  1. I’m hoping this is all just a “grand plan” to stink in 2026, cash in at the deadline to load up on more youthful talent; give that talent some experience during the few months of the 2027 mostly lost season (MLB work stoppage), and finally starting a new dynasty of excellence in 2028. Meanwhile, attendance plummets at Target Field, except for a few Die Hards complaining about the “Cheap Pohlads” and other anonymous owners - who somehow will be show that they had it all figured out. Contenders in 2028, and World Series Winners in 2029 and for a decade of dynasty beyond.
  2. I expect some here to press for Lucas Giolito to sign. But it’s pretty clear that this is the starting rotation and it looks mediocre at best (but the abundance of ready and near-ready young arms is a big wild card!) Joe Ryan is an all-star quality starter. One has to admire SWR as a back ender. He is a bulldog, in my opinion, with the ability to keep his head in the game even when there is some adversity (errors extending innings for example). Then there are the talented young pitchers, Abel and Bradley. If one falters, there are other young pitchers waiting in AAA (Matthews. Morris, Prielipp and more…). The big question mark is Bailey Ober - but that question is quickly becoming an answer and that answer is NO. I believe he may add a little velocity if he pitched fewer innings out of the bullpen. Overall, this is a mediocre rotation with some upside if the young pitchers excel, and downside if they falter. The bullpen is below league average (which is better than the disaster that played out during the final weeks of the 2025 season). This appears to be a defensively challenged team, but even that poor defense is better than the pathetic offense displayed during Spring Training. I am very pessimistic about my chances of cashing in my 100 to 1 Vegas bet that the Twins win the World Series. Take the under of 73.5 games.
  3. What is the over-under on the number of days remaining in Trevor Larnach’s MLB career. He is not hitting well and his defense is suspect as well
  4. A disaster in the bullpen would be one anchored by Cole Sands, Travis Adams, Kody Funderburk, Justin Topa and Pierson Ohl. The Twins have improved upon just those who were left after the deadline last season.
  5. There are reasons to be less pessimistic. I’m encouraged to see some veterans brought in like Hendricks and Rogers. I like the addition of more left handers. Meanwhile, there are a number of starters like Ober and Festa who can bolster the bullpen. I’m not saying the Twins will have the best bullpen in MLB but it’s not the disaster I expected after last year’s fire sale at the deadline.
  6. Meanwhile, Liam Hendrix looked pretty good. Looks like the Twins will be able to rebuild the bullpen as a strength, but this starting rotation is more challenged than expected. And the line up looks anemic. Is my opinion that excessive?
  7. How many slo-mo, Bruce Chen types succeed as starters. Move Bailey to the pen.
  8. Yes, that is a legitimate way to feel about starting pitcher careers (reassessing the importance of wins). Yet, I have been to Cooperstown, and I support the current “small hall”. I don’t want years where there are 10 inductees. It’s great to go there and recognize all the names. Why create a “who’s that dude” HOF? Bad idea!
  9. And Cory Lewis is hurt despite being a knuckle-ball pitcher. If thrown right, that pitch is viewed as putting less strain on an arm. Does Cory Lewis throw it correctly? Don’t ask me.
  10. This bullpen needs the honor and discipline that only the first KLINGON in MLB can bring. I predict thatthis season, the Twins will elevate that KLINGON. Jarrett Whorff, to the MLB bullpen. He will have to improve on his ERA over 5.5 last season. Make it so!
  11. With the name Roden, he should have a MONSTER season. That is, unless he has to confront Godzilla, Mothra, and the Smog Monster. By the way, I heard Roden can really fly.
  12. No need to trade Ober. Move him to the pen. Maybe he can regain some velo in shorter stints. I know I’m not the first one to suggest this.
  13. Make a correction. You write 2025 once when you mean 2026. Not a big knock - we all do it well into every new year.
  14. Thanks. I’m relieved that Spanish-speakers haven’t joined English-speakers in saddling their children with intentionally misspelled names (and a lifetime of having to spell it for people). There is hope for the world. I will try to find something else to occupy my thoughts before pitchers and catchers report (countdown begins soon). So, I’ll move on to contemplating which name is worse for a baseball player - a pitcher named Balfour or a batter named Outman?
  15. Oh no. I am losing it. I don’t remember of those older Jhonny players.
  16. I thought it was a recent phenomenon. Thanks for letting me I wasn’t completely losing it.
  17. Just curious: Can anyone here name a player prior to Jhonny Peralta who had his name spelled (misspelled) like that? I know some of you might say it’s a longtime Hispanic tradition. But it isn’t. Back in the day, Spanish for Johnny would have been.Juanito not this misspelled form of Johnny. I should have asked this before Pereda left. I’m feeling like a Jhonny Come Lately.
  18. Ultimately his career will be a question of whether it is among the QUICK or the DEAD.
  19. Yes - that promotion would not be RAPIDL; it would be QUICKly.
  20. Good luck in your recovery - you are The Terminator not those heart issues.
  21. I’m thinking Willi won’t make the Top. 5 but he added much higher value (he was an All-Star as a Twin) than his market value before signing.
  22. HBD Buck. Glad you are joining us for another season.
  23. A female reporter, who I believe still covers the team, made a disturbing accusation against Sano near the end of his tenure. I doubt Twins management wants to have that issue return as well.
  24. It’s been decades since “Disco” Dan Ford and Pitcher Anthony DeSclafani during his mostly injured Twins tenure was called “Disco”. But, in honor of the late 70s group DeBarge, this prospect is hereby dubbed Kyle “Disco” DeBarge,
