  1. I guess I did contradict myself. But what do you mean: there are no playoffs in baseball? Is it "called" something else? Because they are playoffs.
  2. I believe a more accurate accounting is to look at who made the playoffs (the World Series is a crap schoot within a crapshoot within a crapshoot based on who has the best 2 starting pitchers and best fireballers at the end of the bullpen - it just kind of becomes boring), but that's beside the point I'm making.) Look at the top 13 team salaries for 2016. What do you see? You see that 10 of them made the playoffs (77%). The Indians this year and The Royals last year are definitely outliers, and isn't it shocking that the Yankees and Cardinals (and to a lesser extent, Detroit) not make it? 2016: 1 Los Angeles Dodgers 2 New York Yankees Boston Red Sox 4 Detroit Tigers 5 Chicago Cubs 6 San Francisco Giants 7 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8 Texas Rangers 9 St. Louis Cardinals 10 Washington Nationals 11 Toronto Blue Jays 12 Baltimore Orioles 13 New York Mets
  3. I thought when the Indians signed Rajai Davis it was a sign the FO was wasting their time on old mediocre fill-in veterans. He didn't have a great year, but he did steal 43 bases ... maybe something about chemistry that defies the stats as well ... and ... today is Davis's 36th birthday. Oh, ain't that sweet.
  4. With an owner, a vice president and chief baseball officer, a general manager, a manager, and coaches up and down the bench ... it will be even harder to know who to blame next year!
  5. The article doesn't say that anyone was fired. It states that there is heresay to that effect.
  6. Thanks. It is surprising to me how well The Twins first basemen performed as a trio. However, I don't think the stats are accurate - Park played mostly DH. Question
  7. Thus begins the Paul Bunyon-esque legend of Miguel Sano.
  8. There have been landings on Mars softer than what Sano's butt just endured. Or something.
  9. For all its suckiness 2016 has been interesting. There is hope. Baseball is a religion. Sport are the cause of all suffering. (I checked out completely during the Brian Dinkelman era. Hell, I don't even know how to spell his name, only how to disparage him. I wonder what he is doing now?)
  10. Because it wouldn't be accurate?
  11. We already got him. Great windup. Used to imitate it as a kid.
  12. FWIW, E. Santana has performed as a Twin nearly identically than he did in his previous two years, and in fact, as a Twin he has performed remarkably consistent to his entire career.
  13. If we give up another run at least we won't lose another one-run game.
  14. Wake up, Twins I think I got something to say to you It's late September and I really should be back at school I know I keep you amused, but I feel I'm being used Oh, Twins, I couldn't have tried any more You led me away from home Just to save you from being alone You stole my heart, and that's what really hurts
  15. Sano, inspired by Vargas, homers? . He has 8 times as many strike outs as home runs this year. So if he hits 50 next year will he strike out 400 times?
  16. But I also don't want Rosario in LF next year. I think we need to go outside the system to find the answer.
  17. Grossman is last in major league baseball in DRS (Defensive Runs Saved): -21. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=lf&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=0&type=1&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=10,a Whatever he does on offense is taken away by what he doesn't do on defense.
  18. Dozier is in a mini-slump. 1 for his last 22. .045 BA. Which sucks.
  19. Brooks Pounders. Best baseball name ever. Let's make him pay for that!
  20. I will add ... man, am I prolific tonight ... that the new rule against take-out slides at second base has really cleaned up the game. Does anyone know if league-wide double plays are up this year?
  21. If Gardy were managing and he played Shafer and Beresford night after night we would accuse him of playing mediocre players like he himself had been ... Molitor, by comparison, should be playing future Hall of Famers. I don't know. Not my best post.
