  1. So lets say we have some companies that go out and sign or train top notch employees Their training programs are top notch. They have great mentorship programs and innovative thinking. Their department heads are top notch. Then we have competing companies and those other companies have less talented employees who aren't trained as well and don't have good mentorship programs and who have bosses that aren't innovative and so on. Do the second group of employees get all the blame when the companies they work for go under, or is there an underlying problem?
  2. anyone listening to Jack, Bert and Anthony right now? Slamming the team, pretty much, AND OF COURSE, Bert and Jack comparing their complete games to pitchers nowadays and they question why our guys can't have a ton of complete games too. And, haha, Bert just said Ervin Santana, Nolasco and Hughes could be pitchers like Jack and Bert. Guys you can be counted on to stop losing streaks and such. Stopper type pitchers.
  3. It was done in front of several Lords. Just don't know what happened with the decree itself.
  4. People say that, but it's not always true. Often it isn't. As good as Braun's bat was as a rookie, they benched Braun in the late innings for the last month and couldn't wait to move him out of the IF. Cabrera has been moved to different spots, as was Pujols. Those are three great bats and their teams decided they shouldn't play a more premium position even with their bats. I don't think they were wrong, myself. In any event, unfortunately, the Twins did something and also didn't do something that makes your wish a real issue. That's on the FO.
  5. I have this thing about defense where I don't like our players to have the defense capability barometer of 'not the worst in his league at his position'. I like the bar a bit higher than that.
  6. and to me, he's looked good when coming in on balls and bad going lateral. So we are in disagreement. I think DH is his ultimate position, and since he plays in the AL and DH is a requirement, there's nothing wrong with that.
  7. I'm talking about 3B, haven't mentioned where he normally plays for us currently. I'm not allowed to talk about that.
  8. What happens when/if he finds out Jon was legitimized by Rob (assuming he doesn't know already)? Then it wouldn't matter whether he married Sansa or not, he wouldn't be Warden of the North. Does he still help her? BTW, all of what had happened is really his fault. He got it rolling. If he wants to blame someone for Kat's death, he needs to look in the mirror.
  9. Haven't looked. Everyone know Polanco was optioned? Not that anyone would notice. Oh, BTW, is Meyer still in the Twins organization? :-)
  10. I actually like your explanation best. It's the closest to making sense. Unfortunately, they didn't even go there. Oh well, it's done. Now I want him to show up to help her even when she turned him down.
  11. Players should keep themselves in shape. They are professional athletes and they have plenty of time off in the offseason to get in shape (not to mention, some of the best people in the world available to help them stay in good shape). Players like Omar Visquel, Jeter, Hunter, etc. These guys should be emulated in regards to conditioning. They stayed in top notch shape their whole careers. No excuse to come into spring training in anything less than 90% ready, with ST finishing out the remaining 10%.
  12. I didn't think for a second you were trying to be snarky buddy. I appreciate the fix. But to the point about M and M with O (would we have called them Mom? :-)), I really doubt if Ortiz becomes the player he is if he stayed.
  13. Are you judging his minor league defense by fielding %? I don't know. He looks very good when coming in on slow rollers, but his lateral is bad, IMO. I think when even the Twins are going out of their way not to play him there, that tells us something. Look how long it took them to come to the conclusion with Plouffe, Santana, Casilla and Dozier about shortstop.
  14. yeah, I was really referring to just him moving on and being great and just mis-wrote how that happened. The point is the same, but thanks for the correction.
  15. IMO, he has the ability to be an outstanding HITTER, but to me a generational talent needs to at least be able to field his position somewhat well.
  16. A lot of this reminds me of the Ortiz trade. I very much doubt Ortiz because Big Papi with us, but I sure don't want Sano killing us from the DH position for another team for the next 15-20 years.
  17. I get why Sansa had to be the one there, and I get what you're saying. I'm saying having Littlefinger be the one to take her there was nonsense. It wouldn't have happened. He wouldn't have taken the chance with her. He wouldn't have given her to someone like him for any amount of time. She's the only person in the world he actually cares anything about. I rarely complain about the show's writing. I rarely care about deviations from the book. This is pretty much the only one that has really bothered me. Overall, it's a great show.
  18. The offense was pretty bad last year too. Sequencing made it look better to some than it actually was.
  19. So some want to defend Ryan's relatively inactive offseason by saying the experts predicted regression for many of the team members so no need to spend this offseason, and then the same people admit they themselves expected us to be in the playoffs (or serious playoff contenders). That confuses me. If you believed they were playoff contenders or playoff bound, that means you didn't agree with the experts and, therefore, should have expected them to do more in the offseason to make themselves true contenders. So, what I missing something? In fact I remember some staunch Ryan supporters saying if he didn't go hard at improving the team this offseason, since they were serious playoff contenders, thaat they would be upset. Then he did practically nothing and not a peep was heard...except the tune changing to the idea that the team was already so well put together that Ryan didn't need to do much. I know I was told by many that I was crazy for not believing the talent on this team was enough to be a serious playoff contender. I kept being reminded by some about how I felt about last year's team and expecting the other shoe to drop and the team stayed in contention all season. I maintained my belief of the talent level on this team, maintained my belief their record didn't reflect their talent, and I was slammed for it by people saying that the team Ryan had made was going to make the next step this year to the playoffs so need for much in the offseason. I guess my point is, while no one expected us to be this bad (and no one is happy about it), it was pretty obvious that this team was not a well put together team, yet Ryan is still someone immune from fault? It's the players, it's the manager, it's the minor league development? It's everyone's fault but Ryan's who is doing a good job? How does that happen?
  20. And if we are talking hypocrisy, for those who believe Odor got upset about the slide, if that's true, he's a serious hypocrite because he's done way worse on slides many, many, many times.
  21. So last night's episode tried to explain why Littlefinger would have given Sansa to Ramsay. Truth is, he wouldn't have given SANSA to ANYONE he didn't know everything about. Like Sansa said, he knows about everyone so either he's an idiot (which he isn't) or he purposely gave her to a monster (which he wouldn't have done). There is no way to explain it, cause there's no way he would have done it. That was the big problem with the show writers deciding to have Littlefinger put Sansa in Winterfell with Ramsay. GRRM didn't do that in the books. It wasn't Sansa, it was an Arya imposter.
  22. serious shift, and then they want to pitch him outside?
  23. I doubt Richard has read that the called strike zone has expanded each year over the past 5, 6 years. The pitches many players were used to being called balls are now called strikes. Anyone see the highlights of the Angels game yesterday? Umpire was calling balls barely above the shoes strikes.
  24. Well, if Hughes does end up having to go on the DL, it's comforting to know that we have a bunch of quality depth to replace him...
