  1. I've seen it called a lot and argued to be called even more.
  2. When did the Royals decide one of the very best defensive CFs in the game the last four years should be moved to RF?
  3. If Kepler runs all out there, he's safe
  4. The Keys stats this broadcast team uses cracks me up.
  5. I had a two year tour in Germany, and was never there for OKtoberfest.
  6. I was wondering which arcane rule he was referring to.
  7. yeah, pretty soon he'll hit doubt digits... The second game in his last 11 games he got at least one BB. That qualifies as quite often recently for Dick.
  8. So two games in a row with Mauer not at 1B? yup, defense is a priority...
  9. Bert now thinks players should have intent before getting called out for running outside the baseline. Players are taught to run inside on bunts to try and force a bad throw. The rules are in place. Run in the baseline. No need to read a players mind to see if he meant to interfere.
  10. the point of showing his FIP is to show that even with a good defense, he would still be a bad starter. As far as knowing why one gives someone an extension, thats obvious. What apparently isnt obvious is the type of player that makes it a good move for the team to buy out some free agent years. Gibson is not one.
  11. he is in his prime years now and he blows. He is getting worse not better. Players dont normally get better in their early thirties which is where hed be in his FA eligible years. Id rather we shoot for better myself.
  12. For the love of (insert Deity of Choice), don't buy out any of his free agent years. I think I mentioned that earlier. Why would we want to buy out his age 32 and beyond years after seeing what kind of pitcher he is in supposedly his prime now? Cause the first year of FA years, he'll be 32.
  13. And they were 22nd in DRS last year and last in 2014. Buxton has 6 DRS in only 500 or so innings played in the field Mauer has 4 DRS in hair over 700 innings played in the field.
  14. Do we have awesome defenders coming? Right now his FIP is 4.64, his worst in 3 seasons, so I don't know. Not sure he can use defense as an excuse.
  15. Been saying this for at least two years. DH him. It's where he will end up. In any event, I'm not pushing to keep Plouffe, but this idea that we should just let him go for nothing seems like an unfair view of what Plouffe worked his behind off to become.
  16. I'm right there with you. Don't do Facebook, don't do twitter, none of it.
  17. Yup. And, as a bonus, he was a 1st round pick. another top notch selection. 11 first round picks from '06-11, not a good one in the bunch.
  18. There are also people saying Plouffe should just be let go when he was worth over 6 WAR between 2014 and 2015. I still think he wasn't traded because Ryan never tried to trade him.
  19. I didn't say it was his fault, whatever that is supposed to mean. I said one needs to look at who he was pitching against before letting this game get everyone ramped up again about Gibson's potential. I also never said don't offer him arbitration. I wouldn't, however, buy out any free agent years.
  20. Metrodome, for all it's faults, was still better than what the As have to play in. What a dump.
  21. Plouffe has had an off year for sure (mostly due to injury I imagine) but this is a guy who was worth over 6 WAR combined between 2014 and 2015. He may be the least wanted Twins on the team now that Nolasco is gone, but we could very well be giving away real value if we just let him walk.
  22. I'm glad he had a good game, but some perspective. Last night was his 7th quality start in 17 attempts this year and it was against the team that has 23 less runs scored than the team that is 29th in scoring. In fact, he's only had 4 quality starts this year against top half offenses (Boston, Texas, Baltimore and LA Angels).
  23. All MLB players have good games here and there. Even bad defenders make an occasional great play. Even horrible hitters can have a nice streak, etc. Gibson has had 7 quality starts out of 17 games started this year. He'll be 29 going into next season and we're talking about his potential still? Had these same conversation last year around this time when so many said he had turned corner. He is what he is now. He's not anything close to a consistent MLB starter (or a good one, for that matter). He's a borderline #4/#5 starting pitcher, at best. He not the kind of guy you plan to keep past his arbitration years.
  24. Buxton was drafted in 2012. Preseason 2013, after only playing in rookie ball for 48 games in 2012 and not having even reached A Ball, he was listed: 10th by BA. 19th by MLB. 8th by BP. He has, quite literally, never been out of the top 20 as a prospect in a preseason poll by the big three in which he was a professional player
  25. Yes, some people are frustrated. Some people have ridiculous beliefs, like believing a #2 draft pick who has been a top 20 prospect for four years straight and a top 2 prospect for three years straight should not be completely and utterly overmatched at the plate. I'm not sure why it's wrong to hold that player to higher expectations than we would a 5th round player not in the top 100. It's not that he isn't reaching ridiculous expectations. He's not meeting the mildest expectations. he doesn't look close to being able to meet even modest expectations. Oh, and P.S., I doubt too many people truly believed Buxton was the next Trout. Trout is a once in a generation player. May end up the best player a good chunk of us have ever actually seen play while we were alive and baseball fans.
