    Yeah, I've been railing, for years, on the fact that not enough errors are called and that we should hold MLB players to higher standards. And I still don't think that was an error. So we disagree. And it's not like I'm an apologist for Sano's defense...

    So, first Trump didn't have sex with Stormy Daniels. Didn't even know her. Then it comes out that a payment was made, but it wasn't hush money. Then it was hush money but Trump didn't know anything about it. Then he knew about it after the fact, but it somehow didn't violate campaign finance law. AND NOW, he directed payments to two different women because he didn't want the affairs to come out before the election (which we knew a long time ago). And it violates campaign finance law. And he'll still deny it. And his followers, including the religious ones who preach adultery is so bad it's a sin, will blindly believe him like they always do and/or won't care one bit.

    Yeah, and you're right about the comparison. I don't know. I'd say he was a pretty good ballplayer overall.

    He had a hair under 23 fWAR in like, what, 17 or so seasons, right? Two AS games, one SS. Great might be over-stating. Mauer has more than twice as much fWAR in 200 or so less games played.

    They are letting Giolito take his lumps this year. Probably a good thing. I imagine he'll end up pretty good.

    I thought we played over our heads last year, so I expected us to lose more games this year than last year and not make the playoffs this year. And, as it stands right now, I can't see any reason to think they will be a contender next year. I don't think the talent is there to compete with the teams ahead of us.

    So we just have to wait until Stewart has burned 4 years of control and/or is 30 years old? :-) It's too bad our first round pick took this long to figure it out (assuming he can continue this next year). It's also too bad that this is a standard/best case scenario we have for a #4 overall pick.

    Last year, Stewart carried an ERA of 4.23 between AA and AAA. He averaged 6.3 SO9 and 5.0 BB9. This year, Stewart carried an ERA of 4.47 between AA and AAA. He averaged 8.4 SO9 and 2.7 BB9 Overall... Stewart spent parts of three seasons in AA, 3.87 ERA, averaging 6.5 SO9 and 4.2 BB9. Stewart spent parts of two seasons in AAA, 4.34 ERA, averaging 6.9 SO9 and 2.6 BB9. Those are pretty poor numbers (certainly don't scream promote me)and Berrios dwarfed those AA and AAA numbers when he was there...

    I asked cause I couldn't find the guy. I know Gurriel is close, but he was the only AL 1B I found close. I know at the end of July no one player in the entire AL, regardless of position, had a better BA w/RISP. At that point, his numbers with RISP were: .426/.500/.611. They've gotten better across the stat line :.429/.513/.635.

    We haven't shown the ability to take advantage of high draft spot.

    Mauer has come to the plate 78 times with RISP this year and walked only 13 times. That's, what, a hair less than 17% of the time? And two of those walks were intentional. So really, more like 14% of the time. So I wouldn't expect him to look for a walk in that situation. Nor would I expect a HR :-) But I am happy for him and the team he hit the HR.
