  1. I imagined when I was a younger person that it would come to that. Why pay real humans to do a job that robots can do just well, or just poorly? Input errors, quirks, abilities, and mannerisms into them and watch them play. Full-sized 3-D robots in our headsets while Rome burns. Unintended consequences anyone?
  2. T. Hunter oozes genuine positivity. I like it. He would make a fine coach, I think.
  3. The longest 9-inning game took 32 minutes per half inning. We're now through two, and it has taken 66 minutes. I know it's early ...
  4. I was thinking along those same lines. The record length of a 9-inning game is 4:45. We've not yet started the bottom of the second and the game has taken 52 minutes. While I hate long games I also look forward to records being broken!
  5. I'm watching, so it hasn't driven me away either. It's just that (to me) the epic rise in use of relief pitching is annoying. I wish there was some way to deal with it, but I can't think of any way.
  6. The singular way to speed up the game is to use fewer relief pitchers per game. This, however, cannot be regulated. Pandora's box has been opened, and so the length (and general tedium) of games will go on.
  7. 10 pitchers to pitch 17 innings of baseball. Yawn.
  8. Maybe Buxton, not yet 23 1/2 years old, should be sent to AAA for an extended period, like say a year or more. I know others think (and I have thought) he needs to work it out at the big league level, but ... when he's 26, could ... really, I have nothing original to say.
  9. If Buxton is still hitting under .100 in June what would a June swoon look like?
  10. Francona must be pretty exciting at home too. Does he change desserts three or four times after dinner?
  11. Sounds like a manager with a front office problem to me.
  12. I would say (tongue in cheek) that no one flirts with .500. Teams flirt with winning it all! That's true flirtation.
  13. The Twins aren't hitting at all, yet they're 7-4. The pitching has been out of this world, and will come back to earth. Hopefully, the rise of our hitting will not coincide with the fall of our pitching. On another note, it's time to bring up Park or Vargas to ramp the offense up. Damn it.
  14. GArcia would have caught that lazy liner in right.
  15. Reynolds wondered if Buxton had ever been hit in the head, which would imply Buxton is gun-shy. That he pulls his head, possibly, out of fear which he may not even be aware of.
  16. It was always too soon to play J. Geils Band ... Centerfold. Sheesh.
  17. Just read the game thread for Sox fans. They're not nearly as in-depth or as funny as ours. I have to say I'm going on past performances, as I haven't been following TD game threads so far this year. I just assume you're all funny, and stuff, as ever,
  18. By the same token, Buxton has got off to an awful start at the plate. If this continues long enough, the management may well have to send him down to the minors. Calling him good, and batting him third can only do so much; the player has to do the rest.
  19. Sounds reasonable enough!
  20. I've read the comments, and man, you took a beating, No Crying. I thank you for your input, however maligned by most others it was. I think Chief's post is the best post because he says Sano is our third basemen, but it is also right to be concerned about him. It's not either/or.
