to be viewed from the International Space station in my estimation.
  23. Way too long to get to the punchline. Creative signs like that cause serious accidents, and doubles my commute.
  24. Potential song titles written by Bert: "HOF" "The Ugly City, Detroit Detroit" "I F'd this up" "Let's do this F'in thing again" "Circle Me Babe" - every band needs a love song Others?
  25. You'd be surprised how you acclimate after a while being in the TX heat. It's currently 105 today, been near 100 for the last week and a half. Sometimes you're too dang hot to sweat! And the beers go down easier too.......
