  1. Chicago is your favorite city in the World?
  2. To me (and others on this site), it was pretty obvious we were below average in offense, defense and pitching going into the season. While this record is worst than I imagined, it shouldn't be a surprise we are bad at all three aspects of the game. Yet Mr. Ryan finds it hard to figure that the Twins have been struggling in all aspects. I'm curious what aspects of the game he legitimately thought we'd be good at. Be nice if we didn't have to add lack of fundamentals to the mix as well, but we have. I didn't see so much of that coming and perhaps that's why it's even worse than expected.
  3. A memorabilia store manager had to cancel an autograph signing by Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor after "it got too big, too fast." Store manager Brett Kravitz told ESPN on Saturday afternoon that the June 4 event, in which Odor would sign photos of his punch to Jose Bautista's face for a premium, would no longer take place. Odor's representatives expressed that the timing of the event wasn't good, considering that Odor is still appealing his eight-game suspension for his role in the fight. The timing wasn't good because of the appeal? Really? Unbelievable! Because THAT is why it would be inappropriate. Obviously, they agreed to do it with the details they had and the fact it was originally scheduled, Goes on to say, ',Kravitz said two inscriptions Odor might have signed were "Don't Mess With Texas," a popular inscription on the famous Nolan Ryan-Robin Ventura punch photo from 1993, and "Bat Flip Will Get You A Fat Lip," a reference to Bautista's famous bat flip last season.' You'll notice the second saying they were thinking of using. Funny, nothing about the slide. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/15644967/rougned-odor-texas-rangers-cancels-autograph-session-due-bad-timing
  4. that's what happens when he gets to face such a consistently bad pitching staff over and over.
  5. yeah, this stuff gets old. Then again, you have fans saying we should hit Bautista in his 1st AB today too, so you know.
  6. What's funny is when people say everything being pointed out is due to hindsight when SOOOOOOOO much of it wasn't at all.
  7. remember all that quality depth at OF and SP so many pointed out before the season started? Pat Dean and Grossman.
  8. Well, I haven't had a professional team that is my favorite in that sport win a championship since the mid 90s. My oldest child (who is married, owns his home and has already served his enlistment) wasn't alive the last time the Twins won a W. Series. The last time any team that is my favorite team in a sport won a championship happened this year when UND won the National Championship in hockey this year.
  9. Harper is the best player in baseball? Did Trout retire? :-) Not even sure Harper is the best player in that part of the country. Machado says, 'hello' :-) Oh, BTW, I am a fan of Harper and how he plays. And it's awesome how excellent his numbers are this year even with a horrendous BABIP. To answer the question: For a very long time, I've liked the Twins, Rockies and then Cubs. Those will always be the team I root for.
  10. yeah, because the players would miss the cooler when swinging at it.
  11. This team, ugh, so hard to finish watching a Twins game with the way this team plays. I've only been a Twins fan since like '84, '85, and I have never, ever, been disgusted with a team as much I am with this one. There is not one phase of the game this team does even remotely well. So hard to watch.
  12. Santana is still sitting in the dugout fighting tears away. Rest of dugout is empty.
  13. Having watched/listened that guy on TV for quite some time (wish that wasn't true), he likely scoffed because he doesn't believe an old school HOFer would be on the hot seat. Very likely also believes Molitor shouldn't be on the hot seat.
  14. not everyone seems to agree. someone just wrote a day or two ago that we had a very good 40 man roster. :-)
  15. I hope that Rey is a Kenobi and it turns out that this whole Saga is about how the Kenobi's were the unheralded good guys who brought balance to the force and that the Skywalkers were the evil ones after all. That's the kind of twwist that would make an awesome story even more awesome! And while I mostly hated Episode I, Qui-Gonn was a great character (and Maul was too).
  16. There is only ONE Star Wars night a year and that is May 4th.
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but Mauer got a double and THEN was tagged out? Did they call that a single because I know I saw the same thing happen less than a week ago in a different game where it was called a double. It should too, since he did reach safely only to then be caught off the bag.
  18. https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/jgfluklgounteqcnloba.gif One of my favorite headlines ever.
  19. how small of a hick town do you come from? :-)
  20. I disagree, it wasn't going to get cut off.
