  1. I could give 2 sh#$ about a local kid being drafted by us, and I am fine with us taking a shot at a star...truly I am fine with all that. However, we just all know how barren our pitching is, and Sano etc all, need help next year or the year after, so how did this help us? Thats what my gut says. I trust my gut.
  2. I tend to agree with this. Even with his traditionally bad peripherals, Santiago was somewhat less of a train wreck than Nolasco. Gibson is another story. Gleeman has pointed out more than once, that he is the worst twins starter in our history, with over 100 starts...Plenty of sample size there. The Twins should move him down or something else, and go to plan D, E, or F for his spot.
  3. My guess is Rosario was already on the 40 man, so they took a chance on him...
  4. I am fine with taking Wright. I think it makes the most sense. However, I would advocate, or actually plead, that MLB network, the Twin Cities media, or the media nationwide all agree to never show Wright pitching in that specific uniform again after he is drafted...awful.
  5. Correct, my bad, but on a rope right?
  6. Revere with the "P" 7 bouncer to home...
  7. Good Hypothetical, except Molly's going with the experienced guy in that scenario...... Now if we were down 27, then your hypothetical applies
  8. Couldn't agree more here. With Rosario being...well Rosario, they should not be conservative with Wade. If he continues what he has done for AA, then a promotion to AAA in July seems warranted. Love that he has worked his way into the top 10. I think he will be in the top 5 somewhere by the end of the year.
  9. That's a good question. I'd lean to play the player with more upside in Garver, but I understand that Robby provides value with the getting on base tool. More importantly, I would rather have Garver up here instead of Gimenez. It's nice to have an all catch and no hit cather, but having two of them? Plus, it seems to me that Castro is a defensive upgrade over Gimenez (eye test only here), so why not bring Garver up? Between catching 2 times a week, 1b once a week and DH every 7 or 8 games, that's plenty of at bats (4 games a week) for a kid who is only getting older at AAA and appears to have the hit tool at his disposal (not to mention on base tool).
  10. Interesting article here: http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2017/5/18/15656078/minnesota-twins-first-place-american-league-central-mlb Notes the Twins nice defensive metrics, but points out some other stuff. The info on the two players who are carrying us (Sano/Santana), is very interesting. I sent the link because the timing of that article and Nick's are coincidental.
  11. I'd rather have Polonco swinging as well, but c'mon Molly, you have a duck on the pond you let your young player drive him in...in no scenario should buxton be bunting in that situation, especially in the 2nd inning. Molly will probably say it was his choice. Well then Paul I hope you told him that was not the right spot, and take a crack at driving him in
  12. I am trying to catch up on here...did I see that Buxton sacrificed, in the 2nd with a man on 2nd and nobody out? No chance of a force out, but we sacrifice in the 2nd? Same guy who his next at bat hits a bomb? Also threw Hughes back out in the 6th, when his numbers against teams seeing him for the 3rd time are awful (well there are not a lot of those numbers as he rarely gets outs). Also, Grossman has one bobble for an extra base (possible), and later kicked a ball for an error/run? I guess a positive is both Buck and Castro got a hit in the same game.
  13. Are we wishing for a rain out so we don't have to have that 5th starter? Or at least it buys us some time to figure out what to do about said 5th? Just throwing Gibby out there because we have nobody else, is not the answer IMO.
  14. Not sure I want Wimmers or Baxendale at the MLB level when we have Metokolis and Burdi, who have way, way more upside and are no longer young prospects. I am not sure why you wouldn't just bring them up over those two you mention. Obviously Shaggy I am comfortable with when he's fully healthy.
  15. Beat writer saying last night that Tepesch is the most likely to get the start when 5th spot opens. Which makes 0 sense. Called him up and he hasn't pitched in 12 days....
  16. I agree with this and also add Metakolis to this comment. Both need to be looked at aggressively...
  17. Berrios won't start this Friday, he just pitched last night. Nick, nice objective article. You can see Hughes, has next to nothing this year, but he has not been a disaster somehow. My guess is as long as that ERA stays under 5, the Twins will keep throwing him out there... I also don't think it will be under 5 for long, he is just way to hittable right now.
  18. Has there been buxton bashing on here? I know there has been frustration. It's hard to want him to get it so badly, but at the end of the day he is not, and it's not close. I am not sure what you do at this point, because with all the attention on K's, it's gotta be affecting him at the plate, and adding to the pressure.
  19. Can't pinch hit for Gimenez, here or later in game, because it leaves us with no back up. Bizarre. Glad he walked.
  20. So basically we are batting two catchers back to back? I guess. What other options does he have if we are going R/L every other player...? Love Polonco at the 3 spot!!!
  21. I did intend that, and agree it was both funny and mean...more the first one though
  22. I predict that yesterday will be DanSan's best game of the season. It's nice to open the season with a win.
  23. Giminez has had some "really successful moments?" I can buy into surrounding your core with veterans, or different veterans (as we have Dozier, Mauer, Castro, Grossman, various starting pitchers, and relief pitchers). However, what about these 3 guys mentioned in the article are going to make a huge difference to our core? I am not getting it, especially with a lack of right handed bats... Oh well...win twins!
