  1. Can't argue with that. I remember when the Red Sox were the Red Sox.
  2. Cubs looks great. Theo, Hoyer and company have turned that team into an exciting team. Brought in a great manager and all that youth up. Better record than 4 of the 6 division leaders while playing in a very tough division.
  3. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/probability.jsp?ymd=20150821 'Postseason probabilities are courtesy of Baseball Prospectus and indicate each team's probability of winning the division or wild card, or any postseason berth. Probabilities are based on thousands of Monte Carlo simulations of the remaining season schedule incorporating each team's year-to-date run differential, current roster composition, playing time projections and remaining schedule.'
  4. Twins have a 4.5% chance of making the playoffs.
  5. Trea Turner just got promoted to the majors.
  6. based on our options, he should have always been the shortstop. better defender, more realistic and sustainable offensive numbers (not offensive numbers based on a ridiculous BABIP).
  7. I think what we've seen is that his last 4 starts has really boosted up those numbers in a 55 PA sample size. Last 7 days, 16 PAs: .400/.438/.733. (6 hits) Which helps the below: Last 14 days, 34 PA: .267/.354/.467. (8 hits, which includes the 6 from last 16 PAs) When looking at the last 55 PAs, he did through the roof amazing the last 16 PAs. He got 6 hits in 16 PA, and 8 hits in the previous 39. Basically, he had a hot week, which skews a short sample size. While I agree with Brock that Eduardo has been the better option, and have said so at various times throughout the year, there's a reason we shouldn't draw conclusions on 55 PA. One might argue he did just as well in his 65 PAs in June.
  8. Let's see how the fans from Fangraphs ranked team FOs and what Jeff Sullivan had to say about the crowd sourcing results. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/front-office-ratings-by-the-community/
  9. you should give us your list.
  10. My point was, it's not just us wacky impatient unknowing blogger Twins fans who don't see him as a top 5 GM or one of the better GMs. BTW, Dombrowski is considered a fantastic GM by practically every supposed expert I listen to (and I listened/read a lot after the Tigers released him from his contract). Heard things like HOF GM. Look at his body of work. It's probably why it took him a whole minute to land the Boston President job.
  11. Sporting News did a MLB GM ranking. They put Ryan at 17. The year before he was 21st. Certainly one could argue a few ahead of him may not deserve it and also a few behind him should be ranked ahead of him. But it's been a long time since I saw a ranking that had him in the top half. And these aren't done by Twins fans. http://www.sportingnews.com/list/4646251-baseball-general-manager-rankings-2015-best-worst-beane-sabean-cherington-cashman/slide/328815
  12. Rosario's sub-par OBP is hard to see when you consider his BABIP is well above average. There is absolutely room for concern. Hopefully he works on that this offseason.
  13. well, in fairness, that would require him to make any kind of bold move, which he's never done. GMing not to fail isn't the way I like GMs to operate, myself.
  14. First season was great. Second season was hit and miss. Liked Vaughn's portrayal though.
  15. Kepler starts in AAA and is kept as insurance just in case Rosario or Hick falters (if either, more likely Rosario than Hicks).
  16. Kiley just did a new prospects list at Fangraphs. Berrios is #7 (with Buxton being #2). Kepler is mentioned too. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-post-trade-deadline-prospect-update/
  17. Not just the pitching, offense has taken a dive too. 10th in scoring the first half, 23rd in the 2nd half.
  18. There are some who argue that there are times to take Ryan at his word (when he says stuff we like to hear) and others times when they say we shouldn't have taken him at his word because he's saying things he has to as a GM. Sometimes it's the same exact comment, but different points in time. Like after when the good thing he said turns out to be total bunk (like how he said he'd do everything he could to seriously improve the rotation and then went and signed Correa, Harden, Pelfrey and traded for Worley.
  19. yup, when Hicks comes back and the rosters have expanded. unless they demote Buxton again, which could happen.
  20. That hasn't occurred yet. There are still plenty who are arguing against that having been the right course of action.
  21. I agree Buxton taking away playing time from Hicks and Rosario wouldn't be ideal, which is why I never suggested that happen and there's no reason it would have to happen,at least not more than it already was with Robinson. And if talking about things that should happen as opposed to things that will happen is dumb, let's shut down the place.
  22. There is no reason to suggest that if we had brought up Buxton he would have had to platoon thereby stunting his professional development. THAT would be dumb. You start Buxton/Rosario/Hicks as much as possible, you DFA Robinson, you use Hunter as a 4th OF and you promote the heck out of the outfield of the future. People would be excited to see the young trio, and they'd still see some Hunter, super-mentor. And you probably help the team by having that defense.
  23. Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck
