  1. There were a lot of 'experts' who liked to disregard our team during preseason predictions and then when our very talented squad did well over and over, they were like, 'It must be the managing'. Couldn't possibly be that they under-estimated the team consistently.
  2. On MLB Network today, Jonathan Mayo says Berrios was the best right handed pitcher in the minors this year and got even better when he moved from AA to AAA. He finished praising Berrios by saying 'The only mystery is why he's not up in the big leagues trying to help the Twins in their wild card push right now.'
  3. You'd think they'd at least serve Busch and Busch Light :-)
  4. Maybe next year when/if Rosario plays a full season at an OF spot, he'll be worthy of and get a gold glove. Not that gold gloves mean much.
  5. Nope, that's not true. You have it backwards. It's by position now and it's been that way since 2011. From the early 1960s to 2010, they picked 3 OF regardless of position. I also seem to remember they picked 4 OF one year in the mid 80s for the NL side.
  6. Francona retiring?
  7. Awesome! Now I can really show my dislike for him without a hint of guilt. With their penchant for veterans, he should be very happy :-) Maybe Gardy can convince ownership to pry Ryan away from the Twins to join him.
  8. Camden Yards is still my favorite. Coors Field is great as is Target Field.
  9. For clarification, when you wrote: 'Run prevention has been a sizable issue for Minnesota over the past several seasons, and lousy outfield defense has been an overlooked culprit in that equation' did you mean by team leadership? Cause I think it's been a glaringly obvious, extremely detrimental weakness for quite some time including going into this season. I understand some minimize the importance of defense, especially OF defense (specifically corner OF defense), but plenty weren't in that camp.
  10. For players who played at least 550 innings in LF, Rosario actually has the best range of all of them.
  11. good info, thank you. thou, I think maybe a brush up on what the ARM stat tries to tell us is in order. 'ARM (outfield arm runs): Outfielder’s get credit (plus or minus) depending on what the runners do on a hit or a fly ball out. A runner can stay put, advance, or get thrown out. A fielder will get credit not only if he throws out more than his share of runners, but also if he keeps more than his share of runners from advancing extra bases.' Not sure it really means his arm is the strongest. That number is heavily influenced by outfield assists, which isn't really a stat that tells us about the strength of an OF arm. I hope his number stays strong as the league gets the book and studies the book on him. I'm not saying his arm isn't awesome. I just want to see more than like 70 games before saying best in the AL.
  12. He's a moron if he believes that. In fact, pretty much everything he says in that article is unbelievably insulting, especially the part where he says captured military personnel (POWs) aren't war heroes and he prefers the ones who didn't get caught.
  13. I think Gordon is a better outfielder and I'm not sure how you can say with certainty Rosario has the best arm of any LF. Do you have info to back that up? Gordon may be hurt by all the time missed this year and even so, he has more time in LF than Rosario.
  14. Well we all know for sure we will be in the playoffs next year (and for years to come) even if we miss this year. So it's all good.
  15. Guardado, for his career, had 66% of plate appearances against end up with ball in play. 4% below league average during the time he played and 7% below 2015 Twins pitching staff average. So, not really.
  16. Looks like Mr. Springer gets the day off after his blunderous day. Probably wasn't quite ready to come back.
  17. I find it funny how so many bought into the Royals making the bullpen a priority but discarded another important part of their success: Quality defense all over the field including corner OF defense. So many discount the defense part of the game, minimizing the importance, but it is important and a game like this is a good example. Our OF defense shined, their OF defense cost them the game (though the guy who blew it is normally very good).
  18. George Springer is definitely the goat for the Astros today. Misplayed a ball that allowed two Twins to score and struck out 4 times.
  19. Springer is a pretty great defender, but he blew that. It's like he had it in his head he'd have to dive, then realized he didn't have to and that was it
  20. Horrible play by Springer. No need to dive there. Trying to make Play of the Day catch
  21. like I said much earlier, this umpire's K zone is huge. And the 1B umpire doesn't know what a check swing looks like.
  22. I don't know why teams don't run all the time on the Twins.
  23. I was reading a chat yesterday and someone suggested that at times, depending on who was at bat, that the Twins employ 5 IFs and put Buxton in LF-C and Hicks in RF-C. Sullivan seemed to think that might make sense sometimes.
  24. Buxton almost overran that ball :-)
