  1. Of course, the Twins accept an overpayment for Ryan But FIRST concentrate on moving one of our three catchers. I’d like to see Jeffers signed longterm with Caratini traded to a contender desperate for a catcher (but keeping Caratini and trading Jeffers should be explored as well). The Twins have too many left-handed hitting outfielders. Try to trade some of that glut for one or two major league arms and more minor league pitching prospects. Use the deadline to start to rebalance the roster and the minor league system.
  2. The split-screen during the game got annoying. Show the game. We don’t have to see the “analysts”. Many times, the yapping lingered long after an important play. “By the way, a minute ago blankety-blank happened…”. I like this better during Spring Training games. The banter about the good old days and interaction with fans works better when the game on the screen matters less. The Tom Pohlad bits last night actually worked somewhat. I would have liked the group asking him whether the Twins will be buyers or sellers at the deadline. for a change, I didn’t mind it. But let’s have no more than 4 games a season of this.
  3. Twins need to trade Jeffers or make a qualifying offer. If they do the latter, they need to trade Caratini, and could be left with neither as a starting catcher if Jeffers doesn’t accept the offer. I like trading Jeffers as the best choice. I could be wrong.
  4. You have the general idea. Sell some of out strengths and acquire at positions where we are weak.
  5. Hey, the Twins have had GRANT BALL-FOUR and James OUT-man, why not add Woo-Suk-Go. First we “woo” him and then…
  6. At catcher, you forget Khadim Diaw, currently at Wichita. The Twins need to accumulate more pitching. Trading Ryan Jeffers for pitching could hrlp. The Twins would still be well stocked at catcher (Caratini, Jackson and the bevy of minor league talent).
  7. Are you presuming Buxton will waive his no-trade clause and get traded? I presume he stays and moves to left field. Walker Jenkins is likely to be in Center Field. Then there is a competition for the right field position and for a 4th outfielder. Meanwhile, there will be a few trades of our numerous talented outfielders and others will be mostly minor leaguers and/or released. It will be interesting to watch the fates of Keaschall, Martin, Rodriguez, Larnach, Wallner, Roden, Gonzalez, Fedko, Clemons, Kreidler - There are so many, I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention some.
  8. But presuming an infield of Culpepper, Houston and Lee, where do you put each player?
  9. In the event that both Marek Houston and Kaelen Culpepper make it to the big league club, what positions do they play? At this time, it looks like Houston at SS and Culpepper at 2B or 3B (where would Brooks Lee go?). Nevertheless, the Twins have the depth to improve their current defense (or lack thereof).
  10. Trade Larnach, and Jeffers for pitching (relief and starting). Try to sign Ryan longterm (if it isn’t feasible, trade him). Bring up Wallner, and Roden. Demote Austin Martin. Try to acquire something for the bullpen this year and next year. These should be easy decisions to make. Contenders should overpay. Retaining Joe Ryan is the toughest decision if he can’t be signed to a reasonable longterm contract and if the Twins are in contention at the deadline
  11. I don’t understand Minnesotans who decide NOT to go to see baseball in April because of the weather. Put on a jacket and it’s great weather for a ballgame. In the Spring, there is hope. By August, in many years, the Twins are out of the race. Yet, those fans somehow prefer to attend games in 85 degree weather with 80% humidity. They sit sweating next to their fellow perspiring fans. Even attending in the nude wouldn’t help. Meanwhile, many fans routinely leave by the 8th inning, guaranteeing that they will miss the most exciting comebacks. Why not just attend innings 3-9 if you only want to see 7 innings? And that’s my rant!!!
  12. If it doesn’t work this time, don’t give up. Patience is very important. But if he clicks immediately, it’s huge.
  13. Why not get the Dodgers into a bidding war for Jeffers with the Yankees? The Dodgers have left town with its top catcher (Will Smith) still injured “indefinitely” and rookie catcher Dalton Rushing reportedly being controversial (Shohei Ohtani apparently doesn’t like him and there have been numerous complaints from opponents that he is a “dirty player” with alleged attitude issues). Why not let the Dodgers dump its perceived “problem”, Rushing who just happens to have a 799 OPS and is just a rookie, for Jeffers? The Dodgers can add a good prospect, since they are the team with the “problem”! Catching prospects Diaw and Tait meanwhile are waiting in the wings at AA and High A for the Twins. Some of you might be wary of a catcher with an alleged “attitude problem.” But the Twins did well with one a few decades ago. Remember that guy - when he played for the other team you hated him, but when he played for your own team you hated him less (paraphrasing Ozzie Guillen). Indeed, Jeffers and Mitch Garver apparently didn’t get along. Moreover, with Rushing on the Twins, the team could also deal Caratini to another contender for another prospect (hopefully a future bullpen stud). Alex Jackson is still here as back-up with those prospects soon knocking on the door. With Victor Caratini gone, Dan Gladden would only have to mispronounce his name (CaraNtini) when his new team played the Twins.
  14. The big news is that the only Klingon in professional baseball, Jaret Whorff, was released by Wichita. Tell me the Twins didn’t “MAKE IT SO”. Sorry, only those familiar with the names of the Enterprise crew in Star Trek Next Generation get this schtick.
  15. Corey Lewis at one point had the nastiest pitch in the Twins system (knuckleball). It would be nice to see him continue with good results like last nite.
  16. At some point, SS will improve with Kaelen Culpepper and even more with Marek Houston. Maybe Walker Jenkins (or another young CF) can thrive in Center, allowing Buxton to be a plus defender at one of the corners. Otherwise, defense looks like a problem for more than just 2026
  17. Agreed. I’m more worried about the low overall number of high quality pitching prospects. Maybe the Twins add 2 or more at the deadline.
  18. It’s way too soon to give up on 2026. the difference between trading Clemons and st the trade deadline doesn’t justify giving up now.
  19. Marek Houston seems to be the stud SS in Cedar Rapids (over at Winokur) - or am I missing something?? Then again, after a few months of James OUTman, I’m encouraged that the Twins have a player named WINokur.
  20. Trade him and plan for 2028 and beyond. 2027 could be lost to a work stoppage anyways. By the way, is this the only time the word “stoppage” is used for a sport other than hockey, where it’s used all the time?
  21. Thanks for the article. The end of 2025 was so encouraging. The regression was more of a collapse this year. I trust the Twins on this one.
  22. Except Twins fans get the guy with a name that’s impossible to spell and pronounce. It took me almost a year to spell and pronounce Keaschall and it will take another year to figure out how to spell and pronounce reliever Gomez’s first name.
  23. Royce Lewis is disgruntled for the Twins. Somewhere out there in TD-land, someone is smarter than me in thinking how a Mlodzinski for Lewis trade could be accomplished. I would think the Pirates would have to add a prospect or player, since that pitcher’s last name is harder to pronounce and spell than Lewis.
  24. And it wasn’t like SWR was fueling much hope with his performance this year. this wasn’t an unjustified salary dump.
