  1. and you figure that Ryan would actually do that? If so, based on what?
  2. He'd be a quality GM in the same way Dave Stewart is. Both old school minds trying to succeed using the wrong barometers for measuring/reviewing talent. I'd like for him to be the White Sox GM or manager though. Maybe something in PR, or radio. Or heck, even David St Peter's job.
  3. If Mauer wasn't getting his money, if he hadn't been signed, Pohalds would be 23M a year richer or we'd have 3-4 mediocre players being paid instead.
  4. thank you.
  5. The blame falls mostly on Ryan with some Mollie mixed in. Players obviously too though the roster just isn't good and that's on Ryan. None of the younger guys seem ready and that's on the development of the young guys.
  6. clearly true as evident by today's game.
  7. forgot to mention the defense, though that's understandable. Seems our defense is nonexistant
  8. those kind of quotes drive me crazy.
  9. I didn't expect this team to be good. I guessed 78 wins. Looks like I was too optimistic, cause it would be amazing if they got to that.
  10. Did it look like Dozier got wood on that pitch? Then he wastes his reprieve by watching strike three (though probably not an actual strike, but too close to let go).
  11. I agree with almost the entirety of your post, but I'll address the part of your post I put in bold. In today's day and age, and with pitchers not close to ready in our system, signing Hughes for 3 years at 8M a year wasn't bad. It's about what one pays for a veteran #4, #5 pitcher. I know, crazy, but its true. It's not a big contract nowadays. That signing was fine, IMO. The team assuming he'd continue what he did in 2014 and re-doing his contract, was the huge problem.
  12. The runners didn't fail to move up because of the strong throw, Richard. Rosario went too far on an obvious fly out instead of tagging and moving up on the throw. Then he steals 3B, which is fine, but probably not advisable since there were two outs and he was already in scoring position.
  13. No doubt. but this team just doesn't have the talent. don't seem to develop it well (at least as it pertains to the minor league talent flowing over the being able to play quality ML ball). The FA signings, the extensions, etc. again, this team likely wouldn't have a single player on a 25 man All AL Central roster. That's sad.
  14. Nice list. Coeur d'Alene is probably the prettiest non-coastal city I've seen in the US. As far as coastal cities go, I like Carmel, CA.
  15. Now the announcers are putting all the blame on the players. Molitor and Ryan, free of blame. Then they under-cut Maddon's value. Funny thing is, they talk about how great of a roster the Cubs have. That's fair. Doesn't Epstein and Hoyer get credit for assembling such a team? Ryan has assembled this team and yet all the blame goes on the players and not the poorly constructed roster?
  16. Bremer said this team can't be as bad as they are playing. Then both he and Bert said last year's team didn't overachieve. These guys DO watch the games, right? They do look at the numbers, right?
  17. Team just isn't that talented. Below average defensively and offensively. Very bad pitching. If we made an All AL Central 25 man roster, we might not even have one player on the team.
  18. I love the Black Hills especially right outside of Spearfish.
  19. I'll likely be heading there in October. I'll let you know and maybe we can meet up and stumble around some of the weird bars they have :-)
  20. I lived in both South Dakota and North Dakota for a long time and there's no doubt in my mind S Dakota is more beautiful.
  21. You said you are in Portland, right? Have you been downtown to the food truck block? How about the Whisky Library Bar. Awesome look inside. Then there's Ringler's Annex. Awesome look outside. There's a reason they have signs that say, Keep Portland Weird. It's weird and awesome!
  22. IMO, after Mrs. Pohlad died (bless her soul), this became nothing more than a business to the Pohlads. That includes Carl and now his kids.
  23. they called that a hit (not an error by Dozier, which it should have been) then an error by Sano (got that part right)
