It was a weird game, I felt like there was a lot of chances for the Twins to blow it up, but after recent events I was waiting for bad things to happen when they the sox had so many runners on base. Who cares? Twins win!

Slegers is a nice depth guy to have in AAA. He still strikes me as a AAAA pitcher. Doesn't miss a lot of bats. Maybe as a long relief guy, when Hughes more than likely fails. Glad he's pitching well, but with Santana, Gonsalvez and Trevor May all probably available sooner than later, I think Slegers is good where he is right now.

Article: Can Fernando Romero Spark The Twins?
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It was a good start, and gives us hope. Still concerned about the RISP on our team. Not getting the big hit, instead relying on ground balls and walks to drive runs in. Hopefully seeing the ChiSox will cure what ails us. -

Once Pillar stole 2nd, well Curtis started to have that deer in headlights look, and it got worse. I like his arm, but wow that was a meltdown- 62 replies

Article: Week in Review: Too Many Missteps
rghrbek replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Couldn't we kinda see this coming with Sano? His impatience at the plate was really starting to show last year before he got hurt. I believe he was swinging at pitches outside the strike zone at a mid to low 20 percentile in April (when he had a ton of walks), and then got really bad before he got hurt (40%). That was alarming last year. The trend continues this year. He has become the new Eddie R! Troubling.- 10 replies

Lefty's are going to continue to punish the twins until Buck is back, and becomes better at the plate. Sano's 50% K rate does not help. It doesn't look like he has a plan up there. I would never throw him a fastball. Bad series with some predictable outfield struggles with Robby and our center fielder missing the cutoffs. We are going to have to ask Berrios and Ordorizzi to get us back on track.

Article: TB 8, MIN 7: Playing The Wrong Notes
rghrbek replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lynn coming out for the 7th, is pretty weird. Strib insinuated that Molly wanted him to get more innings. If true that is flawed thinking. I am more concerned about Molly's bullpen usage. Not so much last night, as the order he threw the pitchers out there was per the plan in the off season. More so how he has used Duke Duke was decent against righty's last year. I believe that was his only year that he was good in that matter. I think we can all agree let's slow down trying to have Duke pitch against multiple right handed batters. Molly has just given him the 6th or 7th inning no matter who is batting. That has to stop. I am also fearful that if Rodney (who has one clean inning in all of his appearances and I think that was a double play ball when he came in w/ runners on base) continues to pitch poorly that they don't wait for him to get better into June. Same with Duke. I also see a trend of not pinch hitting for Castro with Garver, very late in games or in extra innings. Seems he has the same fear that Gardy did of being stuck with no catcher on your bench, which is silly. -
Do we know how MiLB is treating stats in the 10innings and beyond? If a pitcher comes in, in the 10th and gives up a hit, does that run count agains his ERA? I am not sure that is fair.

Article: MIN 4, SEA 2: Bombs and Bullpen

2 games in a row where Rosario catches a break. That called ball not only was strike 3, it was not even borderline! Next pitch...bomb. We'll take it.- 60 replies

The big difference in this comp as pointed out is CF vs 2b...such different value for elite players. However Dozier is off to a hot start which he rarely has done so that bodes well for him. I prefer to let this all play out because of our depth. Dozier will get a 5 year deal from someone, maybe...we will see. If the Twins offered him a 3 year 60 mil deal and he bit I would take it, the problem is he won't bite. I will be shocked if in the offseason he gets 20+ mil a year though. Just my thoughts.

Article: MIN 7, BAL 0: Berri0s
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This, in my opinion is the overlying factor. Also some of baseballs unwritten rules are tiring. Bottom line is our starting pitching was great and at least right now Baltimore is a bad bad hitting team- 84 replies

Article: Look Who’s Back: Twins Claim Vargas
rghrbek replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gleeman has pointed out multiple times that Oritz numbers especially if he was played more were sustainable and in todays world would have projected him as a future great player. Just with his Twins numbers. Our coach and FO didn't want to pay the 2 million to keep him. Thats on them. Gleeman has also pointed out that Vargas pro numbers are replacement level or below no matter how you look at it. Obviously I agree. Vargas is barely a MLB level player.- 48 replies

Article: No Suspension For Miguel Sano
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I will chime in only to say that I am a fan of Miggie. Baseball only I am. From the reactions when this came out from the many Twins Daily people both posters and others who knew the alleged victim, they supported her. I cannot help feeling dirty, very dirty. I hope I am wrong for feeling this way but in most things I trust my gut. Yuk It's behind us now and we have to move on. Just don't feel great about it. Win Twins I guess? -
Article: Is Another Arm Coming?
rghrbek replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My guess is the Twins won't come above their offer to Lynn of 2 years 20 mil. I don't blame them at this point The draft pick is secondary, but it is something to be considered. Although not great, I am ok with the group we have, provided if Gibson, Meija or whomever is the number 5 (not that we really need one the first moth the way the schedule plays out), a # 5 is ok to pass to a prospect if and when the above guys fail, which I think Gibson will. Would I like Lynn? Sure. The way the market is right now it should be on our terms after a not great but not at all inactive off season. -
Article: Lance Lynn to the Twins?

I am blah on Lynn or Cobb. But if that gives me one less start from Gibson, who people on this site call a a for sure 4th or 5th starter, I am fine with that money. Please no more 5.07 era..- 110 replies

Article: The Darvish Contingency Plan
rghrbek replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Listen, I wanted the Twins to sign Darvish. If we offered basically what the Cubs did, then I am happy. Anything more, I think would have been irresponsible. I think Darvish will be good, not great, for 3 to 4 years of that contract. I am not going to be mad at the FO, for Darvish choosing the better club. Lots of speculation about the twins now trying to make some trade with the D-backs or Rays on this site. Call me skeptical. I believe in our FO, but I also don't think they have the stones to trade our high end stuff and an MLB asset for a pitcher. Most of our newly ranked upside is our young players, who are unproven for the most part. If they can find someone willing to take those folks with a Kepler, I am good with that. I just don't think it's reality. I am disappointed but not mad. If we get Cobb or Lynn, fine, just don't think we are going to get an archer or a Grenkie type player in a trade. I hope Berrios will improve (which I think he will), and scrap heaps like Gibson can build off the month plus he had of quality pitching (which he won't). I hope I am wrong on all accounts- 195 replies

I know gibby had a nice run of a month plus but weren't his last 4 starts bad? I think we are a little too optimistic about a guy who performed to the same level as the year before in it's entirety. Otherwise good article nick

Article: Hard Work Jorge Pays Off
rghrbek replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the Gordon and Polonco comps are fair. I also think Polonco got so much early exposure, and burned his options. I was glad to see his August comeback because I do think he is an MLB player. I think Gordon is worth some of his praise, but his 2nd half fall offs our concerning no matter where you fall on him as a prospect. Super happy with Jorge's progress in the field and at the plate...we need to see more though -
Article: A Re-Do On Dozier For Minnesota
rghrbek replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We were desperate for pitching last year, so I agreed with dangling Dozier. However he's backed up one great season with another. He's elite. I was wrong. However, as good as he has been and I think will be for the next two or 3 years, I do not think he will be that guy past his year 35. I would be careful with him, both wanting him for the next 3 to 4 years but not longer. I guess that means we overpay for 3 years, which he won't do or extend for 5. It's a tough call. -
Article: Twins Sign Closer Rodney To One-Year Deal
rghrbek replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins really must believe in the young arms...especially if he is the only signing in the bullpen. There were some good arms that were signed to reasonable deals.
